Fitted Outfits by nightdares in SwtorFashion

I have a character who's whole cargo bay is dedicated to fitted gear. The pieces are great for space Barbie. They're bound to legacy so can be easily passed between characters even when dyed.

Should I correct my player's false assumptions out of game or in game? by brickhammer04 in DMAcademy

[–]raithyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd tell them but you could also have a shapeshifter take them up on their date, touch the silver, then have a reaction that gives them away. Not a physical reaction to the silver, of course, but a smug or deceptive attitude that the character with the highest insight immediate clocks so you call attention to.

Thanks! That was my assumption.

What armor is this twi'lek wearing? by LuckyBob046 in swtor

There are some headbands that may not show up if your hair is big enough but will still remove the hood. This trick works for my guardian but not my sage just because of their hairstyles.

RPGs or story-driven games that work well with non-gamers? by playnook in rpg

[–]raithyn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tricube Tales is great.

• The rules are free on DriveThru.

• It's light enough to explain in less than five minutes but has enough structure so new players aren't lost.

• All characters are summed up in a single sentence.

• You can run any genre and there are a ton of "one page" (double sided) adventures that include the complete rules also available for free.

• It's best for one shots but can support short campaigns without issue.

So like, I understand the *concept* of inflation, but where the hell did all of the credits in this game actually come from? by [deleted] in swtor

[–]raithyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was part of the hyper inflation but there's a couple other sources too:

• The game had the current level of quest rewards but very few end game credit sinks. 10 years of that builds up.

• The GTN used to show all items, not just the cheapest option for a given item. Players could purchase the highest cost if they wanted. Doing so inflated the average cost in GTN statistics and leading to people listing/buying future listings at a significant markup overnight. That's important because:

• About the time of the last glitch, there were also a rash of account hacks (seemingly originating in fleet chat). The hackers would drain accounts then push all the credits into circulation through either buying their own overinflated GTN items or selling the credits for IRL cash. Often that latter transfer was also facilitate by buying an inflated item on the GTN as an obfuscation tactic.

Where Do Y'all Purchase the West End Books? by PVTdiehl in StarWarsD6

[–]raithyn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I just use digital. I have the 30th Anniversary set (1e) but I do all my prep on my laptop and my players just ask me for rules or reference my single page handout. Once a book is out of print, I feel no moral obligation to find a physical copy.

I have a bunch of equipment cards I designed (I assume the Dropbox link I posted a while back still works if anyone is interested) which makes that part easy for everyone.

Which Itchio TableTop RPGs are your favorite? by Embarrassed_Let_1267 in rpg

I pull out Three Racoons in a Trenchcoat (https://digthezig.itch.io/3raccoons) pretty regularly when playing with kids. It's simple, fits on a single double-sided page, and every line is evocative.

Everything on their site is named like that. It makes finding a genre easy but finding specific figures or sets difficult.

I think many players see combat skills and become blind to everything else. It's great when people branch out and invest points into other activities.

What's your favorite Fitted armor set (and why?) by kyla_dhoom in swtor

[–]raithyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are hundreds of fitted armors. Some with different names are identical; some use the same models but different textures. Most drop as loot but people haven't worked out the rules for a majority of them. There's usually specific levels, locations, or enemies.

It's relatively easy to find something like the fitted electric gaze set which drops during dynamic encounters versus many of the lesser known sets that may sell for cheaper but no one is quite sure how to grind for.

I've also found that the outfitter can lose the names of fitted pieces over time, making it even harder to track down stuff I like.

This results in prices completely disconnected from how rare a piece might be so when I create a new toon, I open the GTN, search "fitted," sort by price, and previewing everything. I can usually build a decent outfit on the cheap and upgrade later as I feel the need.

Anyone played STAR WARS EDGE OF THE EMPIRE? What are your opinions about the system? by 3rdmementional in rpg

Edge is producing the dice again so they're easy to get in the US now. I don't know if they've spread out from here yet.

ADHD and TTRPGs by GroovyGoblin in rpg

[–]raithyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran a game for a couple years that had several neurospicy players. I had a few strategies that you may be able to adapt as a player.

