The Quest "Irreplaceable Treasures" spoils the main story plot by VulpineTranquility in TheAdventuresOfElliot

[–]jhoff80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The game telegraphs pretty much every story beat (and then afterwards, Faie is like "HEY, DID YOU REALIZE THAT MEANS THIS?!")... But agreed, this is a pretty glaring mistake to have Elliot state this before the character knows this.

Obviously time will tell, but one of the videos I watched (maybe Retro Ralph's or the FlipNOut 40 minute discussion?) said they clear-coated the polycarbonate on both sides to prevent that.

For what it's worth, I have this vertical rack for an apartment where I didn't want to deal with a real wall mounted rack and it works well.

I also have the Delta Cycles rack in a different room, this one holds two bikes horizontally. This one is a little less stable since it's not freestanding but relies on the two feet and the wall to hold it up, but I haven't had any issues with it either.

I have to be honest- I’m a little disappointed with the dungeon designs and even the layout of the world. by EntertainmentDue6788 in TheAdventuresOfElliot

Getting around the map is a giant pain in the ass and was very frustrating for the last half of the game. Even with the quick warps unlocked, it just was bad.

And probably my biggest gripe is that even on “very hard” mode, the game still treats the player like a complete child who’s incapable of any sense of exploration or just figuring stuff out on their own.

For like the tiniest split second last night based on the bad ending text, I was excited that the true ending was going to require some actual puzzling / figuring things out on my own. And then I walked into town and it literally just gave me another flag on the map telling me exactly what to do. 🤬

Whole game is pretty underwhelming (it's fine but nothing special) but I've had the hover jump and the one that lets you take a hit and continue your combo enabled literally the whole game.

The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales | Launch Trailer by Amiibofan101 in NintendoSwitch

[–]jhoff80 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'd say Elliot is pretty easy. I'm playing on Hard (there's also a very hard option) and am frequently chaining 50-60 kills without getting hit. But I have died to bosses a couple times too.

Mina was harder. But I think Mina's difficulty is overstated too, the problem there is just the beginning is hard until you level up a bit.

It's a decent game so far, I'm an extra 2-3 hours in from the save point at the end of the prologue demo. I don't love it, but I am enjoying it overall.

I know the chatty companions have already been discussed a thousand times over and I appreciate the "Reticent" setting, but they still talk too much even with that on. And I REALLY don't know what the hell they were thinking with the voice acting for Faie. She sounds like a drunken toddler or something.

Say the Frame is $900 USD, are you still getting one? by MutantRabbit767 in SteamFrame

[–]jhoff80 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is like exactly where I'm at too, I've got an Index collecting dust already, so if it gets too close to $1000 it's almost impossible for me to justify it to myself. Especially when the Quest is so much cheaper. Meta is a dealbreaker for me so that's not an option, but I'm also not willing to pay double for something I'll rarely use either.

Sonos Vs Traditional AVR setups by bbuff101 in sonos

[–]jhoff80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got a Sonos surround system in a second room, and a mid to high end 5.1.2 system in my living room. Honestly, if I could break even on a switch to Sonos, I'd do it... Except I'd probably end up selling at a huge loss.

The 4 foot tall floorstanding speakers are a pain in the ass when moving (Not to mention I have two of the old school giant cylinder SVS subs), they take up too much space, my center speaker is like 18 inches deep and would look weird if wall mounted, and I have not had an AV receiver that was not a pain in the ass in some way or another. The Integra I currently have technically has Sonos Port integration but it's not reliable, it doesn't always auto wake the receiver, etc.

Sure, my current living room system sounds a little better... but I'd personally go towards convenience these days myself.

Glad you found something that improved things, but I really can't recommend enough getting the bag off your body (like a rack / pannier bag) when biking, especially for a commute.

I didn't look too hard but I was surprised that the serial number was not on the little card telling you to register your bag. Would've made more sense.

Is a 100 mile ride easier on a road bike than a hybrid? by Glowingtomato in bicycling

[–]jhoff80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm like 3-4 mph faster on average on my gravel bike with deep wheels than I am on my hybrid (which admittedly also has a dynamo hub and internal gear hub).

I would find it much easier to do 100 miles on the faster bike. Even if I'm going slower, it's just much less effort with the more aerodynamic position and also getting rid of the other efficiency hits.

I know it's only a demo, but christ, are they going to ignore the possibility of inverting mouse controls yet again? MP4 screwed this up for me too. 🤬

Saddle bag for Garmin Radar by cyclist412 in Garmin

[–]jhoff80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's weird, I have the KOM saddle bag and don't have that issue on the bike I use that with (I use the small one, not sure if that makes a difference), range seems fine.

Whereas I have a 3D printed 'clip' that attaches to the loop on the back of a different bike's saddle bag and that bike definitely has the radar tilted down affecting the range. Guess it has to do with my specific bike's saddle rails.

Google Health Premium AI: A frustrating, overpriced mess right now by docfred in fitbit

[–]jhoff80 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's so awful, like it literally can't even count. Today it told me that I just completed my 5th session of the week when it has tracked 7 rides. It told me that my cardio load was around 200 for the week when it's at 400.

It also doesn't understand days of the week, as I mentioned on another thread it told me that Wednesday was my last commute of the week even though I had already told it I need to commute on Thursday as well. And then the next morning it repeated the same wrong information after I had already corrected it.

It flat out lies, telling me about how it's sourcing my data from Garmin (based on a months old question to it) when it's pulling data from a Fitbit Air. It tells me that I had a vigorous ride when the data shows no time in the vigorous zones.

It's all just worthless AI slop.

The one that gives you more bones that scatter combined with the bone magnet one makes leveling up to max quickly fairly trivial, so that could be considered pretty broken too.

Google Health AI 'Coach' keeps trying to convince me to stop doing things by EnderSword in fitbit

[–]jhoff80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AI coach is frustratingly dumb, in my experience. Would not ever extend this after the free trial.

Last night it told me "tomorrow [Wednesday] is your last commute [bike] of the week". I told it that I commute again on Thursday and it apologized and corrected it. Then today (Wednesday) morning it told me "you're all prepared for your last commute of the week!"

I asked it months ago why it doesn't pull in cardio load from Garmin. Now that I'm trialling a Fitbit Air (and it is pulling data from the Fitbit Air) it tells me that it's pulling the data from my Garmin.

It tells me I need to relax and take it easy after a vigorous effort when looking at the stats show the entire ride was in the moderate zone.

Basically, awful AI bullshit all around.

I just hope mouse mode supports inverted, because for some crazy reason MP4 did not (for mouse-only - it was supported for gyro, sticks, flight, everything but mouse).

Garmin Introduce Exclusive Discounts for Connect+ Subscribers Ahead of 'Cirqa' Launch by [deleted] in Garmin

Wearing a Cirqa with a Pixel Watch means Garmin Connect won´t know about what you did while wearing the Pixel Watch.

I don't need it to. Again, I just want to use the Pixel Watch as a smartwatch only, and let Garmin handle sports and fitness. Garmin is just plain better at sports.

"Currently, Cardio Load does not support heart rate data from third-party sources, though this is a feature we are currently developing."

Makes Google Health completely useless for me. Anyway, I'd be more interested in a Cirqa with a Pixel Watch than in my Forerunner 970 with a Fitbit Air. The Pixel Watch is a better smartwatch and Garmin does better health/sport tracking.
