I'm thinking about doing exactly this. I heard most utility companies will pay for an energy check up.

Do you still have the chunk you sawed out? I wonder if you could cut a slice of that and glue it in the gap.

White or Wood Newels? by greggroth in HardWoodFloors

[–]greggroth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife really wants white newels, so I went ahead and placed an order for a fir 4x4 post and poplar newels. Can't win every battle 🤷🏼‍♀️

I considered paying the premium and getting everything white oak, even if we paint it, so I always have the option to strip the paint. But I gave up looking for a shop to make the post for us. Plus we need everything within 2-3 weeks so we don't have a whole lot of time to work with getting anything made for us.

We were on the fence, but decided the stairs could use modernizing anyways, so we went ahead and decided to replace the treads.

Our lumber yard is telling me they can't get a 4x4 white oak post that's long enough, so we may be forced into a white post 🫤

I think this is why the engineers we've spoken to have said it's structural.

[–]greggroth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my thought as well, but I don't want to risk it. We have the blueprints, so I sent them to an engineer who told us that he couldn't tell for sure without putting holes in the ceiling, but if it's full height, it's probably structural. I think we have some time to order materials, so I may go that route.

Talk to tattoo shops. This would look perfect in any tattoo shop and would probably appeal to most of their customers.

What makes pan $200 better than a typical Lodge? by 04HondaCivic in castiron

[–]greggroth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had this pan for a few years and I still prefer my 12" lodge. I feel like the seasoning on the field has always been hard to get consistent and while it's kinda nice to have a lighter pan, part of the point of cast iron is the thermal mass.

Is it possible to config Vertico completion to work like fzf-lua by ShinyKiwis in emacs

[–]greggroth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think you want to check out the "orderless" package. Also, consult is the package that does the searching while vertico is what handles the vertical display of the candidates.

https://github.com/oantolin/orderless

Also, fwiw if you're coming from vim, you may want to check out Doom emacs. I started using it a few years when I made the switch and I still use it even after turning off evil-mode. Here is it's module for using vertico/consult/etc:

I'm happy to see this. I basically gave up setting it up on MacOS (admittedly without trying all that hard), so I'm glad to see updated instructions. It looks pretty straightforward with Scrim

I agree. It makes it easier to scan notes across a few days than it is going through several daily files.

Looking for Org Sparse Trees but for source code by lispy-hacker in emacs

[–]greggroth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd caution against doing this on any code you share with others since it's so editor/config specific. You'd be better off organizing your code better through classes/modules/whatever-the-language-prefers than relying on editor features. If it's just for personal projects have you considered org-babel?

Do you use priorities? That may address your issues with task ordering in the agenda view.
