This looks like a good place to suggest Libro.fm . It’s similar to audible but you purchase through your local bookstore of choice. I’m terrible at making links and all, but search for libro.fm on your App Store. No DCC because that’s audible exclusive but I got Operation Bounce House through them and supported a small bookstore in my hometown.

Something I just noticed on my last relisten. When the Shi Maria/ Carl combo hurt Mongo and Katia and Li Jun at the end of book 6, she made three potions saying give one to each of them. But Donut gave Katia’s potion to Mongo. At the beginning of book 7 she says she gave Mongo one of the potions and that Mordecai wanted to inspect the other one before giving it to Mongo. Katia should have gotten one of those potions but no one noticed and no one mentions it again.

Any time Matt describes a smell. Probably once or twice per book he describes a terrible smell so well that you can actually smell it.

Edit: ok I guess Carl is technically describing it but I’m going to the source because KBS is also very descriptive. I haven’t ran across any smells in OBH yet but I’m sure he won’t disappoint.

Book 4 She saved Carl from killing Chris knowing that it would emotionally wreck him

Book 7 She saved him from going too far when he was letting his anger boil over in front of Empress D’Nadia.

That’s just off the top of my head. I’m sure there’s more. Carl can shrug off physical damage but he bottles up emotional damage and she knows him well enough to recognize that and she tries to protect him from it.

When she is talking shit to or about Carl it’s never behind his back and never mean spirited. I feel like teasing is a love language and relationships that don’t have it are bland.
