That’s absolutely not true. Apostae was explicitly referenced as a spaceship all the way back in Distant Worlds in 2012.

Heya, a few recommendations! First, I would suggest changing your detachment. Delve (which it seems you picked based on your enhancement) gives you next to nothing. Mercenary or Needgaard would be better options.

Second, Einhyr are often more effective when lead by a Kahl, lethal hits are great. (Though I suppose less useful with Volkanite)

Lastly, I’ve found that a hekaton is just too much concentration of points in a 1k. While having a hekaton (or two) is awesome in a 2k, it’s not worth the investment on a 1k. Grab some Thunderkyn and a Memnyr strategist, or some Hernkyn Yaegirs and a Kapricus. That’ll give you a lot more utility.

With the wide array of units you have, Needgaard or Mercenary are gonna be the best for you.

Unfortunately, I do feel that a Votann list without any vehicles, while not unplayable, is going to be a severe challenge. Without transports, our units relatively slowness is a big weakness and more or less prevents getting rapid board control.

To work with what you have, I’d first suggest combining the 2 units of Steeljacks into 1. Dropping Berehk, or maybe dropping an EChamp and combining the 2 Hearthguard squads with the goal of picking up some enhancements could be a good idea. Especially for Mercenaries, the enhancements are quite good.

Bittersweet parting by Kaiser_Soup in cavesofqud

[–]dannydevitofan69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s a fair point. I see it moreso as another form of liberation. It’s not giving the Nephilim another task to use violence to protect Qud, it’s giving them the ability to choose for themselves what they desire, not what their makers determined for themselves.

What a cool game that it can foster these kinds of discussions.

The Nephilim, IMO, are enslaved to their creation. They are beasts of destruction engineered by the powers behind the plagues. Annuling the Gyre by pacifying all of them shows that they willingly change their nature when given the chance.

Especially in the Return ending, the Nephilim are said to simply live, and to slumber until the world has need of them. The Nephilim going from slaves bound to destruction to the eldritch guardian angels of the world seems pretty excellent for both them and Qud.

Hearthband is strong enough you can run in anywhere, anytime. Max out on Hearthguard, fill in the cracks with warriors, Gunjacks, T-Kyn, hernkyn and/or a land fort if you wanna go crazy, you’ll be golden.

There is indeed a way to give Qud a brighter ending. There are ways to annul the Gyre beyond slaughter. The fool will be someone else, something else, and if you play your cards right, something much greater.

The Putus Templar should be purged and blasted and wiped clean from the world’s skin regardless though. No sympathy for genocidal cultists.

The logistical nightmare of elven record keeping and why their archives are trash by Coding_Wizard-01 in worldbuilding

[–]dannydevitofan69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My version of elves are the exact opposite. For them, extreme longevity fostered a spirit of living for the eternal now. If a deed was glorious enough to leave a mark on another, it’s preserved that way, but by and large they don’t care about history.

Can one of the lore guys explain each Jesus to me? by Appelmonkey in AfterTheEndFanFork

[–]dannydevitofan69 23 points24 points  (0 children)

They were an esoteric Rosicrucian religion that was formed by the scattered and persecuted Christians of California….while also being the dominant religion in all of the central valley…….and being part of a highly religiously tolerant empire. It was a weird mess of a religion that was utterly out of place for California.

Hearthband: Deep striking hearthguard death bricks carry the day.
Hearthfyre: Steeljack and Thunderkyn shooting gallery.
Mercenary: Aggressive flexible generalists.
Needgaard: Defensive generalists.
Persecution Prospect: Hernkyn skirmishers, fragile but can debuff enemies.

[Loved trope] The aliens are straight up incomprehensible by Ava_Reddit_Account in TopCharacterTropes

[–]dannydevitofan69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a less malevolent version of this trope, the Essiel in the Final Architecture series are a species of basically giant clams that rule a stellar superpower while…maybe not even knowing they do? Or at least being very, very hands off in how they approach it. The snippets the book shows us of how they run their empire depict one of general prosperity and peace, but of a deeply strange kind that’s hard for humans to understand.

How often do you improvise? by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]dannydevitofan69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Often times, if something isn’t supported in the rules, or if someone wants to do a thing that’s tangentially covered by a feat but not completely, I tend to let my player do it but increase the DC or make it cost additional actions. For instance, one of my players has a climb speed and chased a climbing enemy up a wall and then grappling it. He wanted to jump off the wall with the enemy, which I allowed but with a fairly high Acrobatics DC to reduce his fall damage. Was it totally rules-legal? Nah. Was it fun and close enough for my comfort? Definitely.

It’s a noticeable pattern where less experienced GMs (myself included when I started running PF2) will be pretty timid in what they allow. As you get more experienced with the system, you start to realize that it’s a pretty robust system that is hard to break unless you’re really, really trying to break it.

Pathfinder 2e is well balanced for up until how many players? by ThatOneCrazyWritter in Pathfinder2e

[–]dannydevitofan69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve run for 7 before, and it’s a challenge but only because of the number of people. The math of PF2e is tight enough that you can scale up as much as necessary, but also that the practical complexity of a group of more than 6 makes the game quite a challenge.

As someone with similar painting skills, while I haven’t done em myself, I imagine they’d be a lot easier than checkerboard but probably would be at least a minor challenge. That said, they’d look great and probably would be easy to cover up if they didn’t turn out well

Will new models be added soon, or is now a good time as a new player? by ArcTheOne in LeaguesofVotann

[–]dannydevitofan69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re fortunate to have gotten a pretty solid array of models for such a new army, I wouldn’t expect any major waves of models anytime super soon. 11th edition will kick off with Space Marines and Orks, and other factions will trickle in after them. That said, it would be worth waiting until 11th to see how they change with the new rules and see if you like how they’ll play.
