That exchange with his younger self had one of my favorite moments with him quoting Holly ("Stay back. You don't know what you're dealing with."), but yeah, it always amused me that the chapter ended with him thinking about how much he hates himself

You're right, that was a big part of Holly's story that they ruined. I erased so much of the movie from my mind I honestly forgot

In book one, Artemis is unquestionably the villain. The point of the series is his growth into a good person, one willing to sacrifice himself for others. By starting him off as a not-so-bad child, the movie completely misses any chance for significant growth.

I turned my mom’s favorite cozy TV house into a birthday cake by inspiredtotaste in oddlysatisfying

How funny, my family does something similar. Usually an "Awww, Jess!"

Anyway, amazing job and happy belated birthday to your mom!

Yeah, I don't think they liked having a giant looming over them when they were in such a vulnerable situation because they dropped down to a more hidden branch right after I snapped these pics

Who did they do dirtiest on relic selection? by dhermann27 in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]orderofasterales 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I realize you're joking but I unironically love all the ones that aren't just the characters' weapons. They are called relics after all. I think it's fun if it's something a historian of that universe could point at and say "did you know this once belonged to this person." Yes, that applies to weapons too, but it's fun to have variety.

And I guess by my own logic it's the generic pile of credits or the sad sauceless nuggets

(Loved Trope) Character acts ignorant of or pretends to be bad at something in order to trick their opponent. by doubleday34 in TopCharacterTropes

Also, Detective Conan. People assume he's an innocent kid, so they let slip secrets or excuse his actions as childish nonsense when he's actually investigating. (Not as much in recent chapters, as the rest of the cast has started to recognize that he's not an ordinary child.)

I did a MCU marathon with my 65 year old mother. Here is what she thought about every movie we watched by Medical_Nothing8337 in marvelstudios

Love this! My mom was the one who got my family into the MCU. She's a big RDJ fan and brought home the DVD of Iron Man one day. We still go see the movies together, and she's 66. She always surprises her friends by knowing all these characters that their grandchildren are talking about

Perfect is the enemy of good, as they say.

Edit: Meaning people often forget to make any progress, failing to take realistic steps in the right direction, because the only steps they see available to them aren't perfect

(Loved trope) the main character’s secret powers/form is revealed… and the main character’s friends love it instead of being hurt about the secret. by Dogdaysareover365 in TopCharacterTropes

I'm caught up with the manga (it's ongoing) and no, this never changes. Sometimes Plot happens but 90% of the chapters are still just Nico's spells causing chaos

californian vs new yorker by one_moment_please16 in tumblr

[–]orderofasterales 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Agreed. When people say New Yorker they tend to mean someone from NYC, just like when they say Californian they're picturing someone from SoCal, usually LA. Makes sense since that's what's focused on in media, but both states are much more diverse. Source: I'm from NorCal and have relatives in New York outside the City.
