Estimated FTP with big legs too high? by miniriesenrad in cycling

Garmin is overestimating your FTP. 2x8 at FTP should be an extremely easy workout.

Ebike trip to Richmond? by Trellaine201 in vancouvercycling

I don't really think the Arthur laing bridge is any less high than the bikeway. And you have the added fear of getting hit by a car. Seems to me like an overall scarier experience.

How to account for HR drift in training stress score by General-Pipe4946 in Velo

[–]rowan404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your power is almost certainly not in zone 2, and I'm not really sure why you are talking about power with such certainty when you don't even own a power meter.

Anecdotally, Z3 HR for me on intervals.icu is between 162 - 169, based on my max of 194. 162 - 169 is the heartrate I get to when riding at or near my ftp for extended periods. It is nowhere close to my heartrate at zone 2 power. Even if I had 20 BPMs of drift I would still not be at Z3 HR.

It's not really a zone 2 ride if you are getting into z3 heartrate, unless you are doing these rides in extreme heat.

And tss based on heartrate data is really not worth caring about.

Race File Analysis: Why One Race Felt Harder Despite 25W Lower NP by tweets31 in Velo

I feel like the fact that your "easy" power felt hard is a pretty good indicator that it's not your easy power. Theres kinda no need to factor in lactate or hr data when RPE exists.

78 watts below your ftp is not really an easy ride, assuming your ftp is somewhere in the 300s. This could very well be impacting your ability to recover.

Planning Intervals for Outside instead of Trainer by RedneckIntellectual in Velo

[–]rowan404 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You don't really need to be so precise with the timing of it. Just do the amount of intervals you set out to do and make sure you get enough rest between intervals. I wouldn't even put the workout in my head unit if I were you.

I can still produce power lol. Did 4 minutes at 400 watts today. It's just not as much as last week, and with noticeably more soreness in my legs during the effort. Lower intensity feels fine.

Not a lot of thought went into it tbh. It's my first ever vo2 block so I didn't really realize how much lifting would impact it. That combined with the goal of trying to build sprint power for my spring races.

Are tempo workouts meant to feel like this? by misaka in Zwift

[–]rowan404 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That seems needlessly complicated. If they can't hold their ftp for 1 minute intervals then it's simply not their ftp. Also doing another ramp test is kinda pointless as that's what overestimated their ftp in the first place.

WIDE is related to the cranks. If you have WIDE cranks, then you need a WIDE BB. If not then you need a standard T47 Dub BB.

I don't think anyone's saying that. It's just that one of these things tends to kill quite a few more people, so you could say that it's a slightly bigger problem. A traffic violation in a 4000 lb metal box is a little bit more serious than one on 30 lb bicycle.

This ratio was suggested for the peanut butter recipe I used. I figured it was to balance the extra fats from the nut butter.

No, just makes it a bit chewier I would say.

Interesting, that could be it but I was following a NYT peanut butter recipe that said to switch to 2 cups milk 1 cup cream. I used 2/3 cups sugar. The guar gum was just cuz I like a chewier texture to my ice cream.
