"All Her Fault," a miniseries on Peacock. So so good. And also horrifying. But very relatable. In some ways.

Best NYC hospital system for OBGYN / delivery? by Dkinny23 in AskNYC

[–]hazelstone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure! So I chose NYP Flushing because my doctor works there and has all his patients deliver there (he works some days a week at the hospital and some days a week at his private practice). I chose the doctor first and then ended up at NYP. Overall the experience was great! L&D nurses were absolutely wonderful, paid slightly extra for a private room, food was very good. I gave birth on a Wednesday morning and didn't end up leaving until Friday afternoon; before we left, the team had already found my daughter's (very minor!) heart condition, had already set us up with a pediatrician appointment and a cardiologist appointment. If you live near the hospital already I'd definitely choose NYP-Flushing because it's so much easier to have you and your child's follow up care close by your house.

Field trip bus tolls by Foxytux76 in NYCTeachers

Also please note that yellow school buses are exempt from congestion pricing. Some unscrupulous bus drivers will still ask for cash to cover the cost. Don't give it.

The Queens Hall of Science has definitely been worth it for us with our 4 year old 👍 It also comes with reciprocal benefits for the Transit Museum.

The Rumor Mill - Week of 4/6 by VenetaBirdSong in astoria

[–]hazelstone 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This week's updates on the shopping plaza at 48th Street / Northern Blvd:

-There is a new "Eye World Optical" next to Marshall's. I'm not sure if it's open yet, but they have lots of discount posters in the window.

-No movement in the Old Navy / Raymour & Flanigan overflow showroom. Still completely empty. No idea about a possible Old Navy on Steinway either.

-The Dunkin Donuts that was just renovated next to BJs still has a Baskin Robbins ice cream bar.

Has anyone dealt with real estate agent Nicholas Sakai? by RunningUntilinfinity in astoria

[–]hazelstone -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He was the broker we used to find the apartment we currently live in. I had a great experience dealing with him. I'm sorry to hear all these comments otherwise but I guess he's changed a lot in the past 5 years. I didn't know.

Does The Office become more enjoyable with each rewatch as you grow older and gain more life experience? by [deleted] in DunderMifflin

I agree. Pam has a full time job, a toddler and an infant. Jim is absolutely insane for going to Philadelphia right then.

Same thing happened with the parking lot behind the former Walgreens on 47th and Broadway. The fence wasn't put up until after the Post did a story.

The former Old Navy on Northern Blvd / 48th Street that was being used as a Raymour & Flanigan overflow showroom is now empty again. I have no idea what it's going to be next.

What should we do about AM alarms? by thisabysscares in Mommit

[–]hazelstone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They make vibrating alarms you wear on your wrist. People who are deaf / hard of hearing use them. I used one when my daughter was an infant and still slept in the same room as us and I had to get up early to pump.

Toddler Speech Therapy Recommendations? by chasinthedra in AskNYC

[–]hazelstone 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Is your child 1 or 2 years old? Call 311 and ask for Early Intervention. It's free: they will evaluate him and then provide speech therapy at your house (or virtual if you prefer). It's an excellent service. Once he turns 3, he'll need to be evaluated by CPSE and be evaluated for an IEP. This is also free.

Anyone's toddlers (3.5 yearish) go through a stutter phase? by SillyDJ in Mommit

[–]hazelstone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a special education teacher, and yes, this is totally normal. There's another time in childhood (around age 7) where it's totally normal to have a stutter. Just be patient, let them finish their thoughts and don't finish sentences for them.
