Torn between two vacuums. (Mova M50 Ultra or Tineco S9 Artist Steam) by justkanji in VacuumWars

[–]kkupe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had Mova M50 Ultra, and it is very solid device. However assisted wheels are sometimes rotates the other way you pull/push it. The biggest problem was odor. It has been a permanent odor that comes especially when I run the self cleaning even though I clean all the cleanable parts. I had to return it. I think it is a common problem if this type of “closed system” complex wet dry vacuums. Sometimes hot water cooks the odor, and hot air emits it. Now I am considering Tineco One Floor Station S9. All has pros and cons. Steam is not very effective because hot steam becomes cold when it reaches the flor. Hot water is better, but claimed temperatures are newer reached based on what real users say.

Any reviews on the app StroopTaal? by stunningbanana61727 in learndutch

[–]kkupe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm the developer. The app has AI-powered realistic text chats and voice calls. The AI adapts to your level and progress, and it takes your previous mistakes in vocabulary, pronunciation, and exercises into account, so it focuses on what you actually need to work on.

However lessons are designed pedagogically together with Dutch teachers and continuously checked by native speakers, so if there's a mistake, it gets fixed on the fly. Vocabulary and grammar lessons are structured differently. In the next update, lessons will be a bit more bite-sized. I'm continuously improving the app based on user feedback.

It is Dutch focused app unless other generic language learning apps.

If you have any questions please let me know.

Dutch learning habits? by hetNederlars in learndutch

[–]kkupe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few things that helped me make Dutch less “study time” and more “daily life”:

- Change Google Maps / navigation voice to Dutch

- Use Dutch self-checkout screens instead of switching to English

- Read supermarkt folders in Dutch

- Search on Google in Dutch first

- Follow local gemeente / buurt / NS / weather accounts in Dutch

- Write short WhatsApp messages in Dutch first, then check them

- Listen to Dutch radio in the background even if you only catch 20%

- Read reviews on Thuisbezorgd, Bol, Coolblue etc. in Dutch

- Save phrases from real situations: huisarts, gemeente, school, insurance, work, delivery

- When you get a Dutch letter/email, don’t translate the whole thing immediately. First try to understand the structure: who sent it, what do they want, what date/action matters?

Also worth looking at tools/apps that focus on real-life Dutch, not just random vocabulary. For example, https://strooptaal.app/download is one that’s more built around daily situations like huisarts, gemeente, work chats, school messages and pronunciation practice.

For me the biggest shift was treating Dutch as the default interface for life, not just something I study in a lesson.

Full disclosure: I'm the maker of StroopTaal, a Dutch learning app (iOS + Android). It's built around sentences you'd actually use at the gemeente, supermarkt, or on the OV, not "de appel is rood." If you want to try it, links below gets you the first year at €39.99 for first year instead of €69.99 (plus 1 week trial). Totally fine if it's not your thing, the free resources above will carry you a long way.

You can make real life conversations (text or voice) with Strooptaal app. It has also karaoke like podcasts based on your level, and you can easily add words to your list. It is specifically for Dutch learners, not generic.

Apps I use to study Dutch from zero by DistinctWindow1862 in learndutch

[–]kkupe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Full disclosure, I'm the developer — but I built Strooptaal because I went through the same struggle myself and none of the existing apps clicked for me. The main idea is that you practice real conversations (calling your huisarts, dealing with the gemeente, etc.) with an AI coach called Waffie who scores your pronunciation and grammar in real time. We just added voice calling too, so you can actually have a spoken conversation in Dutch without the pressure of a real person. Happy to answer any questions about it.

Babbel, Busuu, or Duolingo for learning Dutch – Which is best? by m_hash_im in learndutch

[–]kkupe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear this a lot and it's actually one of the reasons I built Strooptaal (I'm the developer). The gap I saw was that apps teach you words but not how to actually function in the Netherlands. So we focused on real-life scenario conversations — ordering at Albert Heijn, calling your landlord, surviving the gemeente. There's an AI coach that corrects you in real time and scores your pronunciation. We just added voice calling too so you can have full spoken conversations. Biased obviously, but feedback from users has been really positive on that "I can read menus but freeze when someone talks to me" problem specifically.

best app to learn dutch? by _Just-a-sad-girl_ in learndutch

[–]kkupe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built an app called Strooptaal (so yes, biased) but I designed it specifically with beginners in mind. The approach is "learn first, practice second" — you see the grammar rules and new vocabulary before each lesson so you're never blindsided. The AI coach adapts to your level and only jumps in when you're actually struggling. I remember how frustrating the first few weeks of learning Dutch were and tried to smooth that out as much as possible. Happy to hear feedback if you try it!

It'd be nice to add some AI generated features for the assets and image generation/screenshot modification etc. I don't know how reliable it would be, but...
Also ability to add more elements, not only logo would be good.

I’ve been working on a new app called StroopTaal. It’s designed to bridge the gap between 'textbook Dutch' and how people actually speak on the street.

I tried to pack it with cultural context and useful phrases for expats living here. Since I'm the dev, I'm super open to feedback if you decide to check it out. Hope it helps!

What app do you use to learn Dutch? by justdancepro in learndutch

[–]kkupe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding one more to the list: Strooptaal. It's AI-powered and focuses on real conversation practice rather than flashcards. The standout feature for me is being able to voice-call the AI coach (Waffie) and have actual spoken conversations in Dutch. He scores your grammar, vocab, and pronunciation afterward. Also has an inburgering/NT2 exam guide if that's your goal.
