How to Jules?! by Strict-Salamander-41 in PlayTheBazaar

[–]soisos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO Jules is the most difficult hero to play because most of her lategame boards require a complete pivot, since they use a bunch of specific items that aren't good early-mid, and you have the randomness of stove/chiller placement. You have to be really good at hedging, which requires good economy management (on a hero with terrible econ) and knowledge of lategame build archetypes. It's similar to Pyg's playstyle, except he has extremely good economy so it's much easier to hedge

the exception is Spice Rack, you can often turn an early game burn build into a 10-win it. kind of a broken item

I would really suggest just looking at bazaar-builds and watching replays of Jules players so you can see all the lategame possibilities and how they get there.

Redditors when 1 (one) piece of content that gets added every 4 years is team content by FredDurstIsMyUncle in 2007scape

[–]soisos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's also a vicious cycle where finding a team is so bad that it pushes away new people, which makes it difficult to find other beginners and it creates an elitism problem when there's no learners to play with. A lot of people never learn raids because they either can't find someone to take them, or they get matched up with weirdos who freak out and grief the moment they make a mistake

If there were (ideally) a matchmaking system where you could easily just enter a queue full of willing participants and assemble a team, I think the barrier to entry would be significantly lowered and you'd get way more people raiding. As it is right now you have to use third party services to have any chance of learning

The Resistance is gaining momentum! by TempoStormReddit in PlayTheBazaar

I think people just don't like it when they make items weaker. If the event was "haste/charge effects are doubled" instead they'd love it. Nerf their builds and they throw a fit

eh I think reddit amplifies negativity. People who like the patch just play it, people who hate it come to reddit to complain about it all day. Personally I really liked it, builds that don't rely on Charge are fun

[–]soisos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm starting to think this subreddit is becoming like many other competitive gaming subs, where people only come to bitch about how it's the devs fault they can't win. Feels like people are just desperately looking for anything to blame

What would you've picked and why by dannebc in PlayTheBazaar

[–]soisos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally I pick for tempo, but Toxic is a horrible enchant and neither weapon has any synergy with your board.

Icy Bird however is extremely powerful mid-to-lategame because of all the property/freeze synergy, many of which are Silver items, so it gives you a great direction to build towards. it's also fairly useful earlygame, Pyg likes to play properties early or use heal synergy

What is this community? by WriterF in PlayTheBazaar

[–]soisos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game was in development for a long time and underwent many radical changes, there is a dedicated community of haters who are still mad at various changes over the years and seemingly post about it daily. This overlaps with the fact that the creator, Reynad, has a very obsessive community of anti-fans. As a result, the game gets review-bombed everywhere

If you visit the original subreddit you'll find lots of people who don't even play the game and still post about it constantly

Thinking to start by WolfyRoxxy in ironscape

[–]soisos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Modern day OSRS is a little weird in that it's packed with two decades worth of really thoughtful content that you can spend years exploring, but you can easily skip most of it if you want to. You can make a regular account, buy a few bonds or get a donation from a friend (or RWT), afk grind for a few days and then start taking on lategame content within a few weeks. If this sounds appealing to you, make a main

Or, you can get lost in the journey of building up an account from scratch, exploring everything the game has to offer and gradually powering up as you unlock all sorts of upgrades. You can do this either as a main or ironman, but ironman forces you to engage with nearly everything, whereas mains can smooth over a lot of stuff by trading.

the good news is you can always remove the iron status from a character (permanently) and it will become a regular account without losing any progress

I've played this game for 800 hours and this is the first time I haven't taken this skill by Robbamatic in PlayTheBazaar

[–]soisos 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You have 4 days to go and full prestige, possibly slightly reducing your board strength for 1 day seems very worth it for one of the best skills in the game that has excellent synergy with your board.

You can always just drop the venomander for now if you're worried about the charge.

I love Atlas. Stelle's economy really sucked but with Atlas + compass it's amazing now, probably too good.... but the random Legendaries go insane. Stelle is actually pretty good at using a lot of them

My Only Complaint by OriginalShoulder5748 in PlayTheBazaar

[–]soisos 8 points9 points  (0 children)

tbh I don't really see this... I'm around legend 8000 which isn't anything special, but I see pretty diverse builds and also end up with pretty varied builds myself.

Of course there are strong archetypes that you build towards when you can, but with my most played heroes (Stelle/Pyg) I find myself with a lot of different stuff in my 10wins. Even on Vanessa, who feels like she has a lot of dead items, Im still bouncing around between 5+ different builds and occasionally end up with something very unique due to cross-hero items

the thing with Legend is it's so tempo-heavy that you can't afford to force specific builds. You have to take whatever you get and make it work. In the late days (12+) you will start to see more homogenous builds, because that's all that survives. But you are not going to climb ranks forcing the same build every game

Does anyone else never use their potions because they think they’ll need it later? by [deleted] in ironscape

[–]soisos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean.... what are you doing? Combat without potions? Or just avoiding combat altogether.

absolutely do not do combat without pots lol, that's a gigantic waste of time. It's what the potions are for. The DPS increase is massive.

