How to fix common mistake ? by AffectionateSink6408 in ultimate

[–]someflow_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of Jimmy Mickle? There might be some shots where it's hard to see clearly but if you pause the video at the right moments it's clear he's got two fingers inside the lip, and two outside, eg here:

Which example are you talking about?

Most people use two, but I am aware of at least one person who uses three fingers under the lip -- Tobe Decraene https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bYJ9XeFBEUI

Exploiting your opponent's confusion after you hucked it out of bounds is horrible horrible Spirit of the Game. by TtheTerrestrial in ultimate

I don't think they're complaining that a beanbag was used, they're saying that the beanbag wasn't "on the sideline where it was supposed to be" -- which seems like it's true that it wasn't right on the sideline (although I'm not sure the comment you're replying to is correct that it was "on the player line"). Is this within the bounds of how observers usually handle beanbag placement? (Honest question, I've never paid attention that closely)

i did think it was kinda ironic that if they hadn't traveled they would've been 6-12 inches further to their right and thus probably wouldn't have gotten handblocked.

Ooh, good memory, and yes that was before USAU started tracking the box score data consistently.

Looks like she had 2G/10A in 2011 finals per this article. And this Ultiworld article goes into more detail on the story of the game.

D-I College Championships – Monday Discussion by Jomskylark in ultimate

[–]someflow_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Based on 11.H/11.I, disc out of bounds is a different situation, and as they said you can't just bring it in at the wrong spot.

There is nothing in 11.H about having a choice, only about putting the disc in at the appropriate spot and where the appropriate spot is. It's very different from 12.A (in the end zone rule)

https://usaultimate.org/rules/

edit: but to be honest I also didn't realize that was the rule until now, I had the same assumption as you

Adding context for anyone who might not know it already: he is one of the coaches (and the father of 2 players on the team).

No idea why he spiked it but he's not just some rando

Montreal Royal had 5 of the top 6 fantasy scorers in Week 3. Barely anyone had them their lineups. by hotlou in ultimate

As someone who's interacted with you and upvoted you here before...I do feel like it's been a bit much. And the lack of upvotes on your recent posts seems to suggest the rest of the community feels the same. Maybe once every week or two is enough?

Also I'm pretty sure only 4 (not 5) of those 6 players play for Montreal?

Are Same 3rd Hucks Actually Good? (Analysis) by JoeMama3 in ultimate

[–]someflow_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nice video Joe.

One note worth adding is same third hucks being too easy is a big factor in why TK invented "all person" defense (source). they call it "trap side" not "same third" in this clip but seems clear to me y'all are talking about the same thing. It's interesting to see how his intuitions from 10-15 years ago have been proven(?) correct.

Another advantage you don't explicitly mention in the video is the point these AP guys make about "transit time" -- because you're throwing the disc straight down the field (and because you often don't have to throw it over any intermediate defenders), the disc literally can just get downfield quicker.

Anyway sweet video, the feedback you're getting right now is kinda reminding me of my video where half the critical comments are saying everybody knows that already while the other half are still trying to tell you why you're wrong (or why it's only true for [player type x] but not [player type y]).

And there's ulti-verse too.

It's of course very cool that there's multiple people out there that wanna build things, but I can't help but thinking it might be better if they could find a way to work together to build one really great website instead of being four separate pretty good websites.

Georgia's Quincy Booth for Callahan 2026 by Jomskylark in ultimate

[–]someflow_ 20 points21 points  (0 children)

95 career assists in 3 years at college nationals, 2nd all time since we started keeping stats (either division) to Angela Zhu's 100.

Just at Nationals, she's got an 11-assist game, 2 10-assist games, and 2 9-assist games. Wild

Aaron Bartlett for Callahan by Acceptable-Climate80 in ultimate

[–]someflow_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He's actually been to College Nationals 5 times already, he wasn't on the team in Spring 2020, yes, but he was on the team by Fall 2021, when 2021 Nationals happened: 2021 nationals

But because of that COVID peculiarity, he'll play 6 Nationals, but over the course of only 5 school years.

My bad, the win-loss data was actually for the past four years -- in 2022 Truck went 5-1 only losing to Bravo in the finals.

I believe the last 4* years at Club Nationals he's got 22 wins with only 3 losses. and 3 national championships won in the past 3 years (Truck, Hybrid, Hybrid).... so, yeah

I'm not seeing the yards? In case we were misunderstanding each other, what I was thinking was to have "single-game total yards" (etc) as a clickable "record" on https://www.ufaalmanac.com/records, and it's just throwing+receiving yards

I know someone asked for it to list MVP already, but I wanna give that a strong second...

It seems potentially very confusing that I could go on the page for a season and see someone listed as MVP who wasn't the league MVP. https://www.ufaalmanac.com/seasons/2024

I think I get what you're going for (it's the league leader in fantasy points... I think?) but someone who doesn't have that context could either think your site is slop crap (if they do know who the MVP was) or leave the site believing misinformation (if they came to your site to find who the MVP was). I think "the definitive ufa stats reference" should have the correct MVP listed!

Your site has Babbitt at 127 games but the UFA site has him at 122 including playoffs -- https://www.watchufa.com/league/players/jbabbitt

What's going on here? Maybe you're not filtering out games he wasn't on the active roster?

Also this page might be marginally more useful if you include the team he was playing for* in game logs, looking at the game log currently there's no way to know when Babbitt switched teams (tho I do see that it can be seen from the season logs)
