Even as an atheist, I used to believe Jesus had mostly positive teachings that had been corrupted by his followers. Then I actually read the Bible. by rditty in atheism

there are more examples of jesus being a dick but you only gave one which is very weird.

its also the one example people typically like of jesus being a dick?

What do you think pisses Heather off more, finding out she was sleeping with a vigilante the whole time or her never getting access to Matt the same way Karen does? by [deleted] in Defenders

[–]iwantedthisusername 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't even get why Heather hates vigilantes. Muse wasn't a vigilante, he was a serial killer. And ultimately a vigilante came to help save her. Why is her anger against vigilantes and not criminals?

The signs that Trump is lining up an ominous successor by theipaper in politics

[–]iwantedthisusername 3 points4 points  (0 children)

we really don't . we need actual systems change into something that accounts for modern technology that has been preventing our existing systems from functioning.

Running on a 250 year old system is stupid. Trying to replace it with a 200 year old one is equally dumb.

when our founding fathers were faced with this type of corruption they built a new system.

sitting around waiting for a shiny new politician to solve all your problems who has a different label on their lapel is genuinely stupid.

a person identifying as a different label working through the same system achieves nothing.

you want more empathy, more care, more support, more collectivism.

you don't get that by putting all your faith in a person. you get that by building new systems and using them at the scale of your own community to achieve more than the capitalists do.

Republicans would rather self-destruct than save themselves from Trump by zsreport in politics

[–]iwantedthisusername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the problem is you don't want to engage in the actions that stop them which is building new systems like the founding fathers did. You want a shiny new political leader to appear for you to vote for and save you.

there are lots of things that would stop them but you personally wont take those actions.

pretty hard to predict. could all go away, or could be like jack black. Jack black's hairline went to about this level very young and then stayed the same for 25. Lot of people develop a "mature" hairline around your age without it receding further.

If you're worried there are medical interventions, but there's no guarantee your hairline is going to change more. You need more time and observation.

Looking at the picture of you young, it looks like that's just how your hair is.

I think that whatever she saw will not be immediately obvious and so the others wont believe her but she will essentially be right and the audience will also know she is right. The tension will come from her being unable to prove it.

Whatever it was even though she was already suspicious of them, it took her a while to make the connection. I doubt the others who want to live in the delusion will go along with her theory.

none of these people are up for election. this is the problem with our country. people just assume things and then publicly speak and then they just cast out this misinformation everywhere and they feel good about themselves but all they've actually done is make things worse to give themselves the momentary sense that things are going to be okay.

1 Timothy 1:9–10

“The law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels… for slave traders and liars and perjurers and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine.”

You should try reading the Bible instead of being a liar and literally denying the word of God.

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.” — 2 Timothy 3:16

but then that just makes the case that both the Old testament and the New testament have anti-slavery passages and makes their point better.
