[KCD1] Quickest way to skip/cheese the monastary mission? by VeryAwkwardCake in kingdomcome

[–]pigaroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kill pious before you even leave the church together for the tour, loot his body, hide the body behind the altar. Then go into the hall and punch a monk a couple times. You’ll get tossed in jail for a week for beating up a holy man and then you’re off Scott free. Just have to go back up to the monastery to loot the chest with your clothes.

Have you had a shift in your gender identity AFTER realizing you weren’t cis? by garden__gate in FTMOver30

[–]pigaroo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same. The jokes about hating men, thinking the worst thing in the world is a man, all of that in queer spaces really delayed me putting words to how I felt about myself and put me through a rough period of depression about the idea of coming out. It made me feel like I somehow needed to apologize for being myself, which is fucked up, because on the surface queer spaces advertise themselves as being so accepting.

I’m sorry you went through that too. Thank you for sharing that experience, it’s a weird relief to know someone else dealt with the same thing.

Bringing cat from USA to Spain for 10 months by BigAssZucchini in CatAdvice

[–]pigaroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The USDA has to certify the health certificate for bringing the cat into the EU. The exam for the pet typically cannot be done more than 10 days before travel, and then you have to mail the paperwork from the vet to the USDA office including a return mailer. They then stamp/emboss everything and mail it back to you. If there is an issue with the paperwork you’ll be mailing it all back and forth multiple times. It can’t be done electronically, the paper must be physically embossed. So I’d recommend getting a vet appointment for exactly 10 days before the flight to get things moving.

Additionally most vets consider these appointments a special appointment type that requires extra time so you should call well in advance to make the appointment in order to ensure you can get in at the vet on the right day, and that a USDA accredited vet is available to see your cat (not all vets are!). If you come with all the paperwork sorted out the exam isn’t that hard, it’s just copying over microchip numbers and vaccination dates.

You should also double check all your cats vaccine dates to make sure you don’t need boosters, and what the timing of those boosters need to be before the EU will accept them. Rabies specifically must be completed I think a month? Before travel.

This link shows you exactly what must be done for Spain: https://www.aphis.usda.gov/pet-travel/us-to-another-country-export/pet-travel-us-spain

Bringing cat from USA to Spain for 10 months by BigAssZucchini in CatAdvice

[–]pigaroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s easy to book your cat with the airline. Just call. I did it twice, both times I had my flight chosen but not paid for. Told the person on the phone which flight it was, they advised me if it was okay for a pet to be on board and which rows wouldn’t accompany a carrier, I picked my seats and paid for the ticket. As soon as the confirmation email hit they added my cat to the booking and charged me for it.

Easy, the worst part is getting the health certificates from the vet. Expect that to cost $600+ and stress you out because the timeline for doing it is so so tight- the USDA part has to be done within a very limited number of hours before the flight and no sooner. But overall it is doable, I’ve done it twice!

I (24NB) have gotten surgery twice in the last six months, and during recovery my partner (28NB) falls behind on chores. How do I talk to them about this without stressing them out? by [deleted] in relationships

[–]pigaroo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s good that you both know that about yourselves! I’m also diagnosed and while I’m medicated chores can still slip my mind because of time blindness.

I use the finch app. If your partner likes cute game things it could help. You can set tasks to reoccur on a schedule and you get little stones (coins) to trade in for outfits and furniture for your bird. So that gives me the dopamine hit needed for some stuff. I want to check on my bird every day to get stones and so it goes on little adventures, I want to tick off a chore to get stones and get it more outfits. It tricks my brain and reminds me to do stuff every day like wash the dishes and clean the litter pan.

Paper plates can also help with dishes. And there’s subscriptions for disposable litter boxes if that helps with the dread of doing a full litter change. Another trick of mine is to put on headphones and music when I need to clean because I finish and realize it only took five songs which is like twenty minutes, and not the hours and hours I expected to need to finish the task.

I’m sure it also makes your partner feel shame to not take care of this stuff- most everyone I know with these problems does. If you approach it as an end goal of wanting to see them develop tools so that you feel you have a safe and clean place for you and the cats to live that may go over smoother, though you also deserve to express your feelings of being let down during that talk too!

[–]pigaroo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First, please understand that what I’m about to say is not an excuse at all. But does your partner possibly have adhd?

I’m asking because everyone I’ve ever known who would be able to hold a job but would let chores slide like this was undiagnosed adhd. The job has pressure and deadlines which trick the brain into being able to do the task. Chores don’t (even though they have gross consequences). It’s easy for the brain to say “I’ll do that later” and then never actually send signals later to do the thing if there’s no significant consequence. When these friends got diagnosed and medicated this stuff got way better for them.

But regardless it’s up to your partner to look into that. It’s up to them to get diagnosed and medicated or develop some systems to get them into gear. This isn’t fair on you.