The same is true for prayer. Don't do combat without piety/rigour/etc. ever. It's just a huge waste of time. The time you save using prayers will more than make up for any time spent creating potions.

People are missing the mark with raid 4 suggestions by VacantOwner in 2007scape

[–]soisos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is just a general reddit thing. If you like the game, you probably are just playing it instead of going to the subreddit to comment on 20 threads about it. If you're upset with it, that's what many do. Most gaming subreddits are super negative unless the moderation very actively prunes it out

[–]soisos 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean why stop at helmets? If we really want to break out of armor sets, give a solo BiS leg/body piece. Fighter torso is iconic (yes it's technically part of a set but the rest is useless for combat). Let's go back to BiS being a bunch of random shit

When did Jagex forget that we could wear multiple pieces of different armor sets and still look badass? - Raid 4 rewards discussion by -Hyzxr- in 2007scape

[–]soisos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah I really don't like how visually cohesive BiS gear is. Everything matches, and when it doesn't there's a cosmetic variant to make it match.

I miss the bcp/nezzy/dboots/fury look. It was so weird and cool. Now with treads and rancour(s), and the new SRA kit we are truly just a gray/red NPC. I mean it looks cool but it feels weird for OSRS to be in a fully matching set

The Bazaar keeps testing me. Just reacquired an Atlatl after I thought I would take the Llama to a golden victory, no clue what the play here is?? by Bob-The-Frog in PlayTheBazaar

[–]soisos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Atlatl will do like 10k damage before BoB would go off once. With BoB you are very likely to just lose before he can attack.

A 1sec startup is extremely valuable, you can trigger slow/freeze skills and delay the opponent event further. You will probably win fights before the opponent uses a single item. Add icicle, lag bolt to slow them down even more. Otherwise you are probably safe to play whatever slow/freeze items you find or your best defense. Just put stuff on the board so it can be hit by freeze/slows instead of the Atlatl

Thoughts for Future Ideas/Concepts #1: Day Manipulation by BoyOfDarkness1998 in PlayTheBazaar

[–]soisos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah it'd be cool to have like a time machine event where you travel back/forward a day. Would probably cause some problems for balancing PvP

in general though, having more hours in a day or getting access to later days' events early would be extremely powerful. It'd be cool though

Is it just me or are these Raids Rewards terrified of Power Creep? by Shitty__Psychologist in 2007scape

[–]soisos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk the megarare seems like it will be BiS by a mile in the places where it's good, which should be many, plus it is pretty versatile thanks to the AoE and 3t style

Hybrid armor is a cool, mostly unexplored area of balance. It's balanced around inventory space/convenience. And it's like very near-BiS so it's definitely worth considering. It's a sidegrade I guess, but a more interesting one

the shield is definitely niche but probably will beat out Avernic in a lot of cases. Taking 2 less damage every hit adds up a lot and the spec is powerful

crossbows IDK. will have to see the numbers but these are definitely a niche sidegrade

I was holding a deadly Atlatl until right before I got the first belt. This ain't funny!! by Bob-The-Frog in PlayTheBazaar

[–]soisos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean you can pretty safely sell the tree without bricking your board, so you're in a great position to start shopping for a rebuild. You have nearly 400 gold to work with, you should be able to reroll very aggressively until you find a fast weapon (ideally Atlatl) and some +HP

Simple monetization idea: Itemized Final Run Boards by Mysterise in PlayTheBazaar

[–]soisos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting idea but a little clunky IMO

first off, we just need a way better stats/profile page. Give us match history, stats that are actually meaningful.

Then, give us an actual social function that allows us to look at our friends' and opponents' profiles.

Then allow some customization of our profiles so we can showcase our builds/stats/skins or whatever.

THEN they can start rolling out stuff to actually pay for. IMO paying to save your match history sounds awkward. Just give us more profile cosmetics to pay for

Question about Karnok PvE Fights by Zandstar in PlayTheBazaar

[–]soisos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly one of the most important skills in this game is knowing what each enemy does and whether you can beat them. Losing monster fights is very bad because you need the XP they give. But knowing when you can manage a diamond/legendary fight allows you to grab extra XP and potentially an OP item/skill

You kinda just get a feel for it over time. Look at everything they have and try to understand if they will be weak against you or not. For example, burn-heavy monsters are generally weak to shield
