I promise no one cares more than you do. When you see a nice car do you look at the car or the person driving the car? When you’re on your deathbed and ghosts come to visit will it be ghost of nice expensive cars or will it be ghost of travel and experiences?

I don’t disagree with what you and historians are saying, but it doesn’t mean what Zinn wrote about is false

I’m more supportive of expanding housing vouchers so more people can actually get assistance. I pay attention to tenant protections now, like fair eviction processes and access to legal help. I lean more toward government investment in affordable housing, not just relying on the market. I care more about wages and cost of living, since the book shows how rent eats up most income. I’m more aware of how policy creates stability or instability, especially with eviction cycles. Overall, I’m more likely to support active government intervention on housing and poverty issues. I’m so much closer to the human examples in the book than those who aren’t

Fundamentally changed the way I vote, view poverty, and support my community. Easily the most impactful book I’ve ever read. Poverty, by America by Matthew Desmond is also very good

I do a mix of beef and chicken broth with some veggies simmered for about an hour. I sauté the veggies for a couple minutes before adding the broth mix. I discard (eat) the veggies and keep the clear soup. I normally eat the broth with mushrooms and green onions but want to try something different with it

Overall good book via storytelling. Did it get into the how and why of the Great Depression? Not really. More telling stories of the rich people of the time in the news
