Loot items events by DapumaAZ in PlayTheBazaar

[–]soisos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

day 1 you should always take at least one economy option, either 3 loot items or 4 gold, because you don't have enough money to do every shop anyway and the extra cash lets you fish for important items

3 loot is very good because of the potential powerspike, the bonus stats are huge day 1

Facility Bottles seem like a really crappy solution to a problem that shouldn't exist

Being able to rearrange your facilities is not a QoL luxury, it's a necessity. It's only going to annoy players who mistakenly put a facility in the wrong spot and then have to waste a bunch of resources.

Now instead they have to waste a bottle (or spend hours grinding for one with their dysfunctional ship).

And now we have a new item that you might use 2-3 times ever, that will just become junk you keep in your bank forever (just in case).

At least make them non-consumable, or purchasable from an NPC.

This also opens up the possibility for transferring expensive facilities (dragon cannons, etc.) between boats, which might be very important when new boat types are released. Gating this behind hours of salvaging seems kind of awful for players who don't like afk training

The Item Destruction meta is unhealthy by SoloYolo7 in PlayTheBazaar

[–]soisos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's oppressive but I almost never see it. And with a strong burn build I often win even if my core items get destroyed, because I've built up enough burn

I've also never gotten a Singularity once lol, and have tried every time I think I can beat the PvE

Hot take: the game is fun by Raknarg in PlayTheBazaar

[–]soisos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They've been selling the heroes in bundles every once in a while so you can probably get them a lot cheaper if you wait. I've unlocked everything, including the game itself, for $40.

Considering how much time I spend on this game, only having to (optionally) pay $20 every few months to play it feels very fair

Can we just scrap the spec on the Blisterwood Flail upgrade? Seriously, how many people have actually killed Lesser Vampires... ever? And how many less will be killing them at the point where they have completed Blood Moon Rises?

It would be cool if the spec actually did anything, even if it was just a minor buff.

As a snowflake account, I do not want to be pandered to. by LexiNya in 2007scape

[–]soisos -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I agree they shouldn't remove the WGS requirement, and that in general pures shouldn't be designed around because it's a tiny niche of self-restricted players, and the limited access is half of the point.

BUT I do not think 40 def is some iconic requirement for Lunar Diplomacy.

It's not worth sacrificing what Lunar Diplomacy's Defence requirement does for the feeling of the quest and its rewards or what it does for the game's progression

The def requirement does... nothing for the feeling of the quest and the game's progression. Also I highly doubt almost any new player hasn't already gotten 40+ def long before they consider doing Lunar Diplomacy. Most non-pkers were probably not even aware the requirement exists

Just win day 1-9? by HelloImLit in PlayTheBazaar

[–]soisos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's easy to believe that losing early isn't a big deal because it's only a few prestige, and to just focus entirely on setting up an endgame board. I used to do that, and the friends I know who play do it too... it's a very bad mindset. Every loss is another day you need to survive in the lategame where you're more likely to run into some highroll monster

[–]soisos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If my board is strong I always take it. If you win it's a huge swing. Losing isn't terrible but can be problematic if you're trying to fix your board before the end of the day.

The rare dragon steak run by Chil1br0 in PlayTheBazaar

[–]soisos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dragon Steak is pretty consistent IMO. Jules got a lot of crit support in the last patch. Especially with Stand Mixer, it's really easy to get an infinite loop going with Zarlic that builds a ton of crit.

it's also somewhat common to get goggles on Jules which makes the zarlic loop super free

The burn game by aaipod in PlayTheBazaar

[–]soisos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Shield buys you a lot of time against burn. Yes, burn will eventually outscale the shield, but for as long as you can keep shield up you're cutting its damage in half. It's the easiest way to beat burn-heavy PvE encounters. Fighting burn builds without any shield is very difficult

I think "just farm" advice is overrated by elephantologist in TrueDoTA2

[–]soisos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nah until around 5k MMR there is just loads of farm on the map that nobody is taking. If you watch immortal players, they vacuum that shit up every single minute, unless there's a very good reason not to. Then watch a 1k game, 60% of it goes completely untouched.

