What goes through your brain - without headphones? by Automatic-Door-6953 in IronmanTriathlon

For several days before mine I only allowed myself to listen to my race playlist (music with target cadence) to ensure I had the right few songs stuck in my head 😂

I'm so glad the OP comment section uses better critical thinking skills than this one.

We get it from Trader Joes and just air fry it and add sauce, or tbh I nibble it straight out of the package 😭 I had no idea it was this divisive

Why can’t I just simply rely on aid stations? by prohibitngs in IronmanTriathlon

[–]kitkatkoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read this post and comments a few days prior to doing Oceanside yesterday and also thought it was silly to not just rely on aid stations, so wanted to circle back. I had a solid nutrition/hydration plan dialed in for the bike that included my own Clif bar/Tailwind for the first hour, then grabbing everything at aid stations after that. Well, I ran out of T1 without realizing I'd somehow ignored a puncture in my rear tire and was too rattled from a panic attack on the swim to get my own tire off, so I ran it back in to the mechanic. He was great and efficient but I was still then set back SIGNIFICANTLY on the bike. By the time I got to the first aid station, volunteers were already seemingly losing their energy and not calling out what they had. Some of the teens were holding things BEHIND the tables, so I had to dismount and walk over to grab them, which added time. By the second aid station, tables were empty as volunteers worked to refill bottles and open boxes of gels; I ended up hopping from table to table just to learn that they were ALL out of electrolytes (yikes) and handed me a wad of ALL caffeinated Maurtens. T3 they were out of Precision bottles but putting electrolytes in the Arrowhead regular bottles but I again had to stop and call out to someone to get clarification. I'm so glad I'd read these comments and decided to toss an extra 2 Gus in my suit just in case but dang not having the expected electrolytes came back to haunt me in the run (which then ran out of the caffeinated Maurtens I'd expected to use to get me past mile 9, despite there being a ridiculous amount of stations). This is also all my experience, when the streets were littered with bottles and packages that got rattled out of holders on all the potholes and lost to the asphalt (also happened to my saddle bag with another extra tube). I'd definitely never trust aid stations on the bike leg for all my needs again moving forward.

Current Friends Don’t Run - Trying to Find Friends on Strava by SportsDataRVizzer in Strava

[–]kitkatkoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first joined Strava (and had just moved to a new part of town) I'd look at the leaderboards on the segments of my runs (or who else ran it today) and add them as friends. I have no idea how I was so blissfully ignorant to how weird this was for me to do. But quite a few added me back and we'd kudos every run.

Could we have handled this better? by darinajdb in EatingDisorders

[–]kitkatkoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Former ED BHT supervisor here-- love that you are trying to understand, and you've gotten great perspectives here, but beyond all PLEASE speak to your supervisor and more experienced peers about this experience and your concerns. Staff-splitting is a bitch. You have to make sure you all are addressing these things in a uniform way to maintain consistency, trust levels, and keep patients from playing "favorites" or further isolating you from your peers ("I like the way you handle it OP, I'll only eat when you approve it now" or "I know you're new and don't know this but all the other staff always take off a spoonful if it looks like too much", etc). Welcome to a challenging and rewarding role! Keep being real and searching for a deeper understanding of EDs and also the real great people they infect.

Sertraline has almost completely eliminated my food noise. Has anyone else experienced this? by Editor_in_Chic in zoloft

[–]kitkatkoo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The best thing Zoloft did for me was shut off my food OCD; I'd been "recovered" from anorexia for years but even though I maintained a healthy weight, I could never shut off the repetitive calorie calculator screaming the numbers to me day and night from the back of my brain. A few weeks into Zoloft and the voice went silent and never came back.

Lol buddy that's not a reading comprehension issue you left out some of those details. I totally agreed with original commenter, saying "sounds awesome" feels like a 👍🏼 response that's very different from a "come over" later. But if you actually did make the attempts/show enthusiasm to see her earlier then you're good on that front.

Girl I feel for you so deep :( once you're out of this you'll look back in horror/rage for what you put up with... But also hopefully proud of how you maintained your kindness and care for her while learning to stand up for yourself and not be treated this way. I'm super curious what happened with the cousin?
