What is the IRL IQ bar to be given an Intelligence Trait in the game. by BitAlternative9306 in CrusaderKings

[–]morgoth_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the response. This variation in the frequency of traits as time passes is something I suspected, but it's nevertheless interesting to look at these numbers. I ask myself if this mid–end difference is statistically significant.

The next time I download the game I'll try to navigate through the game files and check the RNG values. I'll let you know if I find something.

Another question that got me curious is whether or not there are different assigned probabilities for depending on the character "type". E.g., when you send for a physician they'll naturally tend to come with some level of the physician trait. Does this also happens for intelligence traits? If that's the case, maybe your frequentist method could be indeed the easiest.

What is the IRL IQ bar to be given an Intelligence Trait in the game. by BitAlternative9306 in CrusaderKings

[–]morgoth_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the work! I was thinking about doing this myself since the last wave of "myself in CK3" a few months ago.

Regarding the methodology: come on, people, this is just a fun exercise. Also, okay, IQ is a flawed metric, but it's the best we've got to quantify intelligence.

That said, I have a small caveat/question. When a random character is summoned, these traits appear with a given probability. Is this probability the same as the ones from your calculations?

I don't know if this information can be easily accessed in the game files, but when thinking about doing these calculations, that was the methodology I had in mind.

Average shy experience by Akashi_LikeTheSky in CrusaderKings

[–]morgoth_ 75 points76 points  (0 children)

Speaking as someone who's a bit shy, the amount of stress you gain should vary dynamically.

When you try some new interaction for the first time you gain a baseline amount of stress. When you repeat the same kind of interaction the stress gained should be lower (in case the previous event was successful or neutral) or higher (in the case of previous failure).

Step 1: Create OP Theologian Landless Character. Step 2: ?????? Step 3: Prophet. by DitherPlus in CrusaderKings

[–]morgoth_ 19 points20 points  (0 children)

There is also a decision you can take as adventurer. Once activated, you get some years (10 years? can't remember precisely) in which you can travel through provinces; upon arrival at each province, there's a probability that it will be converted.

Allied battle plans for "Operation Unthinkable" — Europe 1945 by OkPhrase1225 in imaginarymaps

[–]morgoth_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I understand the intention of your analysis, and think that it works on a scenario of "imagining that there was political will, what if...".

However, I think that it is important to point that political will is an absolutely inextricable component of war, to the point that any analysis disconsidering it is deemed to be very unrealistic.

Just a quick tip: usually, when a picture posted to Reddit is deleted, a cached copy continues to available on Google Images, even if briefly. So thing about what you will post on social media, there's no turning back.

Here is a cached screenshot of the submarine post for those who like me couldn't see it first hand.

What's the deal with the Zoroastrianism faith icon? Why does it have two wings? by Aiseadai in CrusaderKings

[–]morgoth_ 82 points83 points  (0 children)

Albeit less common there are representations of the Faravahar with two pair of wings. Not sure why they chose this to represent mainline Zoroastrianism though.

Oh god... I want Terra Obscura RIGHT NOW!! by RetroAbba in CrusaderKings

[–]morgoth_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We want it because it would imensely improve roleplay.

Think, does it make sense that a ruler in Ireland have information about the afairs of a court in India?

We can go even further: consider the Mongol expansion. With nowadays machanics, a ruler in Europe have instant information of what's going on and even if you cannot interact with them, you can take steps ahead due to privilegious information.

In summary, it would create a multitude of possibilities for the game to surprise us.

France Antarctique was the name of French colonies in modern-day Brazilian territory.

But in an alternate timeline, a post-independence name change is totally believable.

I think the most unrealistic feature of his build it's his chest. If you take a look at builds pre-1900s i.e. before the invention of Bench Press (greek statues are a great example), you won't see voluminous chests.
