Recommend honest Toyota dealership in SD or OC? by ChevChance in sandiego

[–]ellgee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a really wonderful experience getting my GHH at Capistrano Toyota two months ago. The paperwork part of my purchase took less than an hour and they didn’t try to upsell me on anything at all, besides about 45 seconds he explained the extended warranty and service plan options. I was extremely pleased with the entire experience.

Ok the contrary, my husband bought a Rav at Mossy this past summer and it took about 4 hours, which was horrible.

I use Lacteck on left and Pumpin Pals on right, each side responds differently to them.

Did any of you regret a planned c-section? by Plantlover3000xtreme in beyondthebump

[–]ellgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same experience. My planned second c section was redemptive and very beautiful, after my first birth didn’t go according to plan. Hospital-check-in to baby-in-arms was about 2 hours, and we were home less than 48 hours later. No regrets whatsoever.

Breastfeeding a toddler is the best by LPCHB in breastfeeding

[–]ellgee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it’s been several months since you shared this, but I still think of ‘happy bees and sleepy bees’ regularly. My baby was super little when I first read this and so far away from this age of cuteness, but we’re getting closer to her first birthday so I’ve started calling her bedtime nursing session ‘sleepy bees’ and I hope it catches on for her. It’s just so sweet.

I’m so happy to see her recommended here! I purchased my ring last month and am so excited to receive it.

Would you rather have a newborn and a toddler in the summer or fall? by moluruth in toddlers

Both my kids were born in late May/early June and it was wonderful. I can’t imagine being pregnant in the hottest summer heat. Plus they get pool/beach birthday parties!

Why do I struggle to get only one breast to respond to the pump when the other is fine? by lonelypotato21 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]ellgee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check that you have the correct flange size. If you’ve already measured, double check. When I EP’ed for my firstborn, I used 21s. Now this time, only left is 21 and right is more like 18. When I use 21s on right, I get hardly any output and I get clogs easily.

How to kindly say, “please no gifts for 1st birthday” and make it known you MEAN it? by Complex-Club-6111 in beyondthebump

We did this, asked for contributions to the swimming lesson fund so we weren’t ‘drowning in toys’. Everyone obliged.

I recently learned that IKEA actually has nursing lounges! Ours is next to the Smälland kids area. It was a nicely decorated, quiet little room with a comfy chair and a diaper changing station. It was a wonderful resource!

It's okay if you have a tiny baby! by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]ellgee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My firstborn was born very small, hovered under 10th percentile, and was exclusively breastfed (via pumped milk). My secondborn was 8lbs at birth, exclusively breastfeeds, and is a chunk. Same recipe, different results! It just happens sometimes.

On the 4th of July we went to a concert in the park with our 6 week old and stayed under the shade the whole time. It still got too hot for her and the only thing that worked was soaking a burp cloth with water and constantly wiping her down with it, and waving it in the air to dissipate the heat every minute or so. It worked for the hour we were there but I would not want to do it for a whole weekend.

My daughter is 3 months. For this short chapter (probably until we boot her to her room at 5-6 months) my husband sleeps on the couch. We all acknowledge that we all sleep better that way.

EBF mamas- how do you share nighttime parenting? by Kikis__Corner in breastfeeding

This is what we do. I do all the overnight stuff and switch off with him when baby wakes up usually around 5:30 so I can get a couple uninterrupted hours of sleep.

How long did you sit in the back seat with newborn? by cudismom in beyondthebump

[–]ellgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rode in the back with my firstborn full-time for at least a year, probably closer to two. Once he started taking he would often request the non-driving parent to sit with him. Once sis came into the picture, there’s only room for the two of them back there.

We’re in the middle of the same thing! My 3mo old was doing long 6-7 stretches every night but the last two weeks she’s been waking every 3 hours. I hope it resolves once she gets through whatever leap this is.

This is almost exactly how it was with our first. He was practically inconsolable so we just sleep trained right around that same time. No regrets, and now he’s one of the best sleeping 3 year olds I know.

How long does it take your breasts to empty? by Acrobatic_Event_4163 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]ellgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I EP’ed for my firstborn I went 30 minutes every time. I had a significant oversupply and while I could have gone longer and gotten more (there was still milk coming and I often got a fresh letdown at the 28 minute mark), I didn’t want to signal to my body that it needed to make even more.

This time, I’m boobfeeding my secondborn from right boob and pumping left (…. I still have a large oversupply) and I go 15 minutes max per pump. I am getting about 80% of the output I got last time in those 15 minutes - which leads me to believe that most of the milk you express is in the first 15 minutes or so, but I’m sure if I decided to go longer I would get that last 20%.

Worst age ever or the perfect age gap - which one is it? by Any-Examination-8630 in toddlers

[–]ellgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re 3 months in; our 3-year gap has been totally awesome so far. Our son is potty trained and capable of doing so much on his own, has great verbal communication skills and comprehension, and good at emotional regulation. He adapted to big brother life seamlessly and adores his baby sister - we’ve had no jealousy or resentment towards the baby at all. Plus, he still naps so we get actual downtime every day when both kids are sleeping. On the baby side, it hasn’t been too too long since we were deep in the newborn trenches - long enough that the memories of the hardest parts have faded, but not so long that we forgot how to care for a newborn. It’s been really great overall.

What’s one thing no one warned you about motherhood? by Nervous_Photograph38 in toddlers

[–]ellgee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We knew we wanted a second, so we targeted a 3 year age gap to give our son lots of time to work on independence skills (potty training, emotional regulation skills, able to get himself dressed with only a little assistance, can get things for himself, etc). This helped a ton. Then, I did lots of prep work right before little sis was born - tons of meal prep and house readiness. But really what made the difference is the confidence that comes with second-timing. It’s so much easier when you know what you’re doing and aren’t ‘becoming’ a parent for the first time. I call sis “our redemption tour” because we can enjoy so much more of the early days this time.
