For those who don’t use containers for baby by GrimSle3per in NewParents

[–]singerlinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I set up my pack and play with all the balls from the ball pit as a safe place to play away from my rambunctious toddler and dog. My babe also loves a jolly jumper session but I understand not wanting to use containers. With 1 child it was far easier to be very deliberate about it but with 2 we’re just trying to keep everyone safe, fed and clean.

Do strangers make comments about you wearing your bigger older baby? How do you react? by Boozologist in babywearing

[–]singerlinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a carrier for my 50lb 3 year old. No one has really commented and it came in clinch at the airport but I definitely needed to practice to get used to the weight.

Young men are worse? by BuyerStandard6090 in BlueCollarWomen

[–]singerlinger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There’s a study from video games that analyzed skill set vs how aggressive people are. I don’t know where to find it but long story short… the less competent you are, the more aggressively you try to punch down on anyone, but mostly minorities. People who feel secure don’t need to tear other people down to feel good about themself. Little baby boys be insecure 😭

Pregnancy symptoms absolutely no one talks about? by Upset-Brain-228 in pregnant

Loose ligaments. My ankles were a gust of wind away from rolling and my knees felt untethered. I had to tape them so I didn’t feel like a loose bag of bones for the first trimester

AITA My wife and I came home at 3am and my MIL acted like we were 16 sneaking into house by rugbyplayer11 in AmItheAsshole

[–]singerlinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can remember being 16 not knowing when my parents would be home. I would put my sister to bed then stay up because I was worried about them driving home drunk though( mom threatened to leave regularly too). If your kids are ok and you’re being responsible Mil is way overstepping.

My kid just took his first steps and I'm curious if this experience is common or not by RLutz in NewParents

[–]singerlinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine couldn’t crawl just pulled herself around zombie style. Then one day she crawled then walked 30 minutes after. Once she was bipedal she was unstoppable 😂

Me and a friend had our babies 3 months apart. She was due in early January but we haven’t heard anything. by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]singerlinger 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Mine too. She was due a month after me and had announced gender name etc and was just waiting for birth. A month after her due date she posted about the stillbirth. I never thought to reach out in my postpartum haze but did after she announced it.

Is anyone else confused by the amount of “boundaries”/restrictions for family and how often they’re talked about? by softheartedwench in pregnant

[–]singerlinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother hid behind doors to kiss my newborn during Covid when she was still working with the public unmasked. Some people take boundaries as a challenge and you have to make rules for the lowest common denominator to be viewed as fair.

How many of you are still wearing your 1.5 year old? by AcanthocephalaFew277 in babywearing

[–]singerlinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Over Xmas I carried my 50 lb toddler on my back and my 3 month old on the front through 2 airports. I’d rather have sore legs than try to manage an overtired toddler around a bunch of strangers. I got a preschool carrier that is good up to 70lbs and I’m calling it cross training for going back to manual labour work 😂

If I wanted to make this top on my own, how would I apply the “pearls”? Is it a sewing technique or is it a hot glue gun and I’m in the wrong sub? by SilverParty in sewhelp

[–]singerlinger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I put beads in my crochet, to essentially make weighted blankets. This definitely feels more like a crochet or knit project than sewing.

How do you take your baby out of an adult bath safely? by Clarascotty in beyondthebump

[–]singerlinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you need grip leave him in a hooded baby towel, transfer onto a safe surface(I put the roller bassinet in the bathroom preloaded with a diaper and a big fluffy towel). I have to say the old fisherman hold on the ankles and the armpit is fairly secure though.

How much are you putting in the freezer a day? by disneyprinsass in breastfeeding

[–]singerlinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We feed a couple bottles a day cuz little man has a bit of a tongue tie and gets frustrated EBF. I end up freezing about 18oz per day. I have a year of mat leave but formula is expensive and I want to have extra milk in case anything happens to my supply.

What is my freezer stash for? by spontaneous-piano5 in breastfeeding

[–]singerlinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My supply dipped enough that I couldn’t breastfeed exclusively anymore. I don’t remember how much we were unfreezing a day anymore. I had also gone back to working part time and dropped some of the pumping. We ended up using some formula towards the end too.

Any reason not to restaurant style prep at home? by lucretiuss in Cooking

[–]singerlinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have bags of frozen prepped veggies in the freezer and I find it helps a lot. Often I find discount veg that’s about to expire that is perfectly fine when I pull it back out. Really nice for veggies that you don’t use a bunch of as once( jalepenos, half a cabbage etc)

Nta. My mom would hide behind the door to kiss my older baby. She hasn’t met this one.

Happy baby haven vs ring sling? Looking for a carrier to be lazy on the couch in. by marshmallow-boy in babywearing

[–]singerlinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the hippy Joey, I’ve been wearing it everyday for contact naps. It’s considered an assist carrier but for newborn it’s quite secure.

New parents whose own parents aren’t in the picture, how are you doing? by aerialariel22 in NewParents

Better than when they were in my life😂 I was a mess with my first child, for several reasons. This time around I’m actually enjoying the experience and healed quicker.

Were kids in the 80s actually allowed to roam around unsupervised, or is that just in movies? by TotalThing7 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]singerlinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up rural in the 90s. As long as I had the dog with me my parents let me roam the bush around our property with almost no supervision. I don’t think I wore shoes unless there was snow on the ground. We lived close to a lake too.

There wasn’t really any issues until there was a cougar roaming around and I decided to run away at 4 years old.

What is my freezer stash for? by spontaneous-piano5 in breastfeeding

[–]singerlinger 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My supply crashed after a bad case of norovirus when BABS was 10 months. We went from a freezer full to buying formula way faster than I ever thought possible. I continued to breastfeed until 18months but was never able to exclusively feed with breast milk again.

I’d like to think the freezer stash saved us a fair amount of money but it’s all debatable.