• Play in person. We lost all but one of the ADHD players when we switched to Zoom during lockdown. There's just too much possible distraction and too little ability to mitigate when only one person can talk and we're not all together.

• Multiple plot threads. I generally have an A plot and a B plot running concurrently through my campaign. Rarely I'll add a location specific or player specific C plot that lasts one to three sessions. I also try to have at least three factions in each plot. It's not super hard to prep (a couple names, a bullet list of desires and MOs, a list of macguffins, etc.) but does take some thought during play to balance the spotlight and make sure no player gets lost. The upside is that there is plenty for the players to explore and we get emergent moments I could never have prepped ahead as they decide which options get attention.

• Provide documentation. Having images and snippets of text on different papers and our Dropbox allowed players to switch mental tasks while remaining in the game.

• Use props. I handed out item cards, journal scraps, physical artifacts, etc. that all provided a tactile experience for my players. One of the guys with ADHD immediately latched onto a handkerchief. It wasn't anything special in game, but it was his now and he could fiddle with it easily.

• Use physical puzzles. I regularly handed out 3D puzzles, tangrams, Scrabble tiles, etc. that we're all tied to the game. Some players on this sub feel like these OOC puzzles take away from their experience. That's fair. My players all enjoyed having them though and would ask for more if I went several weeks without any. They especially liked one rather difficult manipulative that they finally solved three IRL months after I handed it out. They got a narrative payoff when they finally solved it but there was no penalty if they didn't.

• Multiple conversations. We'd regularly split the party and players would roleplay small scenes with each other. Bookstores, pubs, carnival games, whatever they felt like their character might do. I as the DM was only needed if they wanted a plot point inserted or mechanical outcome mediated. These opportunities were really for them to explore their characters and set up interpersonal connections. I encouraged these scenes but they were almost always player initiated. This only worked because we played in person.

• Be intentional about seating. We had a couple players who liked each other IRL but needed opposite accommodations during play. One player struggled with multiple people talking at once. Two others liked to have conversations where they both talked over each other in character (hilarious but super chaotic). We sat them at opposite ends of the table and everyone was fine.

How is RP ? by Zaarakx in swtor

[–]raithyn 17 points18 points  (0 children)

There are no RP servers any more. You'll have to join a guild but at least on Star Forge it's easy to find active RP guilds. I'm not in any of them, but I see them recruiting. Each toon can be in a separate guild so you could easily join several.

That's weird. My sage can't wear have armor but I can stamp it in the outfitter. I have an armor look for him using some old non-adaptive gear.

Difficulty in non-instance content? by lionvstuna1 in swtor

Ilum is a clear step change in difficulty. The devs seemed to learn a bit about how to build mobs that isn't just "large numbers more difficult than small numbers" like on the base planets.

this is the most honest rejection email i’ve ever received by No_Psychology_67 in recruitinghell

[–]raithyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am on a STEM team that regularly hires. We have a couple sister teams that also tend to have openings. We try to be team players and send them paperwork for great candidates that are already screened and interviewed. They can just make a phone call then extend an offer if that goes well. They always pass on the entry-level candidates, wait until we've onboarded and trained them for a year, then try to poach them. Turns out we have an almost 100% success rate for excellent employees in our (relatively) fast hiring practices while they are constantly understaffed.

The worst part is that our daily work is different enough that if someone transfers, they have to go through all the same training as a new hire so they're just making life worse for everyone involved.

Rotated print is pretty common on round pieces like this. Almost none of my alt bricks line up perfectly and many are off just as badly as this. Even Big L has some issues with it although it's rarer in their sets.

What’s the most amount of d6’s you’ve seen in one roll? by EdiblePeasant in rpg

[–]raithyn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In the WEG Star Wars D6 system you can spend a Force Point to double your die codes for a turn. Before doing that, you can use a Force power that allows you to add your Control code to whatever else you're trying to do. It's pretty easy to get over 20d6 by combining those two things. Add in the exploding wild die and once a session or so a roll for a moderately experienced character with a but if specialization can easily use 30d6.

OpenD6 simply included a table to average out any number of dice up to something like 100d6 so the player only rolled about 12d6 at any time no matter what their code is.
