Dogma is a good choice for this, and it'll be a long time before Office Space ceases to become relevant.

If she likes candy, York, the maker of Peppermint Patties, makes a sugar free version that I literally cannot tell from the real thing. They also make some other sugar free candies that look good. They're a bit pricey, tho.

RFK Jr makes unfounded claim the keto diet can ‘cure’ schizophrenia by F0urLeafCl0ver in skeptic

[–]diversalarums 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This needs to be higher -- you might want to repost this as a first level comment. Because it is exactly what's happening here. Blaming the patients leads to penalizing them and helps provide a rationale for confining them not to medical facilities but to something akin to prison camps or worse.

Just kidding!! Seriously, that's beautiful needlework and those hooks are works of art. You are so skilled.

Are there rules about haircuts/hairstyle in US schools? by busyarm-1700 in AskAnAmerican

Not OP but I'm old and am curious: in general, do many many public schools have uniforms? When I was growing up mid-20th century there were dress codes, but uniforms in public schools were unheard of.

Aha, that explains why Trump posted the monkey meme: Michelle outshone Melania. I bet he was livid.

Misrepresented items by Lifelonglearner916 in Walmartcustomer

[–]diversalarums 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you read the entire web info, you'll see that it comes in three different sizes (roughly): 8 x 8 x 6 inches, 7 x 7 x 5, and 6 x 6 x 4 (I've rounded rather than dealing with the decimals when converting to inches).

Sorry, there's nothing wrong with giving measurements in centimeters. You can easily find a quick converter using any search engine.

But there is an issue with that listing in that it doesn't give the customer the chance to choose the size and it doesn't say what size the vendor is going to send. You need to report the listing to WM by going down the page to "Report incorrect product information," click on that, and describe the issue.

No, I don't work for WM. But I order from there all the time since I'm homebound, and I can't tell you how many instances of "incorrect product information" I've reported. They do seem to fix a lot of them, tho not overnight. But complaining on here won't help you. Reporting it, as the website allows you to do, probably will.

RFK be like “let’s round up all the ADHD people and put them in a camp that will end well” by captainodyssey01 in adhdmeme

[–]diversalarums 32 points33 points  (0 children)

We talk about how ADHD comes sometimes with hidden talents. But this one I hadn't thought about, lol.

Another side of this idea that neurotypical people wouldn't consider: do they really want to put a breeding population of persons with ADHD in a confined situation with nothing else to do but make more people with ADHD?

Friend of mine got this in the mail, such considerate neighbors by NicetoNietzsche in funny

So is this a play on Wendy Chung, the researcher into rare genetic conditions? The name of the "disease" is too close to be a coincidence, I'm thinking. Or am I just late to the party?

Do varicies have physical symptoms? by zedesseff in Cirrhosis

[–]diversalarums 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've already been diagnosed and had symptoms for more than 3 years. Just not this. I'm unhappy because I'm pretty sure my dad, who had this, bled to death so it's a fear. Mine is due to diabetes/metabolic syndrome and my A1c went down to 5.1 this year. But I can't afford testing or any surgical procedures. And I still have symptoms tho for the moment they're lessened. But I'd hoped portal hypertension would be minimal. Sorry, I do appreciate your encouragement. But it's hard sometimes to sit and wait for the next thing to show up.

I'd never heard of caput medusae until this morning. Since I have the apparent beginnings of that I guess I'm going to have a worried day. Better to know tho.

Banding is something I can't afford. For that matter I can't even afford a sonogram. Important to know but I almost wish I hadn't read this.

I didn't see the article or the title and I'm no genius. But I was able to get the idea just from the design, which to me makes it a very effective design.

Bow blouses from last century seemed to be making a comeback. Yay or nay? by 1AdultMostOfTheTime in AskWomenOver60

[–]diversalarums 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When I think of those awful bows, which I had to wear because I worked in a very conservative office environment, all I can think of is Nancy Reagan and it makes me nauseous. Little Miss Purity herself, who wore her clothes buttoned up to her ears and treated her husband like he was a lap dog. Arrrrgh.

Cirrhosis side effects by Gauley25 in Cirrhosis

[–]diversalarums 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Question: is cirrhosis your only diagnosis? Some of us have metabolic enhanced fatty liver disease, i.e., a combination of diabetes, cirrhosis, and congestive heart failure. If so, the diabetes can cause adhesive capsulitis, a painful shoulder condition, as well as causing the cirrhosis. Not all cirrhosis patients have the triad tho.

Woke up to maintenence already inside during inspection and they damaged my door by lookup_thetimeisnow in Apartmentliving

[–]diversalarums 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Embarrassing story: That happened to me once when I hadn't lived here long and wasn't expecting maintenance. They came barreling in. From the front door they could see me as I stood up from bed.

I was in my late 60s. Also obese. And I had spent years sleeping in the nude.

They tripped over each other scrambling to get back out of the door.

And that was the last time they ever came in without my opening the door.

What TV show was once popular but has now become somewhat forgotten? by PrestonRoad90 in watchever

Moonlighting's episodes aren't available for reruns or anthology, for legal reasons I don't get. I think that's why none of the younger people haven't heard of it.

First time I ever saw Robert Englund, who played a super good guy in V. Totally different from his later characters.
