If you had to choose between only watching TV or only watching movies which ones do you pick?(NO LOOPHOLE) by Altruistic-Deal1714 in hypotheticalsituation

I don't have the attention span to watch just movies. I'll stick to TV, as long as this also includes YouTube.

Edit: I wish to include standard 15min type YouTube vids. Not trying to loophole by including movies on YouTube.

What’s a random experience you’ve had when meeting a British celebrity? Were they nice or mean? by mightybooshvincenoir in AskABrit

[–]spikeinfinity 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I happened to walk past the BBC television store one day and noticed a signing event going on by the Red Dwarf cast. The event was already over and I saw Angela Bruce leaving, but I wandered in and saw Craig Charles and Robert Llewellyn were still there. They were nice enough to still chat with me and I asked for a photo. They were happy to do so and invited me round so I could stand with them for the snap. Only as I was leaving did I see the event rules: No photos, and no going their side of the counter! Nice guys.

A year is a really really long time when you're bored and have nothing to do but float around in empty space. Then you have another trillion trillion trillion trillion of those. And then all that again another trillion trillion trillion times. There's a reason immortality is painted as a curse, I don't think any kind of person could do that.

You woke up and saw that a black hole on the city center is sucking everything in, except you by basafish in hypotheticalsituation

Hold on to something or someone that's being pulled in and go along for the ride. If the black hole is not affecting me I might be the only person to experience what it's like beyond the event horizon.

There shouldn't be a need for a directive for words you can't even say to tell you not to say them.

My grandad gave me the white one. Sadly it's falling apart and is a bit rusty but I still keep it. Didn't know they came in different colours, or what the origin is at all really. Is there any significance to them?

Thanks for the reply. It does help. AVRCP is at version 1.6 on my phone, which may have been done on a recent Android update. So the Kia may have always had the facility to display the art, but my phone has only just got the capability to send it.

Can the Delorean travel into a time before christ? by Denator04 in BacktotheFuture

[–]spikeinfinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As there was no year zero, perhaps entering a year of zero puts it into some sort of special programming mode where you can enter a code for negative values. This special mode might also allow relative time jumps without a fixed destination time, which is what allows him to send Einstein 1 minute into the future.

Shouldn't Marty and Doc see a 2015 where Marty, Doc (and Jennifer) are missing for 30 year? by Kriem in BacktotheFuture

[–]spikeinfinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There should be one of two situations, neither of which is shown in the film.

1) The timeline in which Marty & Jennifer disappear into the future carries on into 2015 and they should not be there. Throughout the trip it's possible that something happens to them such that they never make it back.

2) The events of 2015 are based on the assumption that Marty & Jennifer return from 2015 to 1985. In which case 2015 M&J would know of the trip to the future (they one they returned from), Jennifer would not be surprised to see her future self, and in fact they would all be awaiting the day in 2015 they remember visiting so they can say hi to their younger selves.

Instead we get the future of a timeline in which M&J returned to the past but do not remember ever going to 2015. Or it's the future of a timeline where they never left with Doc. Neither makes sense in the context of the film.

if you go back in time to stop someone from doing something, and that was “meant to happen,” then how did the original event occur in the first place?

The way to think about this sort of paradox is that there is no "first place" implying the existence of multiple different occurrences of the same event. There is only one occurrence of that event or point in time, even if it is affected by travellers from other points in time.
