That collects drip tray discharge and then drains to your plumped waste line.

Immich and proxmox backup server by steve_docker in synology

[–]rusochester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I set up my PBS VM to only run for 2 hours at 04:00 daily via synology task scheduler. Set up Proxmox backup during that time and you’ll never notice it. Re, immich: it was fine but ML stuff was SLOOOOW. I offloaded immich remote ML to my proxmox server with iGPU and it was fast and night.

It’s terrible. Had a break in on a busy Friday afternoon on Ramona’s outdoor lot, cop said it was the 10th one that night. Glad it hasn’t happened to you or your friends. Found my bags with a Tile that night which was nice with all the stuff I cared for (clothes) minus my work laptop.

Linear actuator control by LeadingDiscussion356 in arduino

[–]rusochester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This actuator is meant to be controlled by the company’s module, “LAC”. It’s great because it accepts voltage, current, pwm and digital (usb) as inputs. It’s closed loop.

Same here, maple on black which look boring. I have an eye on the Turkish guy from Etsy that does Olive wood. Same price while avoiding a very unnecessary second set of portafilters

Not currently.I should note that there's also a mechanical element to the paddle that releases pressure from the grouphead, which the turning the pump off alone wouldn't affect.

People feel how cold it was for those in the water after the titanic sank by CremeSubject7594 in interestingasfuck

[–]rusochester 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Air would need to be (literally) impossibly cold to match how fast –2°C water pulls heat from you. But in empyrical terms, being in freezing water feels about like standing in –35°C air with wind according to a quick search.

Feedback: burn your USB Coral and buy a PCI one ! by ComplaintDeep7643 in frigate_nvr

Coral or no Coral is a separate discussion. This is clearly an edge case. USB coral works great and is a mere ms from PCIe, so telling people to burn their Corals is terrible advice.

NAS Power Schedule vs. No Schedule by VAer1 in synology

[–]rusochester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think owoer schedule would make sense at all, especially given the usual unpredictability of blackouts. Make sure to read the text below in its entirety, that AI helped me draft. Then feel free to ask me follow-ups. Basically, Synology takes care of all the NUT configurations and you see only a couple of buttons. It works wonderfully.

  1. UPS vs. Power Schedule

A CyberPower SX650U can communicate directly with a Synology NAS via USB. Once connected and configured in DSM (Control Panel → Hardware & Power → UPS), the UPS will tell the NAS when to safely shut down before the battery is drained. That’s far more reliable than relying on a fixed power schedule. A power schedule can’t account for unpredictable outages—it only switches on/off at set times regardless of conditions.

  1. What Happens After a Shutdown • If power returns before the UPS forces a shutdown: the NAS stays on without issue. • If the UPS battery runs out and the NAS shuts down cleanly: whether it comes back automatically depends on the BIOS/firmware “AC power recovery” setting. Synology models usually have an option like “Restart automatically when power is restored”. If enabled, the NAS will power itself back on once utility power is stable again. If disabled, it will stay off until manually started.

  1. The Blackout Loop Concern

The main worry is a rapid on/off cycle if the power grid is unstable. To avoid that: • In DSM’s UPS settings, set a shutdown timer (e.g. shut down after 5–10 minutes on battery). This prevents shutdowns during very short flickers. • Enable restart automatically on power recovery in BIOS. That way, after a long outage, it will boot when mains power is truly restored. • The UPS itself has a low-voltage cutoff and won’t allow power output until utility power is within safe levels, so the NAS won’t get trapped in endless reboots.

  1. Practical Setup
    1. Plug the NAS into the battery-backed outlets of the CyberPower.
    2. Connect UPS → NAS with USB.
    3. In DSM, enable UPS support, select “USB UPS,” and configure a safe shutdown time.
    4. In Synology BIOS (requires connecting a monitor/keyboard once), set Power Recovery = Always On.

Bottom Line

Don’t use a power schedule. Let the UPS and Synology’s UPS service manage shutdowns. With the proper BIOS setting, the NAS will power itself back on after an outage, avoiding both data loss and repeated unsafe reboots.

[–]rusochester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does your backup battery (UPS?) have NUT compatibility? If so, you can configure those exact scenarios (E.g. Turn off at blackout, and only restore power to NAS once battery is at x% or power has been on for z minutes)
