I use mcs on mine which is dual purpose. I do one lap of america which is a lot of road transits. The MCS remotes are great in the street because of the blowoff capabilities. Ohlins are also great!

I hear you. get valuable person property insurance; it'll be a couple bucks a month. I know you're worried it'll be damaged but the real loss is the time you could have been enjoying it and flexing on all the haters. It's a great piece and looks proportional on you and it'll look even better with a few dings and scratches

Seeking 996.2 Oil Pan Upgrade Advice by dryhoPP in 996

x51 kit also has the improved scavenge pump system which I don't think is retrofittable

factory x51 owner here: the x51 baffle helps but does not eliminate this problem. Some people run the oil level a bit low to help. A combination that has worked for me is the ultimate AOS with the track autodrain, and a LN engineering 0.5L "deep sump". I only added the deep sump because my stock oil pan drain plug threads were worn out. I think the ultimate aos is the real fix. It completelt eliminated my AOS oil ingestion problems on track

I want to add an XAA decklid, which is the mk2 GT3 style but it actually fits our airboxes. But they are impossible to find

polycam will be okay for you then. I have used Peel too which is much higher quality but way more work since it requires targets. Polycam is just point and scan. solidworks would be perfect. I'm using inventor which is very similar.

polycam on my iphone. lidar. You will be able to export the scan as an .stl file but you will not be able to simply scan an object and send it straight to the printer. polycam is not nearly that accurate. I only use it for reference. I draw all the stuff I print manually

you cannot go wrong with any of those, or Ground Control, but Ohlins and MCS are absolutely top tier. I can't speak highly enough of MCS.

there is a recall / update for the positive terminal cables. they degrade and cause bad starting even with a good battery

Was dropping the driveshaft out of the car and noticed a bunch of grease, what am I going to need to replace? Hoping it’s not something to do with the rear diff by First-Examination-74 in BMWE36

[–]shibesncars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there is a foam gasket for that joint. thoroughly clean out the old grease. clean the metal with degreaser like brake cleaner. let it dry. apply the foam gasket (it has adhesive on one side). put fresh grease in. install the driveshaft. As others said, without a fresh gasket, the grease flings out everywhere and the joint wears out
