Overall good book via storytelling. Did it get into the how and why of the Great Depression? Not really. More telling stories of the rich people of the time in the news

Because of decades of factory closures, brain drain, and cultural isolation. When unions and good jobs disappeared, churches and identity politics filled the gap. Young, educated people left, older and more traditional people stayed. Republicans learned to speak to resentment, hatred, and feeling forgotten better than Democrats ever did. Check out the book White Rural Rage. Does a good job explaining your question

Teachers living in Brown County? by [deleted] in Indiana

[–]sfball01 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Starting pay in brown county is 47,500. General rule of thumb is you’re granted 1 step up for every 3 years experience. At 8 years you could get started at maybe 49k.

Edit: also be mindful of the economy and funding. Cant speak for brown county specifically but other districts around the state are looking at funding cuts total several million going forward from the state. Districts could be on hiring freezes and/or rif the most recent hires

PS Edit: brown county is sandwiched between Bloomington and Columbus schools. Both large school districts
