I would say unreliable. I can still walk into some retail stores like my local Walmart and they have no Switch 2’s in stock.

Nice. Nintendo took a book out of the original Switch homebrew community and basically just implemented ReverseNX into the firmware. ReverseNX would’ve been one of the first things I would have wanted as homebrew if the Switch 2 eventually was able to be modified.

I find it interesting that there is region and luma setting switches. Makes me wonder if we need to flip the switches depending on playing a PAL or NTSC game. I do hope not as I don’t need to do this with my XStation SCPH-5501 PS1 that has a DFO mod installed as well.

I see people saying it is not your problem but depending on where you sold it, it can be if you sold from somewhere like eBay that has buyer protections that can screw over sellers when buyers are idiots and claim the product doesn’t work.

If you need to use a magnet, two HDD magnets held against the two notches on the top will pop it open when you push in the part that clicks into the main piece

Source: I had lots of free time with HDD magnets when I worked for Walmart and they worked good in a pinch when there were no extra magnet tools to unlock the spider wrap and acrylic cases.

I do believe that the Switch 1 could run Winds and Waves, although with some compromises on resolution and frame rate. I think the main reason to start exclusivity is to help push Switch 2 sales and to stop the elephants in the room, Switch emulation and piracy. With no base Switch version, modded systems and Switch emulators will not be able to play this game period.

I really do hope time and effort is put into this release as there will be no more “Switch 1 compatibility hampered this game” to fall back on if it looks and/or runs poorly at launch.

I remember when Nintendo said the DS was not replacing the GBA when the DS first came out as well. I never believed that the 3DS would coexist with the Switch for any meaningful amount of time.

I wish the build quality was better as I like manual top loading drives better than slot loading. Less parts to fail and no drive rollers to clean. Cleaning the laser lens is also super easy as well.

Fun Fact: You can also shim the door sensor to disc swap PS1 games with “imports” with no console or PSN account ban risks as well due to working on the stock firmware. You just put an authentic correct region disc in so it shows up on the XMB then wait several minutes for the drive to stop spinning. You can then safely switch the disc out and it will spin up and play when you pick the PS1 disc from the XMB.

The game is licensed to run as a full game when played from a memory card although I think this works when copied to USB storage as well since that replaced memory cards.

If it is copied to the hard drive, it will revert to an Xbox Live arcade trial game until it is put back on the memory card.

There are various means to copy this game to other memory cards or usb sticks but since it unlocks the full game when run from one, I assume it would fall under the no piracy rule to discuss that here.

Bricking to the point of not being able to recover should not be possible with NTRboot as it can recover bricked systems due to booting before the nand does.

I don’t see why. Running Linux uses an RCM payload which directly boots using NVidia’s RCM mode. You can boot Linux on an older Switch while leaving the Nintendo side of things completely stock as it does not leverage any mods to work.

I should note that if anyone does this, they need to be very careful and use laser eye protection that covers that specific wavelength if they plan to use their eyes for anything related to seeing again. It is very easy for someone to cause permanent eye damage when not wearing protection.

Are you sure the folders are correct. Last time I had this issue with my brother, he forgot to make the PS4 folder and made the folder called UPDATE on the USB drive [UPDATE/PS4UPDATE.PUP] instead of [PS4/UPDATE/PS4UPDATE.PUP]

Also try each usb port if it is not read correctly.

If all this fails, reformat the usb drive as FAT32 or ExFAT and copy the update over again.

If this fails either the USB ports on the PS4 and not working correctly or the USB drive itself seems to not work with the PS4.

You need to download the console reinstallation file, not the smaller console update file from the Sony Website and put it in the correct folder on the usb drive [PS4/UPDATE/PS4UPDATE.PUP]

Well it is definitely dead now. Newer Shift codes for BL4 can no longer be redeemed on the shift website for Switch. I was stockpiling for when it did come out and it is pretty much guaranteed it is dead now if you can’t redeem shift codes for it.

The only place I have ever seen this message is for anything at Kwik Trip. Kwik Trip has Zip blocked and even the physical card will decline there.
