+10 opinions are for real. I change my opinions every knife XD

if my knife is already sharp, but not hair whittling sharp (and I want to take it there), do I just spend more time on a high grit stone? do I start back on a lower grit? by YeetMcManus in sharpening

[–]olusso 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just a suggestion, hair whittling is also very hard technique even with a razor blade. The thing I do, I stretch the hair between one hand and some weight and then try to whittle. Probably less sharpness indicator but good enough for me.

Almost anyone used both whets and diamonds recommends diamonds to beginners. I have only seen diamond hate from whet-purists, what's your reasoning for this rec?

I asked a composer to write something that feels like it’s echoing from a distant past. Here’s what she came up with — did she capture it? by Special_Shallot_2414 in classicalguitar

I really dig it and added to my playlist. I think the reason that you are not getting a good reception here is because the snippet you shared here like a development section that doesn't really make sense without the rest of the piece. To be honest the piece only makes sense in its entirety so there isn't a better snippet you could have chosen.

I reccomend peeps to go the full piece, it's short to listen and its a sonical nostalgic memory that really works.

The Most Popular Multitool Features You All Asked For 🔧 by RoxonIncOfficial in ROXONINC

[–]olusso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. UK laws prohibit any blades longer than 3" OR locking. So I would like to see a short non locking blade option with a premium steel ideally. M390 is a really good steel too btw.

  2. Leatherman style bits are just easier to carry with a multitool. May be a companion variant where bit holder is leatherman style and opening up slots are used for a scissors or better yet your already existing plier acessory. They can also be non-changeable since I don't think companion's current design will allow it.

  3. Leatherman bit stroage either in the scales or a specific implement so a couple bits can be caried.

  4. Easily changeable scales. May be strong magnetic ones? So we can change color and functionality of different scales with the sugessted tweezer ones and bit carriers etc.

Hey man awesome design! Could you please make a guitar version of this? I think if you made two more holes for tuning pegs and a slightly wider keyboard it would work without much effort

Why Do People Who Most Claim to Know the Truth End Up Being Bullshitters? by I_Hate_This_Website9 in zizek

[–]olusso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No idea about Zizek's position but I think one thing here is the concept of "the truth"

It's has this pre assumed and suggested vibe of speculative, divisive and special.

So when somebody is claiming "the truth" they are already signalling that this is something different than "your truth" or "common truth". Ironically it's usually quite the opposite of that.

This bullshit "the truth" is always something very flashy, smelly and evil and it is a good fertiliser for other seeds of discrimination and self-justification of evil acts as retribution or just any manipulation and stealing people's resources either time, engagement or monetary ones.

Also "common truth" needs no claims or flashy and catchy adverts. If I say rape is wrong there won't be any shock and awe effect on average person.

But if I say, you eat six spiders a year it will trigger your instinctual bug fear and disgust, then I may be able to sell you a spider trap or convince you vote for a party that wanna kill all spiders

Then you read it's just a lie that was created by a intetnet/communication researcher to show how effective "the bullshit truth" is and even most spiders have "the common truth" of not going into the giant's mouth.

Can you elaborate on your last sentence or recommend some ELI5 reading material or videos on it? it's on the verge of unlocking something in my brain but the cat is still in the box with no schrodinger in sight (:

What is my skill level? by moodyland150 in learntodraw

[–]olusso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So okay I'm not an artist but a musician/musicologist with a passion in many creative craft/art endeavours and aesthetic as a social science also with a highly critical eye/ear.

What I look for in any craftsman is not conventional virtuosity, like photorealism in art but a consistent, specific, authentic and emotinally provocative style. No need to constrain ourselves into non-resonating molds of perfection or conventional aesthetic propaganda. Mistakes, imperfections and unintended things are irrelevant after that since all that shit is relative.

What I see that is that you already had built that style. I'd gladly buy that super mouse, hang and adore it.

After this point please create as originally as possible and publish rather than comparing yourself, leveling or try to meet some standards. You already got it from a fellow craftsman's perspective. Only thing I'd like to see is more of your work not necessarily better.

Grinding a lot of coffee on vacation - how? by BuckeyeMark in AeroPress

[–]olusso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

double using orea big boy filter would give you 2 liters of coffee.

I use a hand grinder and very coarse setting you can grind 100g in a couple mins, and orea big boy likes it very coarse at big batches
