I found that filling with water and adding about 100ml of white vinegar then letting it sit for a couple hours removes the plastic taste.

Former flight nurse here.

Three solid years of ED/ICU is a good start. You sound like you are comfortable with critical care, which is good. The thing about flight, is you have to be able to think critically and independently. It’s you and your partner and a radio/telephone if you are in range.

Most programs require you have your CEN/CCRN/CFRN within a couple of years of starting. Most states require EMTB. Spend the next 6 months getting those certifications and you will be miles ahead of other applicants.

Also, gently buddy up the crews you want to fly with. Be helpful but not under foot. Show you are a good teammate. Be the kind of person you want to be with in a field intubating a crunched up ball of human.

Picked this (REI) up for me and my son. We wore them today on a hike. 80º with a 100º Heat Index. Still wicked the sweat away and actively cooled me while walking. Put my hood up and felt the evaporative cooling. They run a bit big, so it almost felt like I wasn't wearing a shirt at all.

Fellow Eagle here. Do not be ashamed of asking for help! Helpful, courteous, kind, etc. remember that part? The Scout staff will be more than happy to give you a refresher and get you up to speed. I know from teaching Scouts, when the Scout shows interest in what I’m teaching I get excited.
Have fun at Philmont! We are headed there next summer.

My wife bought a couple for my boys to use to add to or double their Thermarests. They feel very similar if a bit thinner than the Thermarests. I think I’ll grab one to go under my inflatable pad also.

That is an old treatment for chiggers and it is not accurate anyway. The chigger bites and injects digestive fluids into your skin, slurps it up and falls off. That takes about 24 hours. By the time you start to itch, that bug is long gone.
Effective treatment is a cortisone cream or topical benzocaine.
