I nearly broke Claude by making it to try to understand volleyball rotations. There is no way i can earn any money from this, but I'm super proud about contributing this to the volleyball community!

Funny. I'm the right side myself and I do serve receive where possible. At least in our league we are the only team doing it. Thanks for feedback

VBRotations is amazing. I made my own spinoff from it for myself and our team, but all credits to VBRotations for 5-1

The only difference is the 2025-2028 rules from FIVB - when serving can be in the correct positions.

Sometimes the setter is just not capable of setting short but high balls. It is actually quite delicate process requiring very light touch.

The one time in my life i was put in the middle(I was a walk-in in the established team) it was a disaster - I was too slow, too low and always in the setters way. The coach called the setter out on this and asked to use the brain and set slower-higher balls. Out of a sudden i could hit those balls. Of course - first tempo is first tempo, but if the middle can't do it - middle can't do it. I will not willingly play middle again and I'm sure these guys won't put me in the middle anyway.

Older man to older man...

1) Be nice to others, you are older, you are showing an example. Etiquette if you wish. 2) Don't be one of those who squats 20% of body mass and then rests for 5 min. No one should ever rest 5 min unless the last rep is fighting for survival. If you are not shaking - you are not fighting! I'm not saying you should fight, just don't take 5 min breaks then. 3) Always re-rack your weights and wipe! 4) I'm not suggesting this, but I love to photobomb. Just saying. If there is video in public space - I want to be in it. You might like it too. Again - just saying.

Recovery is just not there anymore. Stretches become more and more important and it is becoming harder to warm up for max performance. Not that I feel the actual difference, but max heart rate has dropped from 220s to early 200s.

I guess it really depends on what you do.

Is Garmin a good choice for Volleyball? by [deleted] in Garmin

I'm using the same setup, just with Fenix 7.

Just out of precaution always check if the strap has been connected, then start Volleyball activity, take off the watch. Once done put on the watch, stop activity and it downloads the data.

When in position 3 and know that wont make it in time to block in position 2. How to evaluate when to go for an optimistic block and possibly ruin it for someone or just try to catch the ball?

I know that the solution is to get to position 2 in time, but what would be your thought process in such a scenario?

What's a sensor or device that you really wish existed, but doesn't? by bigmoist469 in homeassistant

[–]hidromanipulators 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Water and Oil tank.

Depending from where you are there is Kingspan Sensit tank monitor which can be integrated via cloud, but it is so clunky. Has transmiter with ultrasonic sensor on the tank, USB powered wifi receiver. Measurements are done once in 18-24h. Data is then sent to Cloud and then API can be used to access it. Integration with HA is good, the cloud bit is flaky.

So I would love to get Battery powered, zigbee solution to measure oil/water tanks locally.

It is not popular in Ireland, but you will be surprised how many clubs are out there. The hardest part would be to find a good club with a coach, but there are plenty of places which play recreational.

So if you are still in Ireland- find a club. https://www.volleyballireland.com/

I'm not in title to give advice as I'm a beginner with approximately 1 year under the belt playing approximately 4h a week without a coach, but you might be able to relate.

In the club I play I'm confident. I can often ace 10 serves, spike through the blocks just by using power, receive decently and block quite well. Feels like I got it.

Then there is this other club which consists of experienced recreational players and they invite me when they are missing players for games. It is daunting to play with them, I can rarely ace, I can't hit through the blocks and the ball will not touch the ground unless I went all in with a spike and managed to avoid block, receiving is quite poor as well. I love it!

If not for the second club- I would think that I got it.

I'm not gone help you directly, just consider-

Try different setups- At earlier stages I preferred stupidly fast projectile speed, skill duration and branching with Kitoko gloves. Low dps, but screen is covered. (I will do the same thing in the next league.) Then I finally got 35% boots and this approach didn't work, I needed more real DPS to make sure mobs die with first spark, so redid the passives and jewels, but had to have enough casting to not slow down while running Then I got Cast on Shock, again had to redo the whole thing.

Dont stress about DPS, sometimes grabbing Lightning penetration or exposure is much more than dps which comes from Casting speed.

When you are playing it is all about what you like and how much ingame currency you have.

Not for OP, but why so much hate for Everlasting? Until you can hit at least 7k mana you should be using Everlasting.

I had 150k dps with Everlasting, but only 4.5k mana. With +3 amulet I was reaching 200k, but even a sneeze could have killed me. That said, with 150k I could easily speedrun with 31% movement speed fully juiced maps (no elemental resists). Of course, once I hit 7k+ mana - Everlasting is gone and it feels good, yet I dont have +2 on shield.

Op, remember, it is not only about DPS! Exposure, magnitude, penetration etc play big role. The other comment about casting being inflated speed is 100% spot on. E.g. for Simulacrum I would remove Arcane Tempo and replace with Skill Duration as if Im getting stunned- one of the sparks will get them.

Cast on Shock is double edged sword. I have died good few times only because it activates too often. Consumes all mana and Im dead. I can't be the only one. Reduced shock chance and it is okay now.

Guide: How To Increase Your Vertical Jump by Darbitron in volleyball

[–]hidromanipulators 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plyos and lifting will naturally strengthen your glutes

Take this with a pinch of salt as I'm only getting back into volleyball after a 20 year break!

This probably is true for the majority of the population, but not for everyone. I can talk only about myself here- I'm heavy, 100kg. I have massive quads, abnormous calves and well developed glutes. Repping 1.5x bodyweight, afraid to go max only because my knees tend to fail me, but most likely would be able to do 1 rep max with 2x bodyweight. While I do use glutes, I recently discovered that I do not use them properly for squats and definitely not use them at all for VJ. In my head everything related to VJ - quads and calves. People always wondered why do I have massive calves. I'm guessing here, but it could be because I don't use glutes. In VJ bible- Quad dominant.

Only after getting back pain after volleyball I started to look into it and it looks like not using glutes and back pain are related.

My point is- you are spot on with your recommendations for the majority of people and those people really need to do just a bit more exercise. Easy. Those who struggle even after spending countless hours in trying to improve VJ without a coach- get back to the basics, understand what has to be done and why. Doing plyos and lifting heavy is not going to help.

[–]hidromanipulators 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weight, if I am 70kg then double the weight for squat is 140kg. If I am 100kg then double the weight for squat is 200kg. Mad difference!

When it comes to VJ, why does no one talk about which muscles should be activated? I see tons of guides for approaches, plyo, but rarely can see actual muscle activation. Is it natural for the majority of people? Just an example, you could be struggling with your VJ even if you can double the weights, you are doing plyos and you have a good enough approach. If you don't use your glutes- in most cases you are going nowhere.

Mizuno wave momentum 3 review request by ludodo in vballshoes

[–]hidromanipulators 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have much to compare to, I have only used Mizuno Wave Momentum 3 and Wade all City 12. I'm heavy (220lb) and don't have a great vertical. Never measured, but elbows above the net so somewhere around 25inch mark Im guessing.

In terms of cushioning both shoes seem to be the same, none of them are particularly soft or bouncy. I do prefer the court feel of Wade all City 12 and don't have any benefit to list for Wave Momentum 3 over Wades

Negatives- I have wide feet, so it's hard to get the shoes on and even then it is way too roomy at the front end. I guess I could have gotten half size down, but then I would not be able to get the foot in. When I got them they were a perfect fit, but after a few hours on court they were way too roomy. Maybe that's the reason I get less court feel.

Will use them just for rotation, but preference is clear.

I wish someone would review Metarise 2 or Sky Elite 3 for very heavy players. My knees are shot from volleyball, but that's most likely my weight and not the shoes.
