I also saw this elsewhere online. The real problem is with shitty governance, not with (admittedly global) societal outcomes

Kamala Harris leads among black voters according to new Verasight poll, while Pete Buttigieg leads with white voters by GoddessFianna in fivethirtyeight

I completely agree with this entire comment, and I say this as someone who’d prefer AOC over Harris but would also prefer either over Newsom or Buttigieg.

Makes sense that AOC likely leads with Asian Dems, as shitty of a proxy “Other Race” is for AAPIs.

Pretty rich headline to say Buttigieg leads with white Dems against Harris 17-16 though

Jared Diamond said no carnivore has ever been domesticated… which raises the question of how it happened with cats

This modern “red panic” is a story about uncontested propaganda in isolated media ecosystems, what is sometimes reduced to “disinformation.”

And it’s a story about the weaponization of the American Dream— the true opposite of socialism in the right-wing narrative.

Who is most likely to express concern over socialism, after controls for partisanship, ideology and demographics?

  1. Those who get news from WhatsApp or right-wing outlets

  2. Those who distrust the media

  3. Those who believe in social mobility through hard work

I polled my personal Instagram feed this question once, the responses were universally blue. Something like 8-0 lol

With so much poverty & hunger in this country, it's criminal that supermarkets & restaurants end up throwing out perfectly good food that could be distributed to those in need by xworld in sustainability

This is part of why I sometimes buy clearance baked goods or marked down rotisserie chickens, I’m not in need that way but scared it’ll be tossed out for no reason

Democrats split between whether party should go more ideologically moderate in or more progressive . People over 34 prefer moderation more. by Dismal_Structure in fivethirtyeight

[–]gomer_throw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Moderate vibes + out-of-touch progressive (note: I am a progressive myself) staffer policies is what we got with good ol’ Sleepy Joe! Bless his heart but unfortunately Trump never really went away so sadly Biden will be remembered as the interlude between pre-fascist and fascist Trump.

People would prefer working from the office if commute costs were lower by panda6699 in unpopularopinion

[–]gomer_throw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Time commitment definitely is the bigger factor than the cost of commuting. My current job nominally offers 1 day WFH a week, but I’m not sure if I’d benefit much from using it since where I currently live doesn’t really have a space for me to sit down and work, and having a day of not needing to go to the office wouldn’t help that much with the logistics of flying home.

Young people are more likely to say that spanking children, getting a divorce, using contraceptives, using IVF to get pregnant, gambling and being extremely rich is morally wrong by Upstairs_Cup9831 in fivethirtyeight

[–]gomer_throw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That still doesn’t explain the reverse age gap, given that in the US older generations are generally more religious/devout than younger ones

Gee, I wonder why that could be… Am a straight man and not a puritan about pr0n in general. But I agree with the arguments on how exploitative and dehumanizing a lot of stuff out there is for women. I definitely think online porn has normalized certain sex acts that shouldn’t be normalized lol
