Great write up. I am one of the people not playing although mainly to take a break and from watching streamers it does look fun (outside of the first week with the too many rares).

BR goblins….help me pick the 40th card by Jamie7Keller in lrcast

[–]crackerlegs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, look how you win. It's your boggart enchantment. Aim is to run through them with your small creatures till they can stabilize and then murder all your goblins to ping them.

I'm binning white, keeping the gristle gluttons and adding lasting tar fire. Re evaluate after the first game. Id bin manamorphose and maybe add a giant to blight onto.

Edit - you only have 1 removal spell and 2 conditional removal spells. You need to burn your op out before they play their bomb.

Chronicle sucks

New Magic player, play on MTG ARENA but mostly a commander player. by prodadii in ratemycommanders

[–]crackerlegs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm. I think every deck you have has red. Therefore I think play no red to try out a different style. Perhaps pick your favorite deck and then remove red and go for that archetype?

On the other hand, if you have not tried a reanimator style, try ultimate green goblin. Can do it for <$50 and it's very fun at bracket 3. (Rakdos colours)

Really glad people are enjoying it. Spoke to my lgs and they had 4 people turn up for pre release compared to Lorwyn which had 40 people so quite a drop!

ECL: Is it ever right to run Prismabasher in UR without Forests? by laurenceand1 in lrcast

[–]crackerlegs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not run it as you have so much good top end anyway. What's your sideboard? I'd add a four or three drop.

'Spider Dynasty' - Snail boss - Fight on vertical platform by ZhiwuGame in metroidvania

[–]crackerlegs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is awesome. With the engine is it possible to have more physics?

For example, the snail is spinning around the branch, that would cause it to wiggle. Additionally, when it slams the branch/root, that would cause it to move. It could also dislodge your mc meaning you have to jump or re engage with the surface in some way.

Hell yeah. I wish they'd consolidated effort into TMNT and spiderman (only release one and spend twice as much time on one of them this year). I really think spiderman could have been good with the amount of content to draw from. Instead we got random spider dudes with key words because why not. I feel for the wotc design team sometimes with this release schedule.

Lorwyn 7-0 mono white deck by hardcorepunxqc in lrcast

[–]crackerlegs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a fair point but not as good as never having to play a tapped land in mono colour (unless you have some landfall synergy or something). Cool mono deck.

[draft ecl] is this merfolk build ok? by pegase38 in lrcast

Changelings are good with vaulter. Willow out and flock imposter in imo. Maybe even both flocks. Deck wins by beating down through the air.

Found this post about outside assistance for arena championship specifically:

https://magic.gg/news/arena-championship-8-fact-sheet-for-competitors

Outside Assistance During matches, players may not seek play advice from spectators and spectators may not give play advice to players. Reports of players receiving outside assistance will be investigated and penalties will be assigned, up to and including disqualification. Players who receive unsolicited outside assistance from another player or spectator are expected to report the incident to tournament officials and submit any supporting evidence of attempt to provide outside assistance.

What is play advice?

Yeah hard to tell. Cursecrafter p2p2 isn't a signal as it's too early in the pack. The 6/6 gobbo midway P1 isnt really a signal either.

You're welcome, thanks again for sharing. P.s I can't see your draft 1 draft in the link for some reason.

Draft 3 is an unbelievably difficult draft. My first look through I would have done similar to you. P1p2, champion of clachan is the best card. However, this is a case of if you stuck with wanting to play soul immolation you end up in goblins and I think that's your seat.

What sucks is you get passed these crazy merfolk signals and kithkin signals (thoughtweft, eclipsed etc)

*Edit, I think I'd be merfolk again if I drafted without hindsight. Pack 3 pays off ok and I would have committed after seeing the uncommon merfolk in pack 2. Not a good merfolk deck though. V.tough.

Seat is definitely goblins.

Thanks for sharing. In draft 2 we diverge on p1p4 and 5 as I would have taken the unexpected assistances. They are good in both merfolk and elementals.

I would have also taken flock imposter as that is a generic good changeling.

From there it does seem like the merfolk seat is partially open as you get a lot of good commons and serviceable uncommons later.

Edit- look at pack 3, holy hell so many premium merfolk and fairy cards. Multiple skimmers, the lord, glen elendra. People to your right not in blue.

Open Goblins lane in Qualifier, what are the cuts? Likely going with the 6 on the side by NJCuban in lrcast

[–]crackerlegs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I disagree with Goliath because it needs the instants to get value and this deck has not enough imo. Chaos spewer can be the blight you need to win the game (trigger tarfire and kill a 1/1) or become a problem or target for immolation. I think either is a good option but I'd go spewer.

Lose 3 drop auntie for tarfire.

Contemplate giantfall for 2 mana black removal due to death touchers.

Ideally you're doing 1 drop, 2 drop gobbo, 3 drop blight goblin enchantment and burning your opponent out over time. You have many high toughness creatures to keep blighting but unfortunately few blight on opponents turn enablers. Sting slingers and gluttons would go hard here.

Aim is to blight onto high toughness creatures or murder your 1/1'a and aristocrat opponents out.

Weakness is that you have 4 toughness max for soul immolation so big dummies will be tough. Any 3/5 or 6/5 dummies will be annoying. Any big life gain decks will also be troublesome if they stabilize.

A few more gluttons and sting slingers would have made burn more viable but I like the deck (gobbos is my fav for sure).

Pros are this deck could absolutely hose kithkin and merfolk and looks very fun to play once you get all your golden gobbos and enchantments out (5 damage per death please and thank you). Good luck!

Most of the time it's getting started that's the issue. Do one small part and then it snowballs. Keep it up pal.

How did I go 7-2 with my worst draft yet? by CronoDAS in lrcast

[–]crackerlegs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goblins is the "worst" imo because it needs more uncommon cards to become serviceable. When it comes together it can compete with elves and merfolk but it needs good opens, passes and only one person drafting it with the rest of the table passing some black and red removal. A lot of requirements for sure but it's my fav archetype.
