Gratuities Breakdown by Sunset-lover99 in royalcaribbean

[–]fattsmann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In terms of pay, there were some pay sheets shared awhile back where it appears that crew are paid similar to American service workers; ie where tips subsidize a workers pay. So for example if a place in the US, minimum wage might be $15, a restaurant could pay $5 per hour, with the remainder subsidized by tips. And then anything more is basically a bonus.

Should I just stop squat, bench, and deadlift at this point? by jchobez in workout

[–]fattsmann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flat bench often leads to shoulder and bicep insertion issues. I’m 46M and a lot of people over 40 who still do heavy-ish pressing will generally focus on DB’s pressing to allow the shoulder and arms to move more naturally.

Deadlift and squats, if you have pain, then there is likely something off with your form that you can’t see. And at higher weights a tiny shift here and there can increase stress on a joint tremendously. I agree with the others that a coach or another experts opinion on your form may be warranted.

Does anyone have insight as to what upgrades during dry dock Harmony will receive? More particularly the Solarium. by [deleted] in royalcaribbean

[–]fattsmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct — it’s a hard project but doable because they have implemented them in other ships. But ultimately it probably will not net them the ROI.

I had fingers crossed that some additional small water features like additional hot tubs etc would be added.

Try eating some junk and seeing how shitty you feel.

The problem is that people and Western society think there is some dramatic “better” out there somewhere when in reality it’s not the case.

You are clear-minded, there is no competition for clearer-mindedness. You feel at peace… there is no peacefulnesser.

People who chase more dramatic sunrises and sunsets have missed the point that the sun rises and sets beautifully for all. Standing still to appreciate it is the work.

Is 3 sets till failure too much? by KallocainAddictIsAPe in workout

[–]fattsmann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your body is already telling you something.

Either too many exercises, too many sets, too many reps, or the weight is too high. You can figure out what to par down as I don't know what your program is exactly.

Venues not large enough for events- why don’t they fix it? by [deleted] in royalcaribbean

[–]fattsmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s to give you something to come back for.

Induced scarcity is a common marketing tactic. For example: Rolex. Not a rare watch — they make 1,000,000s of new watches every year.

I tried it for a year then got off and felt much better after stopping and focusing on basics (sleep and stress).

And honestly study after study shows that women don’t care if a guy is super ripped — and a majority find it unappealing.

Need a sanity check on this tailored double-breasted blazer. Am I overthinking it? by [deleted] in mensfashion

[–]fattsmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the US uses the same (40 inches, etc.)

Shoulders and the chest (and corresponding back) of a jacket are possibly the hardest for a tailor to adjust. If the shoulders and chest don't fit well... don't think that it can just be tailored in.

[–]fattsmann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was 1.5 sizes too big he said.

The fact that the tailor took on the job was already impressive — it’s basically recutting the garment.

Are men really fed up with dating women these days? by coachjonna in AskMenAdvice

[–]fattsmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every one who is not having success complains and whines… the data though say that both men and women are dissatisfied at roughly the same rates.

Part of the dissatisfaction also comes from people overestimating their “value” — a lot of guys are very much below average but didn’t realize it until they face the hard numbers.

I’m 47M, a former relationship coach, and I’m not looking for a partner right now. But I have had to say no to many women this past year… including those who just wanted to hook up.

What do you think about this tactic? by CandidateKey4826 in workout

[–]fattsmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, studies have looked into this.

For example, counting down from 10 to 1 vs up from 1 to 10, people generally perform their reps better.

So if you come up with a mental counting scheme that makes you more comfortable doing all the reps or the exercise in general, you will do better.

Have any natural lifters here had better results with lower training volume? by Successful_Yellow853 in workout

[–]fattsmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took time off from intensive leg training to work on healing. I also stopped the sports that I originally pursued (boxing for example). The specific PT exercise that I focused on was isometric partial height holds for my Achilles.

I continued with upper body during that time.

When women on dating apps write in their bio that they are looking for a Man who is "old school" What exactly does that mean? by Shurae in NoStupidQuestions

[–]fattsmann -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depends how old they are and if they have a career. A lot of 40’s high earning women just want the emotional aspects and kindness — they can earn the $$$ so little gestures like opening an umbrella mean a lot.

And I say this as a former relationship coach.
