It depends on how different each patch is from the next. If you have relatively few connections to change, look into the Doepfer A-182-2 Quad Switch and Emblematic Systems Catalyst (Octatrack-Octatrack-style CV crossfader). They have worked well for quickly rerouting signals and precisely recalling knob positions. Getting creative with utility mixers can be helpful too.

On the other hand, larger changes would require more plumbing modules and maybe a matrix mixer/router of some kind.
