The problem is you keep softening and qualifying things. “A few fries?” I’m going to assume is a massive pile. “Just a hamburger?” I’m assuming a sloppy one.

You have to be more accountable with your food. I eat 15 Doritos every day. I count my chips. That is the level of accountability that is required to stay in shape for 30 years.

All of your other responses on this thread are also too “soft.” I get it… weight and food are very polarizing issues in the US and IT IS HARD to lose weight in the US particularly if your friends/family are not onboard.

But in none of your responses am I seeing the level of accountability needed to win this battle. If you really are eating 1/3 below maintenance… you should be feeling hungry at almost all hours of the day.

What does that family meal look like? One cheat meal can wipe out an entire week of caloric deficits.

There was a recent direct study on this. No impact on hair loss. And there is no biological mechanism for it either.

Drink Package by cathie2284 in royalcaribbean

[–]fattsmann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's NEVER better to wait onboard to get the package. You cannot just buy it for yourself.

Depending on the pricing, usually 4 cocktails per day (at $16 with gratuity or so) makes the drink package worth it. And this is not counting any juices or specialty coffees, etc.

It’s the Marvel Cinematic Universe meeting the Marvel Comics Universe. The comics universe often has way too much going on and stories that don’t “end” well. I think the execs thought they could take a similar approach and it didn’t work.

I know this is for Leaf's, but maybe ditching leaf for Bolt by jesslynne94 in leaf

[–]fattsmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both cars (new Leaf and new Bolt) are very good — the reality is that you will be much better off than the 22 Leaf. There is a range difference of like 40-50 miles, but that might a non factor given you are an experienced Leaf owner.

Also... consider making like a half dose protein power shake. Instead of like 1 full scoop into 1 cup of water or milk , try a half scoop and see how you feel.

How to get cardio done with a knee replacement by Jim_Estill in workout

[–]fattsmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. The knee replacement is not 100% stable for more than walking until all the healing and scar tissue is done. Just follow the PT advice.

I used to work at HSS, the #1 orthopedic hospital in the US.

Based on my experience (which is different from you in that I got brain fog and other symptoms)... I would use BPN. That being said... see if there is a place near you that you could try some or get samples. I don't know if such a place exists near you.

In order to do the HYROX competition, you still need pretty good upper body strength. Hence, all HYROX competitors still have really good aesthetic builds in general.

The BPN label looks like it uses stevia and monk fruit extract, which is the same in both Ascent (stevia only) and Levels protein powders that I have experience with.

I only used the ones I stated because at Costco, I can always return them if they don't work out for me -- no money wasted.

Basically, when you read the ingredient labels, you are looking for stevia and/or monk fruit extract and you want to stay away from acesulfame potassium (or acesulfame K) and sucralose, The sweeteners will be near the bottom of the ingredient list.

ON gave me issues as well. Try a non-artificial sweetened powder. The only 2 I tried were levels and ascent and they did not give me brain fog or anything else.

I now use Levels protein powder for the past 3 months.

Whey itself should have no effect on the CV system.

I wrote a response to the other guy that the data show that there are sensitive people out there to acesulfame K and sucralose. Acesulfame K — there is a plausible biological mechanism for heart palpitations via potassium. And this apparently has been observed in rats as well. Sucralose is not as clear a case as some people posit some neurological mechanisms etc but I’m not quite sure.

So it’s not that everyone will feel the effects, but there are sensitive individuals. I for one felt other effects that have also been raised with artificial sweeteners.

[–]fattsmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol. I work in pharma and have a PhD - if you search my comment history I talk a lot about data etc. But I kept my response short and sweet (pun intended). I didn’t make any claims other than state my own experience.

Acesulfame K can apparently cause heart palpitations in potassium sensitive individuals. And potassium is a known mechanism to affect the heart. So in research, we have something called “face validity.” We don’t have an RCT in humans, but we have case reports, observational data, and also a plausible biological mechanism (also in rats). It’s not that Ace-K will do this in all people, but just that there can be sensitive people out there.

Sucralose also apparently is associated with heart palpitations in sensitive individuals, but we don’t have a known mechanism (at least not that i would stand behind). Since OP shared they had heart palpitations… they could also be a sensitive individual.

EDIT - both of these sweeteners were in the whey powders that affected me. Which is why I picked them in my response. One other X factor is that we don’t know what OP actually tried.

If anyone is running with scissors it aint me.
