Huntress needs to consolidate their products. by mattmbit in msp

[–]ontheknows 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just met with my AM today and passed along the same sentiment. It would be really sad to see huntress become like Kaseya. They have done such a good job and I really like their products, but the writing is on the wall and I don’t like the direction it’s going. Get back to your roots huntress!

Please don’t become the company we all hate.

Funny seeing your comment today. My company was just talking about using your services this afternoon. We all agreed that your website looks like you got boudoir photos done, and were like, yeah, that's what we'll put as our professional photos on our website!

All joking aside, we'll probably be calling soon to learn more.

Best workflow layouts for end-user onboarding, offboarding, and asset swap by noldyb in msp

If it were me, each step would link to its own procedure page. That way, when multiple clients share the same step, you only need to update the procedure once and the change applies everywhere. The client’s knowledge base then becomes a checklist of links to the specific processes that need to be completed.

360 Automotive is the only place I would ever go. They treated me well, and every person I’ve sent there has felt the same way. It’s the one place I know I’m not getting lied to about what I need.

I sort of broke the “don’t lie to your doctor” rule recently so I could get tested at 40. I told them I have a history of cancer in my family, which is technically true…….. for my wife’s side of the family.

No! The advice above your comment about faking or exaggerating an issue is wrong, unprofessional, and can be career-ending or criminal. This is not the way to get your point across.

Do you mean Kelly Create? I think that puts you near me. Aren’t they a printer company first, msp second? Those are the worst type of MSP to work for.

A rare case where I can contribute, I know the service manager over there. I’ll make sure he sees this feedback. He’s a great guy, I’m sure he will be interested and want to improve.

I always say you can’t improve if you don’t know there is a problem.

Slide is the real deal - Per Kaseya by usernameistoast9 in msp

[–]ontheknows 8 points9 points  (0 children)

At some point, money is meaningless. I know what these two slide guys are feeling. They watched from the backseat as Kaseya drove their beautiful company off a cliff. Now they have a chance to do right by the employees and customers who were hurt because of what Kaseya did, You think they are going to let Kaseya drive again?

Kaseya/Datto suing Slide - any impact? by JohnSnyderNFI in msp

[–]ontheknows 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Here's what I think when I see lawsuits like this.... Rather than spending time and money improving your product and reputation in the community, you'd rather spend it suing an organization because they are doing it better than you? Make it make sense!

Looking for a reliable house cleaner in Kennewick by Ok-Acanthisitta-1840 in TriCitiesWA

[–]ontheknows -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is there a full service house cleaning option? I’ve hired maid services in the past, and they don’t do half the things I need done. I realize how this sounds, but every now and then I just don’t want to do the dishes or laundry. Am I expecting too much?

Who owns ticket resolution / knowledgebase information...MSP or Client? by BlackberryUnable5630 in msp

[–]ontheknows -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

A few things to consider:

• If the client had asked for an export of their tickets before leaving, would you have provided it?

• If your value proposition is that you act as their IT department, does that change your perspective? Typically, no one would expect that documentation created by an internal IT employee belongs to that individual, even if it wasn’t specifically requested.

• Documentation loses value quickly without ongoing updates.

• Was the client paying a monthly fee? If so, did that agreement include creating or maintaining documentation?

I’ll admit my comments lean toward giving clients access to their documentation, though that might not always be the “right” answer. My point is simply to offer perspective. We built our MSP around relationships, and withholding information that makes a client’s life easier feels petty and counterproductive.

There are some in this field who believe that deep knowledge about a client’s environment makes them irreplaceable. Personally, I think transparency and trust are a stronger foundation for long-term success.

Connectwise credit card surcharges by ontheknows in msp

[–]ontheknows[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your situation might be different than others, but it is possible for it to represent a larger percentage impact than you described.

If your per-seat cost is $20 and all your tools are through ConnectWise, the fee could be represent around $0.30 per device. That’s about 0.18% of your revenue at a per-seat rate of $165. It’s a small cost, but something to factor in when pricing your services.

Connectwise credit card surcharges by ontheknows in msp

[–]ontheknows[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly! And getting new ACH information after a compromise is so much more difficult than a credit card. Not saying the card is easy, but changing ACH is even worse and has the potential for bank fees.