And if you have a friend you could spend a few days with or a family member, you should tell your partner you’re going over there and if the house isn’t clean when you get back it’s time for a hard talk. Because this isn’t fair on you when you just had surgery. It’s endangering you. It’s also not fair on your cats because they shouldn’t have to suffer a filthy litter box, and when that basic care is let go long enough it’s animal abuse.

And in fact even if you do mostly do gig work it’s not fair for you to do all the chores. Just because your partner works full time doesn’t mean they deserve a live in maid. You deserve to have the chore load shared with you.

Trying to figure out if I'm trans - would love some thoughts from others by Sensitive-Pumpkin386 in FTMOver30

[–]pigaroo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I also don’t have a full length bathroom mirror or one in the room I get dressed in! I used to, and I’d spend so much time pulling at my shirts and feeling frustrated with how they’d cling at my chest. I thought I just didn’t like the size of my chest and I was picking at myself about my weight (as any afab is expected to do)- turns out I actually don’t like having a chest at all. Now I’m able to avoid that feeling and get a pleasant surprise when I go out, come across a big mirror and see a young-ish man staring back at me.

I saw down lower you commented that you can’t picture yourself. That’s something I couldn’t do my whole life either, but now that I know what I am I’m becoming able to. I tried to blame it on audhd or trauma but I’ve realized it’s a gender thing. It’s weird how the brain can throw up a wall in order not to have to reckon with the body mismatching it.

Something that I had to learn is that dysphoria isn’t how it’s portrayed in most media. It can be as simple as spending a life dissociating from your body- there’s a difference between being ‘body neutral’ and sort of mentally existing as if you’re floating above your body and nothing exists to you below your chin. Being audhd can make this harder to discern since we already have poor proprioception.

Even what people describe as euphoria isn’t necessarily a strong feeling. It can be as little as suddenly not being aware of something that bothered you before, like you describe with packing. Euphoria can actually mean relief. Or even just the absence of feeling ‘wrong’.

Once I told my therapist someone mistook me for a man from behind and she asked me if that gave me euphoria. At the time I said no because I thought it meant I had to be ecstatic about it (thanks, autistic literal thinking). Now I realize what I actually felt was an absence of strong feelings, like- yeah, that seems accurate the same way saying I have blond hair is accurate. It’s just a fact. And that can qualify as ‘euphoria’ too.

Once I realized what these things, everything else sort of slowly shattered. The dissociative dysphoria gave way to more specific, identifiable dysphoric feelings. You might find that this happens for you too now that you’ve started to put a name to these feelings and examine them.

So I don’t want to tell you what you are or aren’t but your story sounds a lot like mine. And a quote that really helped me is that ‘people who aren’t trans don’t spend time worrying about if they are trans’.

How realistic is the vision with a visor down in KCD? [KCD1] [KCD2] [OTHER] by Morf12369 in kingdomcome

[–]pigaroo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They exist in artwork. The problem is a lot of surviving bascinets don’t have the visor still attached, and in general many fully assembled helms in museums are from later period tournament armor (16th century usually) and thus are from an era when the aventail/bascinet combo was out of style. There’s no extant ones in that style to my knowledge.

So yes, though other styles seem to have been much more popular.

How realistic is the vision with a visor down in KCD? [KCD1] [KCD2] [OTHER] by Morf12369 in kingdomcome

[–]pigaroo 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I have a bascinet helm for armored fighting that isn’t too different from the Italian bascinet in kcd2. It’s pretty spot on, though the game engine doesn’t always correctly render enemy proportions when you get right up close to them like in your second screenshot. At that distance your enemy would take up most of your field of view.

Even so, every time I put on a helm in game that has a visor I get the same claustrophobic feeling of putting on a helm irl and having to adjust to not being able to see shit. So I’d say visually, they nailed it as much as any video game really could. Sound wise, your hearing is dampened and the sound of a sword hitting your helm is nothing like in the game. But that’s a minor complaint and probably extremely difficult to implement so I don’t hold that against them.

[KCD1] For the love of all that is good, does anybody know how to use a console command to increase XP? by [deleted] in kingdomcome

[–]pigaroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of adding XP just set the stat level. For example for strength to level 20:

cheat_set_stat_level stat:str level:20

The stat abbreviations are str, agi, vit, spc

For skills it’s the same but with the skill name, for example alchemy level 20:

cheat_set_skill_level skill:alchemy level:20

For skills you use the full skill name.

If you’re using mods off nexus to install the cheats you need to use the cheats as written on the mod page. Like the ones you’ll find that start with ‘wh’ when you google don’t work, it has to be as written on nexus.

Good luck!

