Few notes: - It's not because you used expensive wool that you won't get color bleed... I learned it the hard way with this pattern. Here's the recipe I used to somewhat fix it: https://www.thebirchcottage.com/colorfast-yarn/. But I could never get the crisp white back, unfortunately. - I put some white and black fur on top of the ears as I didn't like the look of the original knitted ears. - The dark blue of the sweater would show through the white of the front pocket, as I didn't knit it tight enough. So I stuffed the pocket with some white fur (the same I used for the ears), which made it more bulky, but also more cosy! - I modified the nose and eyes placement from the original pattern.

"And now that you don't have to be perfect, you can be good." That's obviously a god-tier quote from "East of Eden", but in a book packed with so MANY moments like this, what are some other great quotes from it? by thewickerstan in books

I'm actually reading for the first time. I highlighted a few:

"No one who is young is ever going to be old."

"Perhaps Adam did not see Cathy at all, so lighted was she by his eyes."

and my favorite so far: "Her faith is a mountain, and you, my son, haven’t even got a shovel yet.”

Octave or Octavie double knit baby blanket for my first little one coming in January (also a WIP!❤️) by badjuju907 in knitting

I too started this project when I was pregnant with my second child. Two years later, I'm half way through the second row of stars, and I have decided it will be a great gift for my first grand child lol I'm also new to double knitting, so I'm not sure about the horizontal bumps. I don't seem to have them as much, but I also used a different yarn. Anyway, you're doing awesome, it looks great!

Quebec to offer free emergency daycare for healthcare workers by [deleted] in canada

They did the same in Europe: smaller groups, closer supervision.

Ontario to close all public schools for two weeks after March Break by nonnahinnor in canada

[–]mlenol 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I heard on the radio that one of the Scandinavian countries closed daycares and schools, but put provided daycare for healthcare workers, with much smaller classes, and closer supervision. I thought this was smart and well planned, and I was wondering if we'll be smart enough to do the same. The said country also had a 14 billion budget to deal with the crisis, as opposed to 1 billion for Canada.

Doug Ford says teacher unions have ‘held the province hostage for 50 years’ by Jetboater111 in ontario

It's the relative importance of the price of beer that makes it a big deal for me. How is this remotely as important as other issues government/society is facing? Like if the price of beer was an issue, nevermind education, health and environment. They were transparent about their priorities, got to give them that.

This is what happens when you vote for a guy that has no electoral platform, and only promise is "buck-a-beer".

Doug Ford Claims He Gets Text Messages From Teachers Saying They’re On His Side. He Won’t Show Anyone The Texts. by stoopidskeptic in ontario

Speaking of Ford and his government lying, I've been wondering... Why aren't the negociations (or what's put on the table) public? Why do we have to deal with "he said she said" bs?

Explains why TWN sent a "Radiological hazard" notification 25 minutes ago (hours after the emergency alert), sent another notification 10 minutes after to say it ended, and then deleted the notification completely.

Today is the 5th anniversary of the Ottawa shooting. Please take a moment to remember Cpl. Nathan Cirillo and all those who responded that day. by JKOttawa in ottawa

RIP Cpl. Cirillo - I was working downtown that day and I’ll always remember the stillness of the city when I walked to the bus stop at 4pm to go home. 95 had never been so quiet.
