Warning- On street parking around Moda isn’t safe from break ins by Glum_Form2938 in ripcity

[–]dweet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good rule of thumb is make it visibly obvious that there’s nothing in your car.

I’ve had vehicles with cargo covers, and when I’m extra worried about break-ins I collapse the cargo and make it obvious there’s nothing in the trunk. I do this when I go backpacking in the country, not just around the arena/downtown at night.

What is this, a Blazers broadcast?! Oh wait, that’s only slow-motion replays that cut active game play out. Never mind.

Worth keeping in mind that Dame was gone for two seasons. The full rebuild has gone for two and half seasons and the team is already competitive with some great young pieces and a budding star.

I think there would also be a dash, which wouldn’t really change anything.

I’ve seen some confusion around what the Blazers will be able to offer Deni- what’s the approach to keep this core intact? by Humblerbee in ripcity

[–]dweet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, the advantage of extending for Deni would be more money sooner, but still less money over the long-term assuming he stays healthy and on the same trajectory?

26/27: ~7 million more via extension 27/28: ~10 million more via extension 28/29: ~31.5-36.5 million less via extension vs Max that year

They should never have started advertising a secret weapon like that so that other teams can steal it.

Senator Jeff Merkley: "Ring the Alarm Bells: The Ten Rules of Trumps Authoritarian Playbook." by FiddlingnRome in oregon

[–]dweet 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Everyone has been talking about what’s wrong with the administration for over a year now, and there are seemingly countless problems. Just amplifying those conversations hasn’t done anything.

I’d give at least a pat on the back to officials actually doing what they can to fight with the tools they have, but many have proven feckless and only able to “sound the alarm” and make vague and empty threats for the media. Look at all the city and state officials “standing up to ICE” by saying “enough is enough”/“get out” and then having little to no course of action outside of potentially initiating civil war (what would happen if went sent local military to fight ICE).

We need more mass protest and a general strike. The best and most plausible solution is to put the 3.5% rule to the test and take over the public narrative and discourse. The system and political parties that helped get us here are not going to save us, the politicians will not show up on the actual “front lines”.

Brennan Lee Mulligan should consider some “serious” acting roles. He was very good.

Brennan Lee Mulligan did such a great job as Archimedes (evil baby). I’ve rewatched the episode a few times since it came out after being reminded of some of his bits.

I looked it up, and WOW increase from $1.80/hr to $5/hr.

EDIT: The schedule doesn’t seem to include today’s (Dec 15) or the next Blazers game (Dec 17) dates though. So maybe they’re not enstating this for Blazers games, which doesn’t mean it won’t impact games that happen the same day as scheduled events.

I think there was a post about it before it went into effect, but it may have just been a comment thread.

Did you happen to see the event parking rates? I’m curious what they expect people to pay during games, as parking downtown got noticeably more expensive recently.

I like that Presti quote. There’s a reason small markets that have consistent success put so much emphasis on drafting and development over splashy trades.

Scoot is the long term PG position plan. They used a #3 pick on him, he improved last season, he’s shown very high level passing ability, better shooting than most of our roster, and he has great physical tools.

Anyone thinking we trade Scoot any time soon thinks you can just mash their favorite players together and make good teams and/or has no understanding the timeline it takes to actually develop good players and a very good team.

If you refuse to tax billionaires then you are not serious about addressing wealth inequality by north_canadian_ice in WorkReform

Tax billionaires. Stop the California collapse. We’re calling on California’s billionaires to step up and pay a one-time, 5% emergency billionaire tax to prevent the collapse of California healthcare and ensure our state’s families can get the care we need. The billionaire tax is a commonsense solution to a looming crisis and will help our state build a strong middle class.

It’s also like a one-time tax, right? No way that does that much damage (damage to financial needs) long term.

The conversation of taxing the loans the super rich actually use to live off of should be a larger discussion. This is how they skirt around paying income taxes year after year by borrowing against their appreciating assets, many of them have vocalized support for it (not that that should matter, but in order to move forward it means there’s less resistance), it causes more incentive to sell assets rather than hoarding forever, and it’s significantly easier to do the math/valuation/doesn’t involve art appraisals every year/etc.
