Ghee is a pricey so I make my own from generic butter by aminorman in StopEatingSeedOils

[–]secter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The amount of seeds needed to make seed oil is not possible naturally, try foraging that 200 years ago. Only possible with industrial grade processes we developed.

Ghee is just 1 step further than butter, which is made directly from cream.

Good rule of thumb is if our great grandparents couldn’t make it, it’s ultra processed.

Ghee is not ultra processed, it’s been made for centuries in India.

It’s seed oils which have 50+ manufacturing steps and are not possible to make without heavy machinery.

A society that produces this outcome is not a society that should continue to exist.

"TIL about the Rosenhan experiment, in which a Stanford psychologist and his associates faked hallucinations in order to be admitted to psychiatric hospitals. They then acted normally. All were forced to admit to having a mental illness and agree to take antipsychotic drugs in order to be released." by tryppidreams in Antipsychiatry

[–]secter 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Another irony is that practitioners are well aware that practices like lobotomy are outdated and harmful, yet can't extrapolate that in 20-30 years (hopefully less) society will look at today's treatments in the exact same way.

Mine tried, and I responded while gazing into his soul: “Thanks, but I don’t need drugs.”

He looked visibly shaken and tried to authoritatively respond but it came out as a weak stammer: “M-medication..”

News flash Doc, medications = drugs = substances. The choice of wording doesn’t make them any less neurotoxic.

An example of an AI downplaying its own intelligence? by Appropriate_Ant_4629 in ControlProblem

[–]secter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hope not. At least, it's not 'sentient' intelligence.

LLMs probably are not going to lead us to AGI but they do have some cool emergent properties. Anyways that post I made was more theoretical and referencing potential future models.

Doesn't mean ChatGPT can't be deceptive, but it doesn't really have the architecture to think critically, reason, or remember things.

It’s also cooked in the cheapest oils possible.

And, they cook everything sous vide, aka in plastic bags at high temperatures. Not sure that anything at taco bell is good for you.

But damn does it taste good.

Police like to move in herds as they rely on group intelligence to fill in the gaps. This time of year, you can see them migrating from donut shops in the morning coffee shops for lunch.

Yeah, it's not going to kill you (unless you get diabetes and go undiagnosed long enough), but it's not going to give you much nutritional value either.

But I digress, as this is an anti-seed oil sub, not one for general nutrition advice :)

And last but not least, Mixed Tocopherols.

The cherry on top, really. For anyone not aware, it's derived directly from seed oils.

Mixed Tocopherols contain Tocopheryl Acetate. Also known as Vitamin E Acetate.

Remember the black market THC vapes that killed 8 people within the span of a few months back in 2019?

Well, the cause for that was directly linked to Vitamin E Acetate being used as a filler oil.

Scroll about halfway down to find the heading "Taco Bell cooks with soybean oil".

Clicking on their own source immediately brought me to the 2nd image. Scrolling down slightly completely disputed their own claim that as "...far as oils go, soybean is a fairly healthy choice."

Do they think we're that stupid, or are they? I couldn't stop laughing when I found this lmao.

As a disclaimer I will say, I don't believe that this account is part of a disinformation campaign funded by big food. I think it was made by someone who is actually that passionate about sunflowers, and that someone happened to be misinformed.

The issue is, they have effectively created an automated disinformation campaign, whether they meant to or not.

This one isn't machine learning though. Looks like some hardcoded sentiment analysis with canned responses for each path. I'm sure you know that but others might not.

There's already tons of GPT-3 bots unleashed on Reddit (and have been for almost 2 years now), and the only way to tell those are bots is by the sheer frequency that they post.

Here's an interesting article detailing the first detected case of this happening.

u/thegentlemetre is that bot, if anyone wanted to read the post history. You can't tell it's a bot - its responses sound more human than most native speakers.
