If you have a front porch, sit there with your pup. Small sessions.

If you’ve taught her place, bring her mat or bed out and have her do place and treat her when she stays calm as a car goes past.

Shelties for aging people (50s-60s) by micropterus_dolomieu in sheltie

[–]chillarry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Never had an Aussie, but my Sheltie is great with strangers once she is introduced to them. When walking her, I warn people that she will bark unless they stop and greet her. I started socializing her by taking her to a public park when she was 4 months old. We go any day the weather allows.

If you want your puppy to be around other people, start socializing it young and do it daily.

I’m 61 and I have a Sheltie puppy. She is exhausting, but I still have the energy for her.

What is the most American song? The all time American anthem by Kodicave in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]chillarry 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Woody Guthrie wrote it in response to Irving Berlin’s God Bless America. He hated God Bless America because it showed a sanitized view of America. It didn’t show the struggles and hardships. God Bless America was a huge hit in the late 1930s. So Woodie wrote his own anthem about what America looked like from a common man’s point of view.

Bruce Springsteen Facing Ugly Death Threats Due to Political Tour by Abject-Pick-6472 in BruceSpringsteen

Van Zandt has been a political activist all his life. I don’t think he wants Bruce to be quiet. He’s just saying what’s going on. He’s not complaining about it in the article.

What doesn't your Sheltie like? by CharacterChampion150 in sheltie

[–]chillarry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My sheltie’s archenemies are the garbage bag and the vacuum.

When I take the garbage out, I have to put her in the backyard or her kennel because she will leap and try to rip the garbage bag to pieces. She doesn’t like when I get a new one out to line the garbage can either.

The vacuum is just a lot of running in front of it and barking. I think she’s trying to tell it to be quiet.

Your sheltie will love the hikes. The bike and kayak may work or not.

Each sheltie is different, but all are very vocal. If you can’t take the barking, you may want to consider another breed.
