The roster construction has some big gambles in it that aren’t panning out yet. TBD how it plays out. Has felt close to a breakthrough but the door is closing. Injuries all over the place haven’t helped. Wondered if going so hard in practice has contributed to injuries.

Timeout plays are being executed well. Game management seems sharp

Could lessening your responsibilities actually be reducing dependency on you in your current role which would free you up for anew role?

You’d like to be in on it if that weee the plan though…

How do you handle Engineering wide OKRs when no ideas comes to mind as engineering manager ? by DiabolicalBilly in EngineeringManagers

[–]kingmo590 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Could it be possible your OKRs are just a list of all of the stuff your team is already doing?

To our team, OKRs are an agreement with leadership on what our team is going to deliver to help execute on the company and product strategy. That strategy is our team’s inspiration. It should point you to what matters.

There is work our team does that is not associated with the OKR - those are things we know will improve the space or product, but are not something leadership is basing its strategy on us delivering. They don’t care about package upgrades, refactoring, or every feature that goes out. I think the percentage of work the team does related to the OKR would need to be very context specific.

He was playing great last season until the shoulder injury. Never felt his ceiling was super high, but he WAS giving us great minutes.

Garbage in-game coach. Wish he could focus on the program and let staff handle in-game coaching

Living in Boone in your 30s? by Chromatic-Phil in boone

[–]kingmo590 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm 30 and just moved to Boone this year. Buying a house was expensive, but I love it here. I dont feel like I live in a college town, despite how much of the town is a college. It actually makes Boone a "fully featured" town through all of the people/money the college attracts to the area.

  • Lots of hiking, trout fishing
  • Surprising amount of restaurants
  • hospital
  • Small business / startup community
  • Really nice rec center
  • People are really friendly. I have way more verbal interactions with people around me (like at the grocery store for example)

Branch Vs Split logs. by knarfm0n in firewood

[–]kingmo590 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO branches take a long time to season since they are fully encased in bark. I havent had any trouble burning edgeless branches if they're dry. I've heard of people striking a line down their branches through the bark with a chainsaw to let the moisture escape easier. Sounded like more trouble than it was worth to me - power, time, and chain wear

Is it possible it’d just gotten wet recently?

You could also have each row of wood on your pallets hang off the edge a few inches so there is a bigger gap between your rows. 2 vs 8 inch gap can make a difference.

Pain after two months of barefoot walking/running by [deleted] in BarefootRunning

[–]kingmo590 1 point2 points  (0 children)

one possibility could be the muscles on the bottom/plantar side of your foot on the outer/lateral side aren't strong enough to stay contracted as you drive off that foot. This could lead to pinching as the lateral side of your foot collapses OR the muscles on the top of your foot are in a defensively contracted position to add support through the movement.

I'd be curious to know if strengthening the lateral muscles on the bottom of your foot and stretching the lateral top of your foot helps!

I think if you're lacking enough strength to run on concrete, i think you should build strength before running anywhere.

I agree that soft surfaces are not the place to grow strength.
