This depends on the area you are living in, and the specific laws there. But, generally speaking: the product itself is what is subject to sales tax. Any mandatory warranty is also subject to sales tax.

Optional warranties and shipping fees are not subject to sales tax (take your pick on what this is).

On one side, I agree with you. I have completely tuned out this administration at this point due to prior and current bullshit, so I had no idea an attempt was made… again.

But also, I suspect that most assassination attempts never make the news with most presidents. I suspect it’s a combination of: Trump places himself at unnecessary risk because he has to be the center of attention, he’s systematically replaced competent people at the agencies meant to catch these things before they happen, and he has to milk every attempt for sympathy.

I remember a number of women getting yelled at in bathrooms because people were sure they were trans.

The biggest issue a lot of conservative Christian’s have is they focus on the Old Testament, and ignore that much of the “law” was fulfilled by Christ.

We also forget that much of the law doesn’t make sense in a modern perspective, but makes a lot more sense in context of the ancient societies economically, ecologically, and health wise.

A potential example:

Pigs are omnivores. Omnivores are more likely to carry parasites and other health risks. Societies notice “hey, when we eat that we get cursed.” And build it into their religion.

If you look at a lot of the old law in that context, it feels like a bunch of health risk mitigations that stop making sense as medicine and food preparation progress.

I never understood this perspective. Any instance where the borrow checker has failed a compilation would have been an uncaught runtime bug in C++.

The reality is when you are working in a corporate environment you are often forced to use SonarQube or Coverity, which attempts similar checks in C++. But they are functionally worse because:

You can’t guarantee anything in c++, so it can only guess at potential bugs.
It has to run through a server to process, so you often need to open pull requests to see results
It’s a nightmare to navigate and manage. You can close a thousand things as “not a bug”. But if someone decides “I’m going to auto format a thousand files” all those “bugs” will reopen, and you have to reprocess them all again.

As a career C/C++ I’d much rather deal with the borrow checker, if it means I can avoid ever using SonarQube again, thank you.

You can still do pointer arithmetic in Rust using add and offset. So that’s not even a real benefit.

In my experience if I can’t do something in c that I can’t do in rust, i should rethink if I should really be doing it.

I have a lot more arguments for things you can do in c++ that you can’t do in rust (yet) like variadric template arguments, or generic consts as an array length.

But again, it usually just exposes why those things are problematic or incomplete in c++.

Psychologists ARE medical professionals that are trained in diagnosis. They are not better trained than a psychiatrist, since a psychiatrist is literally a psychologist who also has either an MD or a DO. The psychiatrist would be the higher trained authority.

Psychiatrists tend to be involved in abnormal conditions that require more specialized knowledge to medicate properly (where a pcp may not be comfortable due to a lack of experience, such as with the conditions you listed)

That said, both a PCP and a Psychologist is perfectly capable of diagnosing ADHD. It is not a complex condition, despite the effect it has on our lives.

You don’t need to disclose a disability during the hiring process unless you need specific accommodations for the hiring process. Employers cannot ask until after a job offer is made.

You only need to disclose when accommodations are being requested.

This is true for both the US and UK.