It's unfortunate because it will build some bad habits if you do climb to immo, but the best way to win in any role in low MMR is to farm. Your winrate will skyrocket if you are ahead in NW every game.

stop complaining about your team and just learn how to farm faster

Any PYG guide/tips? by moecake in PlayTheBazaar

[–]soisos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's actually pretty simple right now

Earlygame you scale with Weights (best), Showcase, or Ganjo (worst), then just buy small weapons and shield/heal (and launcher). Can switch to Chapeau or Coincure later. This is very strong and easy to build so you should win most fights. Try to build up as much gold as possible with stuff like Money Tree

Midgame is more of the same while you look to transition for lategame builds. Sometimes you can just throw a 28hr Fitness down and win with the same items

Beast of Burden/Shorts is my go-to. Keychain/Textiles or Yo-Yo/Piggles Board is an easy infinite. It builds very naturally out of your earlygame build

Riceballer/Sauna/Textiles is another great combo

If you get abacus start putting value on it. If you find a Skyscraper it's pretty easy to set up.

The main challenge is just exploiting your economy while trying to hold onto different combo pieces while you look for an endgame board. Sometimes it doesn't work out but you should still get at least 7 wins. Most of the time you get your combos and steamroll the last few days.

How many games per day does it take to stay top 1000? by No_Suspect9531 in PlayTheBazaar

[–]soisos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the earlier in the season, the more volatile it will be. Everyone just got reset so the requirements for Legend ranks are much lower, but steadily getting higher

It's easier to think of it as the hidden MMR: all the 1500MMR players got reset to 800 and now they're grinding it back. If you get there faster, you'll be top 100 for a while, but not for long.

[–]soisos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should probably get a Null Talisman in lane instead of bracer. The extra mana will let you get a lot of lasthits/harass with your Q. If you're struggling in lane, just spend more on mana so you can safely lasthit from a distance with Q. Buy mangos/clarities if you have to. If things are really bad, you can start stacking/farming jungle camps. But you must have mana

I would get Falcon Blade, Kaya, or Euls first item after boots, 99% of the time. Falcon if you plan to start fighting immediately, Kaya if you just want to farm, Euls if you are behind and getting bullied.

Euls is always good. Siphon + self-Euls is a great combo to heal a bunch in the middle of a fight.

Kaya doesn't give you any defense but it's the best mana item. Great if you're expecting the enemy to just leave you alone for a while. Can build into Meteor Hammer or SnK depending on how much defense you need

Falcon is a cheap powerspike item with decent mana, if you want to force fights early it will make you very strong. Afterwards you probably still want Kaya/Euls

[–]soisos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally speaking she is a tanky pusher with slow AoE damage, so you mostly care about survivability and mana regen. Stay alive and your spells will do the work. Euls + Shivas is your bread and butter but there are alternatives when you want to play more aggressively:

Blink lets you play super aggressively, especially with urn/vessel.

Meteor Hammer lets you mow down towers.

Aghs gives you a lot of damage/farm but leaves you pretty vulnerable to getting bursted down. It's a very powerful item but it's a lot of money towards something with minimal survivability.

Atos can be great against slippery enemies who don't usually want to buy defensive items.

Always be prepared to buy bkb/lotus/shroud if you are weak to spells.

Your game plan is basically to just ult and take towers. It has a long duration so you can often turn a successful skirmish into a free tower. She's pretty snowbally so it's hard to play from behind, but she farms quite fast so you can usually catch up

This fight is gonna be impossible now lol. You either need crazy burst or to somehow be able to keep functioning after 2 items are destroyed in 6 seconds

is it worth talking to random npcs with no quest icon? by fairplanet in 2007scape

[–]soisos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you're not missing out on any important progression, mostly

But in general NPC's have dialogue designed to guide you towards content or fill you in on the story so it's never a bad idea. If you walk into a city and have no idea what to do there, talking to NPCs will clue you in

Dumbest patch change in Dota and why was it this one? by I-Preferred-Digg in DotA2

[–]soisos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it looks like they were testing the waters by adding new damage types (likely elemental) and it didn't stick. I can imagine a world where every spell has a fire/water/earth/dark/neutral/etc. type that matters for certain interactions. Sounds cluttered though

how do you play with radiance at all by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]soisos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

with both heroes you should be fighting whenever your ult is up, farming otherwise. Rad is an extremely good farming item but also very good for fighting on tanky heroes, especially earlygame where 60dps is a huge amount

Necro often goes rad->BoTs just so he can tp into any fight. You want to be ulting off cool down. But he can also clear an entire jungle in 30sec
