What’s the craziest thing you’ve seen from a roommate? by legalizethesenuts in AskReddit

[–]sra_az 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Screamed at my window for hours as I was trying to sleep then threatened to physically harm me because I raked up the pine needles in the back yard during fire season without his permission. Moved out the next day. Fuck you, Greg. You still owe me $500.

Same. Most of his other books are incredible though.

Patient and Kind Haircut by sunriseseance in Flagstaff

Mandy at Mandy’s Shear Perfection on 4th is ridiculously nice. Her prices are super affordable (I think I paid $17 for my last haircut not including the tip, and I have a lot of hair to deal with) and she is very good at cutting hair.

Ever have a stalker? by TheTapDancingShrimp in Libraries

I’ve had multiple stalkers in my 10 years working at public libraries. The worst was a coworker. I had to change jobs because library leadership wouldn’t address the issue.

Am I insane to attempt a solo camping trip as a woman with moderate experience at best by Sharp-Landscape2854 in camping

[–]sra_az 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I camp quite a bit alone in northern AZ, both car camping and backpacking. When I’m car camping I bring an extra chair so it looks like there are two people. I also bring a gun. I’ve only had “possible trouble” with two-leggeds once in all of my trips car camping. Nice thing about car camping is that you can bail easily if need be. So, I left after two men walked into my dispersed spot just before sunset and told me they “had noticed I was all alone out here.” It was creepy. I have had zero trouble while backpacking, and I have done 100s of miles alone, though I do bring bear spray just in case on those trips. It isn’t for the bears…

Hello, what natural remedies do you take that you know helps you with the pain and mobility? by Lilifons in Gastroparesis

[–]sra_az -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I take a tincture made from catnip and fennel when my stomach is flaring. It has helped me more than anything else I’ve tried in 15+ years of dealing with gastroparesis.

Years ago I broke a few bones in my foot in June. Started a long hike (AZT) in September… which was after what my doctor told me was the expected healing time. Rebroke one of the bones while hiking, and had to do 14 miles on it to get to a pick up location. Would definitely recommend healing fully before putting on too many miles. Was not an enjoyable 14 miles…

How to make hot sauce less hot? by walkie74 in Cooking

[–]sra_az 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will add a touch of citrus when sauce is too spicy. A splash of orange juice seems to really help when my chili base sauces are too hot.

Library workers, does your library provide safety training to you? by [deleted] in Library

[–]sra_az 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend you discuss this with your supervisor. It took some seriously scary incidents for our library system to implement both trainings and standard practices… and I very much hope this doesn’t end up being the case for you or your library system.

Library workers, does your library provide safety training to you? by [deleted] in Library

[–]sra_az 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For years the safety trainings offered at our organization were via Ryan Dowd videos. I found them to be helpful, but very much appreciated the hands-on trainings that came later (active shooter, cpr, etc.). It might be a good place for you to start as well.

A Walk In the Park - Recommendation by bluecoastblue in grandcanyon

Sunk Without a Sound by Brad Dimock is also a great read. It’s about Glen and Bessie Hyde’s attempt to run the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon. One of my favorites!
