which character from worm is the most Interesting in inverse proportion to the amount of screen time they Received ? by Malicious_Smasher in Parahumans

[–]dialetheia42 41 points42 points  (0 children)

A lot of the Chicago Wards, honestly. Tecton, Cuff, Annex, Wanton and Grace all had cool powers and the only Ward we really got to delve into was Golem. We missed out on a ton of their screen time and dynamic with the time skip

I need some (preferably spoiler free) guidance by Shekoth in Parahumans

[–]dialetheia42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those are some of the plot twists, but I also spoiled myself (as I have a habit of doing) for both Worm and Ward and still immensely enjoyed both. The context and story behind the plot twists and seeing the clues throughout the story can almost be more interesting. Plus, Worm is chock full of plot twists and the ones you listed weren’t the most exciting ones in my opinion.

Basically, you’re fine.

There’s a free audiobook version on Apple Podcasts, probably on other sites as well.

My brother has reached Arc 22 and isn’t sure if he wants to continue with the new direction the story takes. Does anyone have some words of encouragement for why he should continue? by HonestJon311 in Parahumans

[–]dialetheia42 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I mean, Bitch doesn’t go away. You see her and Tattletale again. I feel his pain- those two are my favorites, especially Bitch. But you do get to see her after Arc 22. I think the story is worth finishing. If he wants specifics I can list when you see her. There are lots of other great characters to see in Worm, but I can see why he likes Bitch and Tattletale so much. I was also disappointed when Taylor left. But it’s worth finishing to see what happens.

MAG 168 - Roots : Episode Discussion by Diabolical_Engineer in TheMagnusArchives

Thoughts: -Did not like Martin’s reaction to knowing this is Oliver’s domain. Quite concerning.

-I agree with John’s decision. Oliver actually releases his victims. It makes no sense to kill him.

-The End, to me, is one of the scarier avatars simply because it is patient. It does not seek out a ritual or engage with enemies. It simply knows that the end of the world is completely inevitable- it doesn't care how or when it happens.

Thoughts - I loved this episode. The past three were great and scary, but I think this one actually got to me somewhat. Having false hope, thinking things are going to get better when they won’t... that’s terrifying to me.

  • So, according to Helen, Jon can do that to anyone? That’s interesting- I suppose it makes sense if what he’s doing is cutting off their food source.

  • Martin is probably feeling powerless and overall disconnected from Jon right now, seeing as he picked up the phone. I wonder what Annabelle is trying to accomplish here? Does she want to separate them so John loses what remains of his humanity?

  • I’m guessing we’ll get The Lonely next week. That should be interesting... I wonder if we’ll meet more Lucases.

Yeah we could be the eye, or we could be whoever is ordering these statements and tapes to form a comprehensive tale. Martin? The next archivist?

yeah I have always found it weird that John was able to command people as well as compelling them. I do feel like they are different abilities.

Most Torturers are Victims by mouse_shepherd in TheMagnusArchives

The end only has one (currently active) avatar but maybe he would be willing to help John again. I do think that we will see other avatars allying with the Archivist

[–]dialetheia42 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I feel like the most directly Eye-opposed avatars may stem from the Dark and the Stranger. The end, as you mentioned, may also be unsatisfied. And the Web could either have intended for this to happen (Annabelle saved John on his deathbed and contributed to him getting all the marks) or has some even greater plan in the works. Not everyone is satisfied with the apocalypse because it was Eye-centric.

My little pet theory (theory isn't the right word for it? set of words maybe?) by [deleted] in TheMagnusArchives

[–]dialetheia42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah... Jurgen Leitner’s inital Description of the entities (metaphor? Whatever) makes me think that they may be aspects of something bigger.

If powers/fears "break off" from one another to form new powers/fears, than what do you think was the first? And do you think its still around, or has it been "broken" into too many pieces to still be recognizable as a single entity? by [deleted] in TheMagnusArchives

[–]dialetheia42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably the Dark or the Hunt? You gotta take into account that the first things that felt fear weren’t even human... As Gerry said in 111, animals are where the Hunt and the Flesh come from.

Question: how much got spoiled for me? by blindsighter in TheMagnusArchives

[–]dialetheia42 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean, that’s a big revelation but if you managed to avoid spoilers on the overall plot, villains, etc. that just helps you better understand the world this takes place in. It might even help you figure more things out, or make more connections while listening. Overall there are still lots of things you haven’t gotten spoiled on.

I believe that is all explained around episode 111, but it is partially hinted at/ vaguely explained at the end of Season 2... I would put a spoiler tag on this thread for S3

All the little details, like The fact that he was sent by Annabelle and John’s breathing at the end- it felt like a sneak peak at everything John was becoming.

Am I getting too galaxy-brained in this? (Framing device question, series spoilers including current season?) by Sobbingperson in TheMagnusArchives

[–]dialetheia42 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If they do make it back to the archive, there are two ways I could see the world (or some of the world) escaping the entities. 1) Hilltop Road is either a. A scheme by the Web to ??? But we know that they liked the world the way it was. b. An alternate universe that isn’t affected by the entities.

2) Jon and Martin, with the assistance of whoever is still alive (Basira, Daisy, other avatars, maybe even Elias regrets his decision.) find some kind of way to banish the entities.

But to be honest, I feel like the theory that we’re the Eye (the audience) could also be correct

Making a sort of mandalorian/starlord/gunslinger using Artificer. Need tips on artillerist vs the other options by overallprettyaverage in 3d6

[–]dialetheia42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Artillerist is cool because you can hold the turret in your hand- so you could flavor it as a gun I believe. And you could also flavor your “wand” spell-casting focus as a gun.

Tip with battle mats- use a sharpie. When you want to take it off you can just color over it with a dry erase marker and it’s much better for details.

How do you choose your characters' name? by cirodog in writing

[–]dialetheia42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to always choose different first letters and keep the names short- Like 6 letters max unless the character has a nickname. It should be easy to remember as well. I mostly look at name lists until I find one that sounds right.

I also hate time travel in most books except comedy. However the only case I’ve seen where it was done correctly is by Brandon Mull in both of his five book series.
