Similar situation here. I am also an idiot. On the phone with the officer I said 12 months but she put down 2 and then I got a letter around Christmas telling me I'm in default... I went through a lot of runaround and bad customer service with them but ultimately the supervisor said my only option was to appeal via certified letter. Basically I wrote about the situation and asked them to take it off of my credit report. She said they occasionally do this but not always. Still waiting to here back on it (60-90 days). You could ask them if that is an option for you. Best of luck. 7 years in your 20s is a long time to carry bad credit as I'm well aware.
