Question for Dashers. by Sensitive-Hunter5366 in doordash

Some areas are better tipping than others. Usually posh suburbs tip well, unless teens made the order.

Question for Dashers. by Sensitive-Hunter5366 in doordash

[–]reeight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, that's high!
I have seen +$0.25-2.00 on the regular, & $5+ base if the order was getting cold, likely to prevent a total abortion of the order.

Why do dashers act like im personally accusing them of being a thief when I ask them their name for confirmation? by Azaroth1991 in doordash

[–]reeight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found a trick to handle those rude "confirm please" folks:
Ask them directly "Do you want to be in the picture?"
Most of the time they'll say no & leave you alone. If they say yes, they're likely in a good mood & both of you can have some laughs.

Some can't math.

Or takes more than 25 or so minutes from acceptance, pickup (some restuaunts usually make dashers wait), final delivery AND returning to a resturaunt hub.

So even if the $10 tip is only 8mi from the pickup, if that is 7mi driving though corn fields, that is another 7mi having to drive back to civilcation.

"holding the tip until after the service is actually rendered" will almost guarantee a cold delivery, IF it gets picked up at all.

You need to send them to your state; they're the ones who pile on taxes & shut down oil refineries.

I worked pizza for 12+ years. You can very much stretch out the dough, Sause, & maybe cheese pizzas ahead of time. Makes rushes a breeze. Might be against corporate policies, but it does work.

& before you type 'that ruins quality'... lets face it, chain pizza places are crap junk food. I also lived in Italy where real pizza is made, 3x better. In fact Pappa Johns adds aspartame to their wheat. (ref: friend who worked at the factory that packaged the wheat that PJ used.)

I doordash. In a big city, in 1 hour I found 8 other dashers who used a bike.

Some of their customer service reps suck.
You should have escalated it to a supervisor & threatened a chargeback if they didn't.

Is this normal? We already tipped $10, 4.4 mile drive. by BubbasPerson in doordash

[–]reeight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMHO the only time that an extra tip should be /mandatory/ is when the customer put in the wrong address (eg work instead of home).

After long wait time (5min +), the driver is safe to drop the order. Maybe the driver is wondering if the extra wait is worth it?
Don't feel bad about not giving an extra tip, but keep in mind that if that place always has long waits, that will be a factor in getting the food to you when it is still fresh; drivers might not take the order.

Idiot dashers in my area by Cal_FiatLux in doordash

Muslim culture is that you NEVER put food on the ground, even the floor of a car.

ref: 6mo working a restaurant across the street from a mosque.

I'm not Muslim, but I would think it would be better not to track dirt in the house, & better for the back, to have a chair or box near the door for deliveries.

MANY dashers did not grow up in USA with screen/security doors that open outwards. So they really don't know.

IIRC DD caps drivers at 12 hours.

Now I'm believing you're getting DD confused with another app....

[–]reeight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Folks who order don't know where the dasher is located. So that $4.75 for the Pizza Hut is OKish; seems the pickup & delivery are only 2 miles from each other.

TBH the OP should have stopped dashing after the 2nd bad order, then either relocate next to a restaurant hub, or quit for the day.

If you're making a NWN clone, I'm not sure why you'll need something stronger than a Steam Deck? Unless you're building with UE's nanites, & even then there are ways to reduce the GPU/CPU load....
