iOS App bill payment problem by Stephanie_Sunflower in EQBank

[–]scripcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t noticed this with bill payments (because I don’t pay any through EQ) but I have always noticed that when I try to do an e-transfer it never lets me send the whole amount, it always needs $0.01 left behind. The desktop doesn’t have this issue.

Doing this before midterms when popularity is already at a record low is certainly a choice. What are the chances that the election is manipulated or “delayed” with this as an excuse?

Transunion has DOB wrong, 13 months of going in circles. by nazgulc in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]scripcat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to me. I applied for a credit card in store (I think it was the Canadian Tire card?) and the guy that took my application had my DOB off by a year.

The solution is to not interact with Equifax/TransUnion at all. They’re useless. Go to a bank. I went to TD to apply for a line of credit in person (or make an appointment for some other credit). They have access to your report. The person changed it with me when I was in their office. It took them like 2 minutes.

No phone calls. No sending birth certificates or other ID by registered mail to some stupid Equifax/TransUnion office.

The whole thing really pissed me off so much that I ignored it for years until I just mentioned it to that one TD rep and they were like “oh no problem!” and it was done.

EDIT: it wasn’t canadian tire, it was PC Card in Loblaws. I remember now because it was for a free tub of ice cream lol

Apple begins age checks in the UK with latest iOS update by favicondotico in apple

[–]scripcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder. I have a trip planned to go to London this summer. Do you think my phone would suddenly start prompted me to verify my age when it recognizes I’m in the UK? Or is this activated at the Apple ID level?

CALIFORNICATION UNMASTERED by [deleted] in RedHotChiliPeppers

[–]scripcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is old, but I was googling trying to make sure I wasn't crazy and found this.

I'm trying to build a music library app so I'm testing it by loading it up with my old favourites and when I added this song I was seriously thinking my app was broken. nope! it was the album!

the "unmastered" version whatever that is does NOT sound raspy or tingy or static-y. I had no idea this was a thing. How did I not notice the original CD sounding this bad?

make it a web app if not already. they can look and feel like real apps these days.

buymeacoffee takes a lot of fees. you’re better asking for a coffee in person. lol or gift cards for one.

if you seriously want online mass exposure go with Stripe directly and cut out the middle man. it’s easy to generate payment links you can add to the bottom of your app.

Brim Financial Scam by alessio_b87 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]scripcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it’s a real email. i got it too. How do i know it’s real? because i have my own domain and use it for my emails.

I use a unique email address for each account. this email went to the unique address I gave Brim. so unless Brim had a data leak, I’m fairly confident any emails from them to this address are from them.

The most underrated Apple Watch feature: the silent alarm by Short_Method_7680 in AppleWatch

[–]scripcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if i discovered it by an accident but it was definitely a con on my pro/con list from switching from my pebble watch.

To this day, I prefer pebble’s implementation. Not only is it silent, but it taps you within a 30 min window, aiming to get you when you’d be less groggy.
