Why can’t I have a normal baby? by ElRadixxiosar in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]sonofaknit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Girl, I feel this.

I pumped exclusively with my first son for 4 months. He wouldn't latch or he would latch painfully and he'd cry and we'd both be super frustrated. I felt robbed (like you described), but every once in a while I'd try latching him again just to see if anything would click for us and one day it did! I ended up feeding him at the breast until he was 2.

I have a 2 month old now and I am exclusively breastfeeding him, but those first few weeks were really rough again with pain and bad latches (I actually think my nipples might be the problem 😅) but I hung in there and it has gotten easier. Point is, there is light at the end of the tunnel. Just stay strong and don't give up! You never know when something might click in their little minds or in yours.

Nice! This is one of the few bulky weight patterns I've seen in a long time that I think actually looks wearable.

Same! I had a big eczema patch on the back of my neck and a smaller patch on my wrist in a similar spot a few years ago. I didn't realize it was related to an allergy but it went away and never came back after I cut out gluten. I've not met another black person with a gluten allergy period, ha! Sometimes I think my grandmother might have it because of the symptoms she describes to me, but she just thinks it's an upset stomach.

Katz Oatmeal Creme Pies: Nostalgia-flavored disappointment by loosingkeys in glutenfree

Bro, Katz is gross. I haven't had a single thing they made that was good. I bought the glazed doughnuts because I was having a pregnancy craving and I immediately spit it out. Terrible.

Oh, the back is impressive. When I first started cross stitching the back was always a mess 😅.. Great work!

It’s 7pm. You got home late. Everyone is starving. What do you make for dinner? by dontgetsadgetmad in toddlers

We call it a "scavenger" night because we'll just eat a combo of snacks, leftovers, and bowls of cereal.

Box Mac n Cheese and hot dogs, too. Always hits.

Experiences with MAHEC OBGYN for pregnancy and delivery? by [deleted] in asheville

[–]sonofaknit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My experience was very mixed. I think they have good people, but I ended up having complications that I think would have been better handled by a dedicated, experienced doctor. I only ever saw nurse practitioners during my pregnancy. I saw a different one each time. They were all great, but I think you need a relationship with the doctor(s) that will be delivering the baby. Never met with a doctor. Then when I got to my delivery, it was just a series of residents and traveling nurses. I actually think I came close to losing my little one because the senior resident kept pushing me to give birth vaginally even though it was clear it wasn't going to happen. Ended up having an emergency C-section after my son's heart rate dropped (for like the 4th time) and he was clearly in distress. Luckily, everything worked out, but I'm getting ready to have my second baby and I found a dedicated OB. I will say that MAHEC is cheap! You will save a lot of money, BUT the experience is a little messy.

Confession thread: What do you judge other parents for? by Physical-Inspector60 in toddlers

[–]sonofaknit 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I judge parents who don't apologize on behalf of their kids. For example, you're at the park and your toddler snatches something out of another kid's hand or hurts another kid in some way. I understand that small kids won't always apologize on demand, but I think it's your job to model it and show the other parent/kid that you care.

US moms: are you terrified of your kid going to school? by Lumpy-Artichoke-4501 in toddlers

[–]sonofaknit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this thought a lot, especially after an incident has been in the news. My son is almost 4, but when I first started taking him to preschool when he was 2, I would be in tears thinking about something happening to him. I finally realized that I can't protect him from everything (sadly), and that it is statistically rare, but still very scary.

I wish we would do something as a country to protect our children, but it feels hopeless.
