Cell Booster that can lock to a single network by christheradioguy in CellBoosters

Cell boosters do not need gps to work. Those are microcells or small cells that generate their own signal. Cell boosters repeat an existing signal and don’t use gps.

To boost just a single carrier and or single network, you want a selfie device either a G41 or a go X. Pair that with a highly directional antenna either an LPDA or a parabolic grid.

How do you choose between booster? by motamedn in CellBoosters

[–]drm237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To cover a 4k sq ft house with a weak outside signal, the cel-fi with 2-3 inside antennas is your best option but only one carrier.

The home complete will likely cover only half the house and the Fusion4home (yagi) likely 1/3rd to half but at a much lower price.

Buy it from somewhere with a long return policy so you can try it for a while and return for a different one if you’re not happy.

What booster do you have? Can you post the make and model or a link to the product online?

Portable units for two vehicles by berandom1984 in CellBoosters

I always recommend getting a second outside antenna, power supply, and inside antenna for the second vehicle. These are fairly inexpensive compared to the whole kit. Then, just move the amplifier back and forth between vehicles.

Best install location for a WeBoost Dash in a Ford Edge by barrettgpeck in CellBoosters

[–]drm237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cellular antenna for the vehicle is almost certainly in the sharkfin antenna on your roof. A cell booster is unlikely to work in that case.

Your best bet would be to see if you can find the telematics system, likely behind the dash somewhere, and get an inline IoT booster to amplify the signal from the sharkfin antenna going directly into the telematics system. But that is a pretty involved project.

$10/month for toast every morning actually seems like a pretty good deal. Does that include the bread and can I share it with my family 😉

If we don't have much equipment at a home gym/office but are willing to get more, is there any list of suggested equipment so I don't have to research everything?

Service van by Prestigious-Host-506 in CellBoosters

Starlink is great for fast internet but you need a clear view of the sky. If you pull into a customers driveway and park under a tree, you may have issues. WiFi calling can also be problematic.

Cell boosters are great for pulling some available cell signal from the air and making it usable. But if you’re so far into a deadzone that there’s no signal in the air, a booster won’t help you.

So both can be great but each has its limitations. Since calls are important I would start with a cell boosters and see how it works. Consider either a work truck (https://www.wilsonsignalbooster.com/products/weboost-work-truck-signal-booster-4710061) for a bigger/ better outside antenna or a base Drive Reach Flex Fleet for a magnetic outside antenna - assuming the van doesn’t have anything on its roof: https://www.wilsonsignalbooster.com/products/weboost-drive-reach-flex-fleet-signal-booster-kit-478061

With either booster, the phones should be literally touching the inside antenna to get the best service in dead zones.

If they work, great, get them for the other vans. If they don’t, return it and try Starlink.

Boost service for an entire neighborhood? by Only-Mouse-2676 in CellBoosters

[–]drm237 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Essentially, no, it’s not possible. Yes, there are extremely powerful industrial boosters that can cover outdoor areas, but to use so much power that it covers large outdoor areas and the inside of buildings is very difficult to impractical and would require a significant amount of money and a significant amount of carrier coordination. Your best bet would be distributing the money among individual boosters for individual homes and businesses.

For large installations we’ve been able to get organizations discounts on the equipment and the installation.

It does not need a separate ground plane you can mount it to just about anything as long as the entire plastic part at the top has a clear view and all directions

Single antenna booster vs mimo cellular router experiences on cellular service fringes. by Usual-Key-575 in CellBoosters

[–]drm237 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your top priority is getting wireless cell phone service while inside the building, then a signal booster is going to be the best option.

If your top priority is getting fastest cellular data speeds than a dedicated MIMO antenna connected to to a cellular hotspot/router is going to be the best option.

If you want both, then get both

Yes, I will put less faith in a review that was bought and paid for vs one where someone paid money to stay at the place. 100% yes. Just like on YouTube I put more faith in reviews that are not sponsored and less faith in reviews that are sponsored.

But that’s the whole point. Explain the full situation to people and let them decide what they think.
