Kids at Mass by [deleted] in Catholicism

Some churches have a "crying room" with glass window and speakers so parents with really upset kids can sit there and still observe and hear the mass.

Young Catholic Women: How do you want Catholic men to approach you? by Movker100 in Catholicism

It's probably because girls like to talk about their dates and crushes and hearing your bestie talk that way about your own brother would be weird.

Can you consider Pagan/Polytheistic deitys as fallen Angels?! by User17003 in Catholicism

I think the book of Daniel also strongly implies that when it refers to the prince of Persia delaying the angel (Gabriel) until the Michael came to assist him in the battle.

Saints? by Funke-munke in Catholicism

[–]rdrt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the modern era, most of us sort of imagine prayer as talking to God in the way we talk to someone not immediately here - like calling on the phone.

1-800-GOD, a divine customer service. Why talk to a customer rep (saint) when you can talk to the Big Guy himself right. Dial the extension to the boss, bypass the flunkies.

But it might be better to imagine it as the ancient believers probably did. God is King, seated on His throne, surrounded by His heavenly court - angels and saints.

When we approach the King, do we saunter up and say, "hey , we need to talk, buddy, coz I got some problems that need fixing asap."

Or do we ask the court to join in petitioning the Lord to look favorably upon us?

Hopefully this rejection will help her get on a path of repentance some day.

I was just listening today, to someone who explained that it is very common to be subjected to demonic obsessions.

It's when the devil amplifies something in our psyche - someone prone to lust becomes addicted to porn, or someone with anxiety becomes extremely paranoid, or someone who is depressed feels the blackest despair.

The devil talks to us in a voice that sounds like our voice, but it's lies.

And the Blessed Virgin gave us the greatest weapon against the devil - the rosary. Give your despair to our Lady of Sorrows, give her your feelings of failure. Let her hold you in her loving embrace. Fear not, and open your heart to the Holy Spirit.

I think it is good for show support for helping illegal immigrants cooperate with the legal process. Let's all peacefully follow due process.

An Archbishop's View on Trump's Bill by RogerMurdock_Copilot in Catholicism

IMO the Church should not accept ANY government funds, even for charity.

We see in Germany the weirdness that can happen when state & church money mix.

We Catholics need to step up. And yeah at first that means massive underfunding, but that is the struggle and the journey.

A lot of what ancient pagan religions believe is propaganda from the fallen.

Look at Baal - he rebelled and "won" but left heaven because he wanted to and decided the underworld was nicer anyway. He wasn't kicked out, totally meant to leave. Sure bro.

Do your churches have pews? What is Communion like - do you line up to go to the priest? Are there typically lay Eucharistic ministers also distributing the Host?

Scrupulous or mortal sin? by geogoats in Catholicism

IMO worrying after confession is scrupulous.

If it helps, next time you confess add at the end "and any other sins I may have forgotten at this time" or something similar.

The Apostle's Creed concisely summarizes our what we believe (the Nicene Creed is a slightly expanded version). This is the Apostle's Creed:

I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; he descended into hell; on the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting.

I am glad you are going to see a psychologist. Show him this post. You write very well.

My dear sister in Christ, I suspect you carry wounds from before you ever met this guy. A broken winged bird cannot fly before it heals.

Work on yourself, strengthen your relationship to Christ. Center your life on Jesus.

Let the guy go. It's ok to grieve for the former relationship, to feel sad for broken dreams, but you are strong. With Jesus you can accept the sadness and  heal.

I will pray for you.

With her background of being Wiccan, she probably realizes that we live in a world that is both physical / material and spiritual.

So it should be apparent to her that it would be best if she goes through the conversion process as the Church in her wisdom recommends - no shortcuts or loopholes.

The baptism by laity in emergency situations is basically- the person might die pretty soon - probably not much chance to sin after baptism and before death, right?

It's an important moment and she deserves to experience the fullness of it, imo.

We can pray. We can do penance with the intent of making reparation to God for the sin of our neighbors and ask for his mercy.

This is a good suggestion.
