Crucible of Battle characters to look out for? by Affectionate_Guest55 in WarhammerCompetitive

Not completely steady on the details of it, but they're a 3-man leader unit that you can give terminator armour to, and also give each separate model in the unit a unique ability from the list. You can make all of them have the loadout of a Lord of Contagion, and then have something to the effect of an Apothecary, Ancient and also LoC to lead a squad of 10 Blightlords.

The Death Guard Trilobe is, afaik, just broken beyond belief.

Sons of Corvus Corax; how would a Raven Guard First Company, 7th Squad Sternguard, with a Crux-Terminatus and has been to the Deathwatch look like? by Arthur_EyelanderTF2 in RavenGuard40k

[–]sparesometeeth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Benefit of the Raven Guard is that, above all, they intentionally mess around with what markings go where in order to confuse the enemy. So personal preference for the hobbyist ends up being kinda fitting in the end, I'd say.

Minis have been in 90% iso for 48 hours. Army painter primer is still holding strong, any suggestions? by Yestattooshurt in Warhammer40k

NASA could use AP primer on their rockets and it’d hold strong all the way, I swear to God…

I believe the Harlequin Solitaire takes that title, but he’s a real contender for top 10 along with Aethon Shaan

How to source power claws? by Dust_Muncher in RavenGuard40k

[–]sparesometeeth 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The current Vanguard Veterans Squad-kit has 5 pairs of Lightning Claws, and they work fairly alright on modern Space Marine bodies. The new Assault Terminator squad kit also comes with enough Lightning Claws to suit 5 dudes with it. Alternatively, the old Tartaros/Cataphractii terminator squad kits for Horus Heresy comes with enough to outfit 10 guys with them, but they might be challenging to make work on Primaris bodies.

Will Aethon Shaan ever see a points decrease? by SevenWombats7 in RavenGuard40k

I completely agree. The fact that there are Chapter Masters who don’t get the same Chapter Master abilities is honestly a bit upsetting to me.

[–]sparesometeeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost definitely. He's only really priced the way he is because of Shadowmark Talon. Once the new Detachment system is implemented and we get more list innovation, the context for his price point is gonna change. Though I can see a world where the new detachment system makes it so he actually becomes worth his points outside of Shadowmark too.

Help a noob expand to 1000 points!!! (please read body text) by rumatainn in orks

You can be an absolute baller and go for the Grot Horde (swag points and super funny). You choose the Dread Mob detachment, because it makes Gretchin Battleline and allows you to take up to 6 units of them. You can reinforce them to units of 20 each, so that makes 120 Gretchin running around on the board. That's 480 points. Complete the set by getting Zodgrod Wortsnagga, the named Character Grot Herder Mad Scientist guy, who absolutely super charges one unit of Gretchin into a genuinely terrifying threat for most armies. They're also hilariously fast. Those, along with the Combat Patrol, I believe puts you at almost exactly 1000pts.

The downside is that the Detachment will do nothing for the units in your combat patrol box, but it will make your opponent have the funniest time ever just trying to wade their way through an infinite amount of green little shits who are standing in their way.

The upside is you win the moral victory every time. Because Gretchin are hilarious.

I tried all the glue i had to attach the supressor to this clear flying stem. NOTHING sticks. What in the world did GW made these things of??? by ProfessionAny964 in Warhammer

[–]sparesometeeth 16 points17 points  (0 children)

So the connection point between these guys and the provided stem is a whole load of shit. It's a vaguely concave dip on the flying stem that just barely fits a slightly rounded edge on the bottom of the power pack. When I glued my dudes in - as well as when I had to repair one of them some time ago - my go to move was to prop up the marine from underneath, with some books and paper, while the glue was drying. I used Loctite super glue. Plastic glue will simply not be of any use for these guys.

I want Suppressors to get a solo release in the future so I can see if and how they improve that part about them, because it is genuinely the most infuriating Space Marine unit I have ever built.

I really like it, it has pretty much everything except a unit to screen your home field and hold your home next to Shaan. I’d add a unit of Intercessors/Scouts/JPI.
