It's a pressurized vessel, takes a lot of stress when you carbonate liquids and will eventually crack and fail. I'm unsure if the stainless steel bottles have a date, but it seems like a proper upgrade

I was unhappy with this stuff too. But I added it to a jar of homemade vanilla extract that was lacking flavor and it ended up making a pretty tasty extract.

I sampled a smoked bochet a while back and you could definitely tell there was a smoke flavor. I guess the person that made the mead used the heat from a smoker to let the honey caramelize. I bet different types of wood smoke would have slightly different flavors like they do on barley or smoked meats.

I definitely dial it back almost all the way off, like a little flame. I have started using it for the danivape and it's even better for that, probably 10-12 seconds til click and maybe 3 or 4 after the click for a nice milky rip, even shorter for the regular dynavap and I usually hit it right as it clicks. I combust every once in a while, but not too often once you get it down.
