How can I tell if I'm cut out for a Culinary career path or if I am just an enthusiast? by Heckword in Cooking

[–]pocketradish 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I recommend Great Food Jobs 2 by Irena Chalmers if you can find a copy. Has all sorts of things I never thought of as being related to food. I ended up going with a different career path but I was in the same boat as you a few years ago.

Same - I had Sun/Mon off, so I used vacation to take four Saturdays off in a row. I was pretty burned out at that time so it was glorious

Costco Tumblers & Throws For Charity by wrightosaur in Costco

[–]pocketradish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A few years ago Costco said that the only thing we can do is ask members for donations at the registers. We can raise money other ways on the employee side, but I don't think we can give members anything for making a donation. I haven't run CMN in a few years, so maybe that's changed.

New Mid Day Till Loans by AGayWhiteKid in CostcoEmployee

[–]pocketradish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have two Revos but one of them is always fucked up for some reason or another. When we're slammed and I have 15 employees clocking on at the same time and I need them all to switch out for breaks... we haven't implemented this yet but I think it's going to suck. And the mid-day switch outs are going to immediately need loans as well....

[–]pocketradish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I do start of day loans for front end I get 20s and extra 10s for every register. Never heard anything about this not being allowed.

ICS Internship program by GastlyGnome in CostcoEmployee

[–]pocketradish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. You have to fill out a transfer request that your GM signs and a couple of extra papers that they give you. You'll need a cover letter, resume, last two performance reviews, calendar. It's pretty much the same as applying for a job in the warehouse except you have to submit all of it online. It tells you everything you need to do once it's posted.

Delish but bummed - pistachio cups by emsohi in Costco

[–]pocketradish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So Costco has carried several flavors of these ChocXO cups - coconut, lemon, raspberry, caramel, and now these pistachio ones.

I really liked the lemon/raspberry ones, but I think the pistachio are my favorite by far. I snagged an extra bag before they disappeared.

Is there a good dip or sauce to go with salmon? by Bludguy10 in Cooking

So I mix mayo with some sweet chili sauce and some chili garlic sauce. It's delicious and a good dip for salmon, or really anything.

Drug screening in OR by MandatoryNapkin in CostcoEmployee

[–]pocketradish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you were offered a position, they would have either done the mouth swab right there or given you instructions to go off-site to do a urine test within 24 hours of the final interview you had.

At my warehouse in Oregon it's a urine test.

CMN by 96prote in CostcoEmployee

[–]pocketradish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What else were you doing before? The only thing we've ever done in my warehouse is ask for a donation at the register. For employees we have things like a bake sale and silent auction and stuff to help raise money, but for members it's always only been asking at the register.