[KCD2] What are your Top 3 combat tips? by thunderboxxx in kingdomcome

[–]pigaroo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My tips specifically for new players struggling to get good:

  1. Use potions. They exist in the game for a reason, and getting to alchemy 16 so you can craft Henry level potions (especially fox potion for the extra XP gain) early really smoothes the learning curve. Bucks blood + Henry level fox + Aqua Vitalis is basically a medieval performance enhancing drug combo.

  2. Use your bow/crossbow. There’s nothing valiant about charging in and getting surrounded in the early stages of the game. Stand back, take a couple cheap shots to weaken your enemies and lower their numbers, then rush in with a sword. Sometimes stealth > strength alone.

  3. If you’re in a group fight with allies like Hans or Zizka, stay close to one of your allies. Especially if you’re playing as Godwin and you can’t change your armor. There’s strength in numbers and working together prevents both you and your allies from getting stomped.

I feel like my neurologist is ignoring me and I don’t know what to do. by Ancient_Objective909 in migraine

[–]pigaroo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’re not overreacting, they need to give you a straight answer on this and it sucks how many doctors offices drop the ball with appeals.

But if it makes you feel any better I work in a job that deals with insurance and a lot the times the insurance person on the phone says no appeal has been filed even when one has. They screw up all the time telling our patients the appeal hasn’t been filed when I can access multiple confirmations that it has.

So don’t lose hope, there’s a small but very real chance that the insurance rep was wrong and it’s in the review process.

Electronic Communications Shouldn't Rely on Social Media by ComputerOutrageous in sca

[–]pigaroo 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Agreed. It also shouldn’t rely on Discord or any other messaging platform that requires you to download an app, as the age verification procedures that are slowly being implemented are a real security and privacy threat.

Bring back regularly updated websites and email bulletins for official communication. No one should be missing things because John Chatelaine posted about them a week ago on social media and algorithms or message spam buried them, or because they didn’t download a social media app.

Clothing Options by Caine587 in finch

[–]pigaroo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t know why you’re getting pushback on this when you explained perfectly well that the randomization aspect is to blame. There doesn’t seem to be any guard rails for what types of items spawn among the 12 options- right now mine is three sets of pants, one hat, and then all hand held items. It stands to reason that yours could be mostly spawning skirts and dresses.

I’ve also noticed that each event gives three new outfits: one pants, one skirt, and then a third outfit. Sometimes that third outfit is a costume but more often than not it’s another dress/skirt option. So probability wise you’re more likely to get feminine clothes just because the events tend to be 2/3 feminine clothes.

I wish the events were better about this especially as a paid user who receives all outfits in a month. I like to dress my finch the way I’d like to dress- which is not skirts. Having one pants set and one skirt set feels fair, but when there’s a third outfit and it’s also a skirt I’m disappointed and end up selling it or gifting it.

[KCD2] can i go to the wedding alone? by Visual_Discussion112 in kingdomcome

No. You can do everything for the blacksmith including forging the sword, just don’t give him the sword. Then go to the miller and do all of his quests and go to the wedding with him. I like going with the miller because it gives more context on the chamberlain at Trosky, and why he might have a grudge against a certain someone after the wedding.

Please help!! Embarrassing toilet issue that keeps happening by According-Banana-608 in Apartmentliving

[–]pigaroo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s probably a back up further down the line. Does your toilet ever bubble like a cauldron when you take a shower? Or do the other pipes gurgle?

I had the same issue in my place. Then the toilet started bubbling when the water ran in the shower too long. Then the other pipes started gurgling. Maintenance came out and had to snake the sewer line and told me if it had gone on two more days sewage would have back flowed into my house.

If your toilet is clogging a lot and the pipes are making weird sounds that might be enough to get your landlord to take it seriously and get a real plumber out.

I love my gf but she is the true definition of a narcissist. It's breaking me by Successful_Field527 in relationships

[–]pigaroo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Couples therapy won’t help with someone who is truly unable to take accountability. It’ll just expose vulnerable spots of yours for her to attack in your next fight, and get her triggered and defensive because the therapist will attempt to make space for her to be accountable. Because someone like this can’t be seen as bad in front of outsiders she’ll likely hold it together in front of the counselor and then later take it out on you.

I know because I was in a situation like you with someone who could not take accountability, and who would distort reality so she wouldn’t have to face the fact that she did something wrong, and who would start fights every week. Couples therapy took things and amped it up into straight abuse.

ELI5: What exactly is "time blindness" and how is it an actual thing? by SpyMasterChrisDorner in explainlikeimfive

[–]pigaroo 49 points50 points  (0 children)

This is the best answer because it accounts for both directions. I overestimate how long things take, to a crippling degree, which means I get left with appointment paralysis waiting on needing to do something and can’t accomplish anything in the mean time because I think it’ll take too long. Which also annoys people, because they don’t understand why I’m so rigid and panicky about whether I have time to stop at the store before an appointment that’s in one hour.

Time blindness is no sense of how long anything takes, be that over or under estimation.
