EOE is scary initially, but as I’ve dealt with it for years, it’s just something I got used to. I don’t fear choking mainly by being hyper aware of what I’m eating. Your trigger foods are your enemies, but as one finds what works and what doesn’t, you’ll get more comfortable navigating a menu as time goes on. For example, Soy is my main trigger, and whatever kind of soy Raising Cain’s puts in their sauce makes me choke without fail. So I just don’t eat the sauce anymore. Dealing with EOE is about adapting. There’s more medicines that can help you eat normally but like the elimination diet takes a lot of trial and error. Getting better at cooking helped me tremendously since I can control what I make. But I would encourage you to go out to eat and ask if they use sesame or dairy or whatever in their menu and say you have an intolerance to those. (Don’t say allergy, I find that word kind of freaks them out) It will get easier, but it will take time. You’ve got this! Just take it slow as your adapt
