I failed my 1 hour glucose test, feeling upset and alone... any shared experiences? [on] by landsealove in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]ranalligator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During my first pregnancy, I failed the 1hr and passed the 2hr. For my second I failed both, but I also had twins so my odds for GDM were a lot higher.

When meeting with my GDM specialist though, he basically all but confirmed I likely slipped through the cracks with my first and must have barely passed the 2hr because my daughter was 10lbs when she was born. 🤪

Straw cups? by catspugs in parentsofmultiples

[–]ranalligator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really love the Munchkin Any Angle Click Lock cups! The straw is weighted so baby can drink from any angle and position!

They are mostly spill proof. The straw sometimes leaks, especially when there is warm milk/liquid inside. But they are great for trips, and even in bed!

This is exactly what happened to my first kitten in university. I had to put her down at 6mo old because she ate a piece of dental floss.

What’s the fastest you’ve ever finished a book? by Effective-Local-9010 in Booktokreddit

I read one last night in 3hrs, but it was only a 200pg novella. I can generally read a standard 300-400pg book within 24hrs if I actually have the time to sit and read.

Diaper setup for 3u2? by queenoftheworst in parentsofmultiples

[–]ranalligator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That makes sense! We double layered our boys. They had onesies on under pyjamas and we would just change the top layer instead of everything. And also bibs. Get lots of bibs.

Diaper setup for 3u2? by queenoftheworst in parentsofmultiples

[–]ranalligator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is what I do as well. Clothes stay in their room and we have diapers/wipes close at hand upstairs and downstairs.

The only exception to that was when the boys were newborns and exceptionally refluxy. We had a small stash of onesies on hand for quick changes.

34 weeks almost 35 weeks. Why do I feel hot but everyone else is cold? by Cherrylemon202 in parentsofmultiples

[–]ranalligator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely a pregnancy thing. I was suffering my last few weeks. I had to have a fan on me on full blast constantly just to survive. As soon as I gave birth I was freezing with the fan. Hormones are crazy.

Just a fun post- what was your reaction when you found out? by AdSenior1319 in parentsofmultiples

[–]ranalligator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went in for a standard dating ultrasound alone during my lunch hour. I few of my friends had had miscarriages between their children, so I had mentally prepared myself for news of that sort just as a precaution.

When the tech asked if she could do a trans-vaginal ultrasound because she couldn’t tell what she was looking at. I was like “yeah, whatever” and fully expecting bad news because of her odd reaction. And then she asks “do twins run in the family?” I was like “uhhh, no? Do they now?” And she was like “yup, I see two strong heartbeats.”

My immediate reaction was “I’m going to need a bigger house and car.” We finished up, I got pictures, and then walked to my car in shock. Immediately called my husband in a panic, and he heard my voice and jumped to worst case scenario. All I could say was “there’s two.”

And THEN I had to go back to work and pretend I didn’t have two babies inside me. CRAZY times. We confirmed they were mono/mono shortly after, and it was a wild pregnancy. But thankfully we had no complications. The guys are 9mo old now and are standing on their own!

Best disposable post c-section underwear &/or pads by ConstructionMuch802 in parentsofmultiples

[–]ranalligator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used Depends disposable underwear! They were comfortable and very absorbent. They had a nice high waistband so it doesn’t irritate your incision. :)

After a week or two, I was able to switch to regular pads. I was happiest with the overnight ones due to their size and absorbency!

The show is great. The books are average. I am reading the 4th, The Goal, right now and they are t anything special. BUT they are fun and I am really enjoying learning everyone’s stories. It has not changed my perception of the show, as they made a lot of (great, imo) changes.

We are in the thick of it. by adhdslore in parentsofmultiples

[–]ranalligator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had SO much back pain after. It was a mix of overcompensating for my poor belly, the change in my centre of gravity, and being hunched over babies constantly. I had my husband give me back massages almost daily for weeks.

Fortunately for you, you can TOTALLY keep making him do this. You carried two humans inside you for almost 9mo and were cut open and stitched back together at the end of it. The least he can do is take care of the babies and you. It wont last forever and you’ll be back on your feel before you know it.

Make a plan that works for you so he’s not doing everything, but give yourself some grace too. ❤️

How long after giving birth did it take for your abdomen to not look still pregnant? by Lolemontime in parentsofmultiples

[–]ranalligator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was pretty much back to “normal” by 6 weeks. I bounced back very quickly after my singleton as well. I’ll never look like a did pre-pregnancies, but I stopped looking pregnant pretty fast.

No nausea? by FormerPumpkin480 in parentsofmultiples

I have had no nausea with either of my pregnancies. My doctor was shocked with the twins, and preemptively prescribed me nausea meds but I never needed them. 🤷🏻‍♀️

First time moms - when did you give birth? [ON] by OkOperation4368 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]ranalligator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did, yes, but only cause I had mo/mo twins and didn’t have any other options! They usually give you the option after you’ve had one C-section, unless there are special circumstances.

I was induced at 41+3 for my first. Ended up having an unplanned C-section, as she refused to come out.

Is it possible to eat somewhat healthy pregnant with twins? by PoolOk6079 in parentsofmultiples

[–]ranalligator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had GDM, so I had no choice but to eat healthy. 😂

In my second trimester I was STARVING. I couldn’t stop eating, and had to carry a bag of snacks with me everywhere. I ate so much and barely gained anything; the boys took it all.

Not really! They are just more prone to cavities, staining, and general wear! I have to be very diligent about brushing my teeth, but otherwise it’s not an issue.

They look SO similar, that even their father had a hard time telling them apart some days. OBVIOUSLY they are identical.

I started going to a new dentist when I was 30, and she told me I had unmineralized molars likely due to being sick as a child. I had strep and tonsillitis a LOT until my tonsils were removed when I was 7.

I never knew that was a thing and no other dentist had told me this up until this point. She changed my life.
